The NieR series is one of my favorite game franchises. Make sure you spend the time to finish all the other endings, they are all worth it, especially the last one. It seems that you have played through FF VII, Stellar Blade and similar types of games. If you like these types of stories with bitter-sweet narratives, that ressonate with you, plot twists and that make you think about life and decisions/choices, a good series I can advise are the Xenoblade Chronicles triology, they are all available on the Nintendo Switch. They are on the top of my favorite franchises of all time. I've noticed that you are great when it comes to memorizing details from past games and somehow making sense of all the bits, so a franchise like Xenoblade would be paradise for you. Take care!
Loved your playythrough of A! Yeah Emil scene hits HARD. Can't wait to see you do certain parts of B. Also I have seen polls that show 65% of players prefer Nier Automata to Replicant. I guess it depends on what kind of gamer you are. If its purely story you are after, Replicant has better characters, but the actual world is deeper in Automata arguably. I think Nier Replicant hits harder, and is MUCH sadder than Automata, but Automata has better gameplay, less repetition, less grind - etc. Believe me, once you get passed the next few endings, you will see just how repetitive and grindy this game is... So Replicant: Insane Story, Automata good Story + gameplay. Also there are many people who don't prefer to be sad when playing games, and Replicant is one of the saddest of them all. As Such, considering all of these things, I think Automata is the safer game to recommend for a first Nier experience which is why you were recommended to play it first. They are both masterpieces in my opinion.
clarifications: - Gestalt = human souls - Devola and Popola = Androids - Replicants (protagonists and all the people in the game) = Imitations of human beings, designed to place human souls. Unfortunately the replicants developed consciousness so...
46:13 now that’s *Spectrobes* and there is 2 games on DS and one on Wii… think of it as a mix of pokemon, pokemon ranger & being an archaeologist at the same time… *you like some kind of space ranger travelin to different planets in outerspace* and you be a whole archaeologist digging out the pokemons (but they called Spectrobes) and bringing them to life from they fossil forms & you even dig out the food they eat to level up and evolve (minerals) also some you have to fight off the evil monsters (called krawl) & they travel in tornadoes 🌪️ and they are planet eating creatures 😅 but them purple tornadoes are their most common form of traveling throughout outer space and on/around any planet
Thanks Luni for playing through my favorite Nier game. I love Automata as game but the narrative in Replicant/ Gestalt is one of a kind. Even with ending A this game is the only game to genuinely make me cry and have to take a break lol. Also hope your wrist heals from all the editing.
I find choosing between this and Automata is like choosing between my children! I really connected with 2B,9S and A2 but the Replicant party is possibly the best in gaming. I can't really choose between the stories - both are stellar. The only problem with Replicant is some of the side quests, and as you go through the endings there is a LOT of repetition - Automata is better structured.
Have you been able to answer that burning question of....what up with all the bubbles...if not that lore vid will be a very interesting watch and I had no issues watching the whole thing.
I'm gladly you did the red-bag' side quest before the main quest, make you care even more for the couple. Because they made Nier felt like he was home again and happy, but that didn't last long.(Sorry my english is bad).
As good as the main characters are, it's parts like this that really confirm that the game really wouldn't be half as good without the banter between Kaine, Weiss and Emil. Definitely some of the most rounded gaming 'side' characters. As much as I remembered Automata as my favourite Nier game your playthrough makes me think it could well actually be Replicant.
God it gets me every time. The wedding scene, and I've seen it so many times.. when my dad passed 2 years ago I played the lyricless version of this song that plays after the wedding (emils sacrifice i think) to help tears flow because I was in such shock it didn't feel real and I wasn't crying. But then this song helped me to cry haha. Its so good. Its not a sob story, just interesting tidbit. I think its both because I associate it with such sad events in nier but also genuinely one of the most moving songs I've ever heard. They knew what they were doing with the OST. AFTER you beat the games several endings I would suggest watching a video that touches on the aspects of the music that make it such masterclass. A video titled: "Why you still think about "Shadowlord"". Interesting to watch. Somewhere on RU-vid I'm sure you could find it! I'll have to finish watching your video later 😊 such a happy game 😂
I already watched this on the twitch vod but it's an instant classic in NieR playthroughs. 🤭 I've seen almost all of them on RU-vid. Played the OG NieR back in the day and been trying to process my trauma since then by watching others go through the same suffering. 😉😂 I just love this game. 😅
And I think that's why, to begin with, after years of forcing himself to be blind, the first face he saw was Nier. How not to shoot at the other goal if the first thing that happens when you regain your sight And the first thing you see is a beautiful albino who gives you a warm and comforting hug xd
the dual ER uploads are throwing me off. i thought u had run into a boss in the DLC that made u want to quit. which would make sense haha. but they recently came out with a patch this week to give scadutree blessings and im sure some hidden balancing to make the dlc less painful.
Many gamers don't realize that Adam is Raphael Marks even after completing the game. I wish Eve and Adam's conversation had made this clear. 51:32 Adam... Or would you prefer I call you Elder? or Raphael Marks?
Hello again, lunity. 👋 Just saw your all previuos repliacnt plays. Emil's sacrifice was really intense, right? 🥺 Also, I hope you kmow that Emil is a lvl99 boss in automata but as a hidden quest. We fight all emil clones in it but need to get all weapons + max lvl to get this quest
a few little fun facts Emil's theme can also be heard in a modified form in Automata, his job jingle is his theme in a "happy" version 😅 and the quest the little mermaid was only made playable in the Replicant remake, it wasn't included in the original and can only be read in the Grimoire NieR in text form 😁 wait for the B (run) then this quest hits realy hard 😢
I have really enjoyed your playthroughs of this and Nier Automata. I love these games and it's great to see someone get so invested. Point of information (not a spoiler as it's never really revealed in the game) - Kaine is intersex, although she identifies as a female. That is why the villagers called her a freak, and (probably) why she dresses in such a provocatively female manner. Regarding other story games, I'm sure you'd like the Persona games if you haven't played them - I'd be really hard pushed to name a favourite. If the Nier games get you hooked on depression, then P3 reload would be best!
I actually got to properly learn about this during the B playthrough! I definitely would like to experience P3's story at some point - i'll be adding it to my games to play list for sure :) thank you so much for watching my playthrough!! 🙏
Since you asked for good Story Games, i highly recommend the Mass Effect Series if you havent played them already. Legendary Edition, that is, we dont really talk about Andromeda....
New Subscriber, that direct was a 9.5 wanted wind Waker, but that Zelda game is off the chain! thanks for the video! BTW you jave a beautiful smile, no offense!
Luni: killing you feels awful 😢 Also Luni: You drop really good items. Do you have any more good stat boosts for me? 😂 On a serious note: i wasnt kidding when i would describe this game in 2 words: Sad Lad. The stories are so brutal and they spare nothing to get at your emotions. Love the playthrough. Can't wait for the next few episodes, and later, B.
Random thought: Emil, after his transformation , is still human to me. His heart of gold is still there. Also, only a human could wield magic drawing power from the human soul.
the ship wreck is a new chapter that was added to the remake so quite a bit of attention was put into certain aspects of it, i wont spoil anythig but pay close attention each time you visit it
you know by the fact you soloed the knight without summons means you are impossibly good at this game. all of steam has been complaining about how hard the dlc is and they bring up the knight fight as an example. you need to clip it and post it everywhere! Luny the one true elden lord.
