The purpose of this channel is pretty easy to sum up really: to provide lyric videos for every song Rush has released, because their lyrics deserve that. I started this project in the summer of 2011 at the tender age of 13 (as of this writing I'm 17) and finished it roughly three years later. (Well.. I say that, but of course if Rush ever release another record I will have to do videos for that as well. So who knows if it's finished?) The videos are simple for two reasons. 1: Because it puts the focus on the lyrics and 2: Because I'm terrible at making videos. These are all made with Movie Maker (Windows 7) and they're very simplistic, but why shouldn't they be? I don't really see a point in being subscribed to this channel at this point, as no new videos will be released, but no one's stopping you.

I remember when I got this album and heard this song and I knew what Neil was talking about. Then in 2010 I had what I called my Neil Peart moment. I was facing my mothers descent into dementia and then my fathers terminal pancreatic cancer diagnosis. It was autopilot mode dealing with their respective illnesses and decline, and finally their deaths 10 days apart. Suddenly vapor trail hit me differently. I went into emotional and mental autopilot getting through all the horrible events that happened, I just shut down and off and was in prolonged shock. I went into a very dark place. I’d tried to cry, but it was in fits and starts. I couldn’t really “release”. When I heard vapor trail again, the words resonated so powerfully and I was trembling all over and weeping. Now I understood what Neil really experienced. Vapor Trail is the pain of grief when the shock wears off. Secret Touch is the acknowledgement of all the other aspects of grief that you aren’t ready for. The emotions, the memories that you can’t deal with when you’ve cried yourself out. It is the hanging on for dear life and sanity; it is the emotional climb out of the insanity of it all, the clawing back into sanity. Trying to fight for a way out of it. Needing reassurance that you’ll survive. Listen to Alex’s searing guitar work and Geddys thundering bass at the bridge/instrumental solos. Those two songs are heavy, but they saved my life. What Neil wrote about in his book and in this album, I relate to on a very personal and deep level. “The only reason I am alive is because I could not die.”

Dude, Power Windows rips so bad I can't even believe it. Sometimes I'm surprised when I hear geddy Lee doesn't exactly feel fondly of this album. Okay, you can delete big money from this album and as the single and it's perfection. Look at the album without it.
Hard to believe this was released 49 years ago today (Sept. 24th)...I was only nine, so it was a few years before I became a fan, but I love this album! First tour I saw was GUP in Minnesota, eh...and I stuck with them til the end attending the final two shows in Irvine and Englewood. RIP Professor ❣❣❣
