How so? If that be the case then what would be the point in the Catholic Church edition called the Douay-Rheims (New Testament in 1582, Old Testament in 1609-1610), that’s 1 year prior to the 1611 Protestant “New Translation.” The Douay-Rheims Bible was produced to provide English-speaking Catholics with a translation of the Bible that reflected Catholic doctrine and teachings, in efforts to counter the influence of “Protestant translations” like the Geneva Bible and the Bishops’ Bible during the Reformation era. 🤷🏿‍♂️

The Apocrypha have historical value. Mainly books of Wisdom but do show that some Jews believed as Catholics do and other Jews did not. One mediator between God and Man. Ok... The Bible does NOT say that we cannot share in His mediation. Which Catholic's do. The Mystical Body of Christ. Hmmm? . Catholics do not believe in the Assurance of Salvation / Eternal Security. / Once saved always saved. We do not teach The Rapture, which for us is a false hope. The phrase "absent from body IS IS IS to be present with the Lord" IS false. This is not what it says. Paul repeats what he said in 2 Corinthians 5:8 in Philippians 1:23 "For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, AND to be with Christ; which is far better:"....... As you can read there is no "IS" in either phrase.

The Didache “You shall not waver with regard to your decisions [Sir. 1:28].” “Do not be someone who stretches out his hands to receive but withdraws them when it comes to giving [Sir. 4:31]” (Didache 4:5 [A.D. 70] The Letter of Barnabas “Since, therefore, [Christ] was about to be manifested and to suffer in the flesh, his suffering was foreshown. For the prophet speaks against evil, ‘Woe to their soul, because they have counseled an evil counsel against themselves’ [Isa. 3:9], saying, ‘Let us bind the righteous man because he is displeasing to us’ [Wis. 2:12.]” (Letter of Barnabas 6:7 [A.D. 74] Pope Clement I “By the word of his might [God] established all things, and by his word he can overthrow them. ‘Who shall say to him, “What have you done?” or who shall resist the power of his strength?’ [Wis. 12:12]” (Letter to the Corinthians 27:5 [ca. A.D. 80] St. Polycarp of Smyrna “When you can do good, defer it not, because ‘alms delivers from death’ [Tob. 4:10, 12:9]” (Letter to the Philadelphians 10 [A.D. 135] St. Irenaeus “Those . . . who are believed to be presbyters by many, but serve their own lusts and do not place the fear of God supreme in their hearts, but conduct themselves with contempt toward others and are puffed up with the pride of holding the chief seat [Matt. 23:6] and work evil deeds in secret, saying ‘No man sees us,’ shall be convicted by the Word, who does not judge after outward appearance, nor looks upon the countenance, but the heart; and they shall hear those words to be found in Daniel the prophet: ‘O you seed of Canaan and not of Judah, beauty has deceived you and lust perverted your heart’ [Dan. 13:56]. You that have grown old in wicked days, now your sins which you have committed before have come to light, for you have pronounced false judgments and have been accustomed to condemn the innocent and to let the guilty go free, although the Lord says, ‘You shall not slay the innocent and the righteous’ [Dan. 13:52, citing Ex. 23:7]” (Against Heresies 4:26:3 [A.D. 189]; Daniel 13 is not in the Protestant Bible) “Jeremiah the prophet has pointed out that as many believers as God has prepared for this purpose, to multiply those left on the earth, should both be under the rule of the saints and to minister to this [new] Jerusalem and that [his] kingdom shall be in it, saying, ‘Look around Jerusalem toward the east and behold the joy which comes to you from God himself. Behold, your sons whom you have sent forth shall come: They shall come in a band from the east to the west. . . . God shall go before with you in the light of his splendor, with the mercy and righteousness which proceed from him’ [Bar. 4:36-5:9]” (ibid., 5:35:1; Baruch was often considered part of Jeremiah, as it is here) St. Hippolytus “What is narrated here [in the story of Susannah] happened at a later time, although it is placed at the front of the book [of Daniel], for it was a custom with the writers to narrate many things in an inverted order in their writings. . . . [W]e ought to give heed, beloved, fearing lest anyone be overtaken in any transgression and risk the loss of his soul, knowing as we do that God is the judge of all and the Word himself is the eye which nothing that is done in the world escapes. Therefore, always watchful in heart and pure in life, let us imitate Susannah” (Commentary on Daniel [A.D. 204]; the story of Susannah [Dan. 13] is not in the Protestant Bible). St. Cyprian of Carthage “In Genesis [it says], ‘And God tested Abraham and said to him, “Take your only son whom you love, Isaac, and go to the high land and offer him there as a burnt offering”’ [Gen. 22:1-2]. . . . Of this same thing in the Wisdom of Solomon [it says], ‘Although in the sight of men they suffered torments, their hope is full of immortality’ [Wis. 3:4]. Of this same thing in the Maccabees [it says], ‘Was not Abraham found faithful when tested, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness’ [1 Macc. 2:52; see Jas. 2:21-23]” (Treatises 7:3:15 [A.D. 248]). “So Daniel, too, when he was required to worship the idol Bel, which the people and the king then worshipped, in asserting the honor of his God, broke forth with full faith and freedom, saying, ‘I worship nothing but the Lord my God, who created the heaven and the earth’ [Dan. 14:5]” (Letters 55:5 [A.D. 253]; Daniel 14 is not in the Protestant Bible) Council of Rome “Now indeed we must treat of the divine scriptures, what the universal Catholic Church accepts and what she ought to shun. The order of the Old Testament begins here: Genesis, one book; Exodus, one book; Leviticus, one book; Numbers, one book; Deuteronomy, one book; Joshua [Son of] Nave, one book; Judges, one book; Ruth, one book; Kings, four books [that is, 1 and 2 Samuel and 1 and 2 Kings]; Paralipomenon [Chronicles], two books; Psalms, one book; Solomon, three books: Proverbs, one book, Ecclesiastes, one book, [and] Canticle of Canticles [Song of Songs], one book; likewise Wisdom, one book; Ecclesiasticus [Sirach], one book . . . . Likewise the order of the historical [books]: Job, one book; Tobit, one book; Esdras, two books [Ezra and Nehemiah]; Esther, one book; Judith, one book; Maccabees, two books” (Decree of Pope Damasus [A.D. 382] Council of Hippo “It has been decided that besides the canonical scriptures nothing be read in church under the name of divine Scripture. But the canonical scriptures are as follows: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua the Son of Nun, Judges, Ruth, the Kings, four books, the Chronicles, two books, Job, the Psalter, the five books of Solomon [Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Wisdom, and a portion of the Psalms], the twelve books of the prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Tobit, Judith, Esther, Ezra, two books, Maccabees, two books . . .” (Canon 36 [A.D. 393] Council of Carthage III “It has been decided that nothing except the canonical scriptures should be read in the Church under the name of the divine scriptures. But the canonical scriptures are: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, four books of Kings, Paralipomenon, two books, Job, the Psalter of David, five books of Solomon, twelve books of the prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Tobit, Judith, Esther, two books of Esdras, two books of the Maccabees” (Canon 47 [A.D. 397] St. Augustine of Hippo “The whole canon of the scriptures, however, in which we say that consideration is to be applied, is contained in these books: the five of Moses . . . and one book of Joshua [Son of] Nave, one of Judges; one little book which is called Ruth . . . then the four of Kingdoms, and the two of Paralipomenon . . . . [T]here are also others too, of a different order . . . such as Job and Tobit and Esther and Judith and the two books of Maccabees, and the two of Esdras . . . . Then there are the prophets, in which there is one book of the Psalms of David, and three of Solomon. . . . But as to those two books, one of which is entitled Wisdom and the other of which is entitled Ecclesiasticus and which are called ‘of Solomon’ because of a certain similarity to his books, it is held most certainly that they were written by Jesus Sirach. They must, however, be accounted among the prophetic books, because of the authority which is deservedly accredited to them” (Christian Instruction 2:8:13 [A.D. 397]). “We read in the books of the Maccabees [2 Macc. 12:43] that sacrifice was offered for the dead. But even if it were found nowhere in the Old Testament writings, the authority of the Catholic Church which is clear on this point is of no small weight, where in the prayers of the priest poured forth to the Lord God at his altar the commendation of the dead has its place” (The Care to be Had for the Dead 1:3 [A.D. 421] The Apostolic Constitutions “Now women also prophesied. Of old, Miriam the sister of Moses and Aaron [Ex. 15:20], and after her, Deborah [Judges. 4:4], and after these Huldah [2 Kgs. 22:14] and Judith [Judith 8], the former under Josiah and the latter under Darius” (Apostolic Constitutions 8:2 [A.D. 400] St. Jerome “What sin have I committed if I follow the judgment of the churches? But he who brings charges against me for relating [in my preface to the book of Daniel] the objections that the Hebrews are wont to raise against the story of Susannah [Dan. 13], the Song of the Three Children [Dan. 3:29-68, RSV-CE], and the story of Bel and the Dragon [Dan. 14], which are not found in the Hebrew volume, proves that he is just a foolish sycophant” (Against Rufinius 11:33 [A.D. 401] Pope Innocent I “A brief addition shows what books really are received in the canon. These are the things of which you desired to be informed verbally: of Moses, five books, that is, of Genesis, of Exodus, of Leviticus, of Numbers, of Deuteronomy, and Joshua, of Judges, one book, of Kings, four books, and also Ruth, of the prophets, sixteen books, of Solomon, five books, the Psalms. Likewise of the histories, Job, one book, of Tobit, one book, Esther, one, Judith, one, of the Maccabees, two, of Esdras, two, Paralipomenon, two books” (Letters 7 [A.D. 408]

But I suggest you know the twelve mysteries of God written in the 66 books of the Bible. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2. If you call yourself a Steward of Jesus Christ. You must know the twelve mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in a steward that a man be found faithful.

Roman Cathoilcism or Eastern Orthodox are not Christian. Any type of Catholicism is NOT Christian, so it is fine for them to read it, but really it's not. The Apocrypha contains doctrines for the Roman Catholic church like "Justification by works, rather than faith alone". Other heretical doctrines like: "magical art" (Satan's art), "purgatory" (There is no such place), and "prayers for the dead" (prayers do no good, because they are dead, and if the practiced all these things, then they are surely in Hell!) "Faith without works is dead" That means you can't be a Sunday warrior. Go to church on Saunday, be pius all day, then Monday through Saturday, go back to your sinful life in the world, and selfishly do nothing to help anyone. John 14:6 KJV Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. The Catholic Church has committed a huge sin, aside from all of Satan's work in the Aprocrypha. Why do I say Satan's work? Beccause the 12 books are uninspired by GOD, and written by unknown authors, and contain things that are not in The Bible and are forbidden by GOD, like "Magical Arts" I digress... The Catholic church has REMOVED the 2nd Commandment and split the 10th in 2 so they would still have 10. They removed the 2nd Commandment so they could have images, statues and prayers for the dead. Every Catholic church has a sculpture of Jesus on the cross at the back of the alter. They have images of The Stations of The Cross surrounding the pews in a church, they have statues of Mary and other Saints, they have prayers to Mary and other saints. Deuteronomy 4:2 (KJV) Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Do a search for The Catholic 10 Commandments. Then do a search for The 10 Commandments, and compare the 2. Catholicism, like Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and all the others are are on the broad way, which leads to destruction, we ALL need to be on the narrow way, which leads to Life
@chadalexander1924
@chadalexander1924 8 дней назад
I agree so much. However, I feel like there needs to be a caveat presented among the church...this isn't "secret" or "hidden" or "forbidden" knowledge. And honestly, books like Tobit and Judith, are well...downright boring. There's no redemption arcs or human drama that the Bible is known for...just righteous people being righteous. Secondly, Paul and the other New Testament writers wrote VASTLY GREATER things by using the Apocrypha/DeuteroCanonicals/Preferred Term You Like. For example, Wisdom of Solomon 7 talks about how Wisdom does all of these wonderful things, which Paul rebuts in 1 Corinthians 13 regarding love that we hear ad nauseum at weddings. With that added flavor, it brings new meaning to the original scripture.

Martin Luther believed that the apocryphal books were not as important or as special as the other books in the Bible. He thought they were still good to read, but not as significant as the rest of the Bible. By moving them to a separate section, Luther wanted to show that these books were not as powerful or authoritative as the other books. Martin Luther repositioned the apocryphal books between the Old Testament and the New Testament in his translation of the Bible during the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. The Latin Vulgate is an old Latin Bible translation completed by St. Jerome in the late 4th century. Martin Luther, a key figure in the Reformation, moved the apocryphal books in the Latin Vulgate to a different section in his Bible. By doing this, Luther wanted to show that he believed these books were not as important as the other books in the Bible. He made it clear that the apocryphal books did not have the same level of authority as the rest of the Bible. Martin Luther made these changes to the Bible during a time in history called the Reformation, which happened in the 1500s. Luther moved certain books to a different part of the Bible to show that he thought they were not as important as the other books. By doing this, he wanted to highlight that these books were not as powerful or authoritative as the rest of the Bible. Is this info correct?

That is an interesting read, Satan also gets replaced with Adam, near the end of the book, which is backed up by John 12: 31 and John 14:30 when Jesus proclaims that the ruler of this world will be cast out, because when Jesus died and went to shoel to claim his people and locked up Satan, it was all apart of God's plan to save us.

This goes in reverse, too. The Protestant Apocrypha has II Esdras, which is a real gem, and it gives a window on how people felt after 70 AD, or maybe during the bar Kokhba rebellion. Roman Catholics would do well to consider it. Orthodox has III Maccabees, which is the best biblical book about fencing the altar. The Syrians have several more Psalms, all good and much of it found in Qumran. What is retained in each collection says a lot about the community, and it's among the best things from those communities.

Jesus did not reference the apocrypha,the maker of the book did… Jesus declared this, not referenced like “as it was written” where he does other times… Jews never accepted the apocrypha since there were no messianic prophets during this time, which passed the deutoronomy standards …

Blessings and thank you for engaging. I get the exact same response from viewers often. In light of this I have to ask the question: Dis you know that Jesus referenced the Old Testament more than 80 times throughout the Gospels, yet He only prefaced these quotes with "It is written" 14 times?
@jimkay4900
@jimkay4900 11 дней назад
@@gclmedia I used the “as it was written” as an example of an explicit reference. I would like to know if Jesus’ “alleged reference” to the apocrypha was explicit or implicit the times you claim … and if these times were implicit, does he claim to reference the apocrypha or is he saying “this is true whether or not it’s in the apocrypha” ?? If the apocrypha says the sky is blue and Jesus says the sky is blue he could just be saying a fact and not referencing at all

Fun fact - you can get almost every protestant Bible also with the apocrypha. And there are even catholic Bibles that don't include them. I have one of those in my collection. It carries the normal Imprimatur and all. So it was approved by the Roman catholic church.

Thats interesting!!! A Catholic Bible by definition includes the deuterocanonical books, and finding one without them would be atypical and not representative of the Catholic tradition. Where did you find it? I’m interested to know who the publisher is and what edition this might be. Share...🤔👀

What also surprises me is that of men, without sin, DECIDED what holy texts should be “allowed” and which ones shouldn’t. These are the Lords writing-who gave you authority to omit anything?

I am a Jew a the apocrypha is our history . They are excepted by us. I don't know why christians don't think they are in our scriptures. They were in the bible all along. It's the protestant church that banned them from there bible. The orthodox Jews read it all the time. The only christian church that except all 14 books are the Greek authordox church. The Catholic church only except 7 books. The Pope took out the maccabees and Esdras. We cannot do that. We cannot decide what books to except and what is not God's word It's like deciding suddenly that the teaching of Christ is not God inspired. We are not to judge. d

Thank you for adding depth to the conversation. You as well as another Messianic Jewish brother, have both made similar comments. I appreciate you both chiming in. It has amazed me at how often a fellow Jewish Brother or Sister have come to my defense or supported a claim that I make in the video comments. One of the greatest honors that I have had is to see so many people in Jerusalem and surrounding areas watching my videos. I THANK YOU SO MUCH! I do not take your support for granted.

Expect a lot of reasons or excuses for removing books out of the Holy Bible. Even the term “Apocrypha ‘ is offensive meaning “ writings or reports not considered genuine.or doubtful “ The shear audacity of some group or individuals manipulating Holy Scripture. Then using the term Apocrypha meaning doubtful to describe the Bible. A group of atheists or nonbelievers would have been proud. leave the Bible alone. I like my Bible to include all 81-84 books not just the 66. Im glad people are thirsting for more scripture. Happy reading 🎉

It was Jerome who used the word Apocrypha in his Vulgate in the section which contained these extra books. The word Deuterocanonical did not appear until the 14th century.

I say this with all humility, the apocrypha isn’t inspired, if it was referenced you should prove it, please don’t try to continue to divide us further , some of the words used here even contradict the words of Jesus Christ himself , but anyways God bless you and I hope that God removes this yeast from our hearts
