We took our first trip just a few weeks into going gluten free. Thankfully I’m gluten sensitive, and do not have Celiac. Cross contamination doesn’t cause an issue for me. I took baggies of snacks in the car. And I always have a couple of Kind Bars in my purse. We were visiting family. They were making home made pasta. I stopped at their local grocery store and was able to pick up gluten free pasta and dessert. On the way home, I didn’t plan well. 😮 So I ended up stopping and buying a big bag of Fritos when my husband was getting gas. Next time I’ll take a bag of gluten free buns with me, so I can at least order a burger and put it on my own bread.
Before I went gluten free I had heard family and friends saying how they are gluten free but it was only after the effects of gluten got too much to handle and I hated to eat anything (during a period where I couldn’t do more intense exercise for a couple of months) that I finally just gave up gluten out of desperation. I then realised that most of the people who had been saying they were gluten free, weren’t really. In fact some of them seem to eat barely anything gluten free and it’s probably only when I wam around that they try a bit harder. A couple of years later I feel much better but feel like I might have to tighten my non-gluten eating to be a lot more strict. I don’t really crave most of that gluten stuff because I just think about how it would make me feel. The only thing I crave is more freedom and cost effectiveness in my eating choices instead of eating many of the same things repeatedly or having to study something for 20mins just to have lunch.
how do you trust a restaurant with people who do not understand or even care? my granddaughter had celiac three times since December 2023 she has been glutened so bad it required an ambulance trip to the ER. all of these assured her they werr gluten free which obviously untrue
I've been gluten free, nearly sugar free & 99% carnivore for over 3 weeks. All health issues have gotten ALOT better! Joint pains & stiffness, severe constipation & occasional bowel pains with diarrhea whenever I ate gluten rich foods. I am not going to get tested. I've done testing on myself for 70 years with severe health issues!! Gluten free, extremely low sugar & 99% Carnivore has been life changing for me!! Well wishes to all who are suffering from the effects of BAD foods.❤
June 13, 2024, i was desperately searching for a gf pancake recipe i could add fresh blueberries to and i was surprised that i had ALL the ingredients in yours. I followed along, added the blueberries. My husband and i thought they were phenomenal. They will be a permanent addition to my favorite recipes.
My doctor recently prescribed a gluten free diet due to health concerns and as someone who loves pasta and baked goods I didn't know where to start. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience in such an entertaining way.
I am dying of hunger 😭 no but I have a few conditions that make standing or up and down movements difficult, so I often give up baking because nothing turns out, the ingredients are expensive, and I get sick and tired of spending tons of money on all the different ingredients every single person has..... So having something that works and I can be consistent with would be incredible.
Thank you for this video!!! I feel like I'm going to die. I've had all these severe symptoms for over twenty years. In fact all my life I've had severe gut & bowel issues & I'm 70. The main episodes were 10 years ago with pizza which i also ate tons of when I was a kid. I attributed it just to the cheese/dairy. I've known about my dairy allergy because now it turns into anaphylaxis type symptoms with labels that say "May contain traces of milk". I am very careful about avoiding anything with milk yet my gut symptoms have gotten worse at times. Excessive & painful gas, diarrhea, needing to vomit & it's so painful. I eat toast everyday. I just noticed whenever I eat wheat products especially when wheat gluten is added for whatever reason the pain starts within an hour & I have to be near a toilet for hours. Now... I think my guts are too damaged to repair themselves. At least I made it to 70. Well wishes ❤
Not just celiac (DQ2/DQ8 genetics). The number of people with non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) dwarfs the number with celiac. We have all the same issues discussed in the video.
For flour Ive found a mix of buckwheat and rice flour usually is better than the gluten free mixes, can add a bit of arrowroot or the gross gums if you must. You can also make crepes with JUST buckwheat flour and they are amazing. I find pure rice flour pancakes if you whip the egg whites to firm and then fold them in, are delicious. Use loads of baking powder.
Currently glutened despite 12 years experience and 3 years experience for my partner. The last bag of gluten free hamburger buns at the store... apparently wasn't. And i didn't double check. Ugggghhhhhhh.
Omg i think this is it! Have all the complications. My gut is inflammed and IGA off the charts! In so angry....these drs diagnose without doing anything or asking questions. I despise medical community! I had mono. Infertility. Hair liss. Lupus joint pain. Constipation. Mouth sores. Gum disease.. these poor excuse of Drs! Nausea vomiting. Broken bones. Neuropathy. Anxiety. Im fuming. Getting rested gene this week. My Niece has gene. Her boy has it. I bet this is it! Chronic gastritis. Im gonna call this dr..ask him why he let me suffer! Chronic pain.
Just had some Snyder GF pretzels and Simply Mills GF pita crackers that were both labeled certified GF and one of the two has me deathly ill at the new job i just started.
My gluten flares send me into lots of inflammation and brainfog with rectal bleeding (lots) ... was bleeding so bad last year before we realized it was gluten that I was low bp and anemic ... had also been gaslit by doctors for years ... similar journey, half a dozen doctors that are pretty quacky ... doing a lot better nowdays.
I have been GF for 7 years now. In the beginning I did exactly what you are saying! So many expensive mistakes. My greatest success in baking has been from making custom blends. America's Test Kitchen has 2 GF cookbooks and I follow their recipes and have had really good results. The basic blend they use is a minimal number of ingredients and them it is customized for each recipe. The best cost savings have been from buying a grain mill, a Wonder Mill. I grind my own rice and chickpeas for pennies per lb.
You are awesome thank you so so much for making this video. I got diagnosed 14 months ago and I wasn’t sure how to switch everything over. I am also vegan so it’s very hard for me to find thanks. I struggle with endometriosis as well so my whole life, I thought the pain was from that, I did not know that you can tax off your gluten-free items so thank you for that
After 14 years of dealing with vomiting and extreme fatigue my doc said i need to see a urologist for uti that is all I heard for 14 years i guess other doctors mimic the other doctor... i have lost so many jobs and never truly have insurance so i would have to go to er..this year has been hell i currenly have insurance but on the verge of losing my job due to calling out after waiting 4 months to see a urologist she was in shock i was there she said you have to tell your doctor it is gastrointestinal,I left crying because I feel horrible and I have to go back to work,I googled gastrointestinal and the first thing I see is gluten-free God put a light bulb in my head it is gluten 1 week without and I feel better i made an appointment for my shifty doctor and beg her for a test i will wash her feet i don't care i need a diagnosis to make sure,it has to happen quick I'm on the verge of losing my job house
My Dr said you still need to read the label because some companies hide it in the ingredients list as something else ever thought the package says gluten free on it
I tested negative for celiac then tested positive for non-ige mediated wheat allergy, can genetic modifications in plant groups from poaceae family of grass result in increase of incidence over the last decade in cases relating to allergies and or celiac disease?
Do you have any tips for when you’re stuck at the airport? I always need to take Dramamine right before getting our flights, and I am so sick of the still frozen fruit cup from the coffee place. PS I’m also allergic to nuts which definitely makes it more difficult.
Gluten Dude did a whole blog on "Gluten Free" Cheerios (I don't know if he still has the blog or if he took it down). Celiac Canada (formerly the Canadian Celiac Association) has a statement regarding "gluten free" Cheerios. Buyer beware when trusting "Gluten Free" Cheerios. I will never buy Cheerios again because they made me sick. I don't care about the "optical sorting" process. Wheat, Barley, Rye, and related grain kernels look like Oats, and the "optical sorting" methods that General Mills touts as being "safe" don't actually catch all of the contaminants they claim this method catches.
