Welcome to 243 Outdoors!!! Glad you stopped by. On this channel, you will see budget rifles pushed to their limits. I will show you that a cheap, inexpensive rifle, is capable of excellent 100 yard groups and can be pushed out to long range. I do load development, showcase different firearms, optics, and bullets.
You may be able to hit the target at 300 yards with that, but what about bullet performance? Isn't that load maxing out around 150 yards energy wise? Thanks for the vid and the insight on a development project I'm working on.
Hello Josh! Looking tru old videos on RPR researching a upcoming video on my own. Im jelious of the ability to shoot at distance like this. That pic of targets was quite deceiving as to distance. How big was each target. Fir sure they got bigger farther you placed them. Watching farther I heard 18" 300.
Yeah I miss that range. Since I moved in to far to keep it up. I had to skim through the video to see what I was doing. The round target is a 12” and the square ones are 16”. I had plans to go out to 500 but never did. The jump from 400 to 500 is huge. Was going to back out the zoom to get enough holdover to make the shot. Long range 22 is tons of fun and a lot cheaper.
@@243Outdoors Heck yea it is!! I ran some numbers too!! I can only shoot 200 my main range. Just under 300 on another. But that one is only a 18" heavy gong @ 280.
This is really interesting. Have you tried resizing these to .358 and using in a revolver? It would be nice to be able to use .356 molds for more than one application.
OMG, talk about tedious! If a store bought 45LC is about 1 dollar each, can you estimate what the cost of loading one of your own bullets is? Not counting needed equipment or time, just the cost of material for one round. Honestly after watching this, if I were given all the equipment I think I'd still go to the store and buy the ammo... wow, I commend your patience but whew,
Most of us don't have a Drill Press. We Lee Bullet mold owners tend to have less resources. Remove the sprue plate screw on the Lee mold. Insert a strand or two of thin copper wire into the hole then replace the screw. This has worked very well for me.
I have plenty of experience shooting the 75 grain AMAX in 1000 yard iron sight US Service Rifle Competition and since this bullet only has an MOA wind constant of about 10 at that distance the bullet is displaced over 10 inches with just an unobservable 1 mph wind change. Of course the 68 grain bullet has an even lower MOA constant, meaning unless the wind is still or prevailing within 1 mph range even a highly skilled marksman will find it difficult to hit to a point on a mark at 1000 yards. Better to load 80+ grain VLD’s and then shoot them for the express purpose of developing marksmanship skills, especially wind appraisal/countering skills at the long line, because to hit where aimed will indeed require marksmanship development to the highest plateaus.
I have the breach lock also. Not to big of a fan of it. I just tighten it past the detent so it says put. It moves around so much and puts my ocd in overdrive
Love to see a side by side of the Gold Dot 124gr +P with these at a similar load to see the performance. They look like they could be budget Speer. Great video!
Get a strictly depriming die that doesn’t size. One of the best parts about an ultrasonic cleaner is it cleans the primer pocket and inside the case better than tumbling.
The loads were real light. The 38’s out of that 20’ barrel super quiet, and the 300bo was a subsonic load same deal. That was about 5 1/2 months before she arrived. That was the last shooting momma was around before she was born.
You are a good shot. RPRR's are hit and miss as far as quality. People can say what they want but its a good rifle. Mine was a hit and evidently yours is too. The thing I like about the 8400 is its not as ammo sensitive as more expensive guns. I am going to try some Eley Tenex in mine just to see what the groups look like at 50 and 100. That seems to be CZ's claim to fame is putting a bullet on a bullet at that range.
My model 80 is my favorite rifle I installed a tasco 4x6x40 scope and a bipod, I also have a pre war model 80 not as accurate as the newer micro grouve barrel but not bad, the older mags do hold 8 rounds the newer ones only 7
