Wow indepth your not kidding sam ive watched this twice & well done for your amazing amount of content!!👌🏻👍🏻 I'm really interested in the Estate but I did notice the roof spoiler on the estate is nothing like the hatch do we know why!!🤔🤷🏼♂️ Great content sam!!👌🏻👍🏻
Yes in-depth for sure and I am glad you are enjoying the content! Yes the estate often has a different rear spoiler to the hatch throughout the R history with the idea I believe to make the estate more subtle perhaps 🤔
@SamAustin Yes indeed young sir very much enjoyed that & so you think the pictures of the estate with that roof spoiler will as is?🤔 Can't wait for you to do a test drive on these any ideas on when that will happen!!🤔👍🏻
Front end design is ruined. Not only is the design ugly and looks half-assed, but there's so many wide gap spaces in the front grill that i'd be afraid of anything getting caught in there while driving. Not to mention, I'm almost positive there will be more aftermarket front end options for the mK8R who want a more refreshed look. Also, the huge child's ipad in the dash is comical. Maybe it's suited towards the boomers who complained about the infotainment in the mk8R after being in it for literally 5 f*cking minutes lmao. To be fair, I do like the rear taillights on the mk8.5R more. But I heard those will be retro-fitted in the mk8R.
Looking between the 2025 Golf R and Audi S3 to purchase. They will now share the same power numbers and rear differential. I really like the Golf R, but I find myself falling for the 2025 S3 in Ascari Blue!
Tough choice between those two as they are both great cars. All personal preference and best of luck with your decision. Ascari Blue is a stunning colour and I hope my videos are helping you 👍
Happy to have watched! So many little upgrades from the mk8. Honestly the only option that I would really like to have compared to the mk8 is the added G meter functions. And that Black edition may be all cosmetic but it looks good!!
Happy to have you watching! For sure lots of nice touches for a facelifted model. I hope to spend time with the car in the future so will have a deep dive on all the new touches to share on the channel and the G meter function does sound exciting. I have another video specifically around the Black Edition now live which is also worth watching when you have a moment: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6zdrbLnvrmU.html
Thank you. I have shared this on a video on my channel here when this became live a few days ago for the GTI: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2lixLM91b9Y.html
You’ve got yourself a new subscriber! Recently watched your ‘Ownership Review MK7 Volkswagen Golf’ ( looking to buy one) & ‘ VW Golf Black edition’ videos and I thoroughly enjoyed them! Keep up the good work
Welcome and Thank you for subscribing. That is really appreciated and it helps to continue to grow the channel with a great community. I hope you enjoy past and future content 🎉
It would be great if the normal Black Edition is included as part of the 8.5 facelifted range as I really enjoyed driving that car on my channel. Nothing announced but I will see what I can find out with Volkswagen and feedback 👍
As soon as it becomes available I will share. Volkswagen have mentioned in there press pack they sent to me that performance and price is high on their agenda so I am interested to see the results for the UK and the rest of the world once it is announced 👍
Wow! Love it. However, is it just me, or are the small upward blue fins on the lower grille a bit too small and near the middle!?….i actually prefer the mk8 larger fins. Moving them towards the middle gives is a narrower look to the lower part of the car. Will it stop me going to my dealership and drooling over it?, probably not. DCC as standard. AT LAST! I hope this is on the UK spec.
Glad you love it too! I will keep you posted on the channel with the MK8.5 R and also when the UK configurator becomes available as DCC as standard is great. Excited to know your R spec 🎉
The new wheels look epic but not sure how they would cope with our pot hole ridden roads, any clue on waiting times. Love the R centre caps on the wheels, I put them on my 20year, nice finishing touch
Diamond cut wheels tend to be quite strong from my experience. My 18" Cadiz wheels on my MK7 Golf R have no buckles after 7 years of ownership from virtually new and show no signs of wear from that point of view. For sure worth being careful on the roads but I feel the new wheels, along with 2024 technology, will mean it should be built to last. The centre cap R badge on the wheels do look great and great idea having them on your R 20years 🎉
Thank you for the positive feedback! No mention of price. I will share this as soon as the information becomes available on the UK configurator along with other regions. Volkswagen mentioned in the press pack about the balance of performance and price so interested to see the starting price for the R.
hey Sam…nice report…overall the golf r facelift looks brilliant…a few nits to pick…unlike the gti the golf r steering wheel buttons are still haptic…. something to do with them not being able to switch over the r button without having to design a brand new steering wheel…no mention of an upgrade for the rather mediocre Harmon Kardon radio…sadly no more manual transmission for North America…and unfortunately no mention of any new colors…having said all that no car is perfect and I can’t wait to get my hands on one!
Thank you for the positive feedback. I appreciate your comments as it is worth mentioning about them for sure as it is subjective to each person whether or not it will suit them. I will hope to get up close with the car in the future to share my thoughts on the haptic buttons for the R as I know they have redesigned a bit of the feel from what VW have mentioned in the press pack I have. I will do my best to share future videos on the VW Golf R configurator as soon as it is available to give people in Europe, the UK and North America (along with other regions the car is produced) an overview of all the extra options including price. In the press pack I read through here it only shows the black and the blue colour options so it will be interested to see if any others are available for sure.
I agree, I feel the additions are a really nice touch to the facelifted R model. I will let you know as soon as it is available on the UK configurator and share a video on the channel to help 👍
I did not enjoy it with them I have to say overall. Cars were great but time was very short in them and the instructor in the 720S did not result in an enjoyable experience. I would recommend Porsche Silverstone Experience Centre from my experience with track driving 👍
I’ll be more than happy with the 19” Estoril wheels. These wheels look amazing, but I’d imagine these will be premium option. I’m test driving a R20 this week at my VW dealership to get a feel for the car before placing an order for a R8.5!
Crazy to me how people still have any interest in new cars, cars peaked in the 00s. Far too dull and too many electrics Now and that’s before you start with how ugly and expensive they are.
Ive got a Feb 24 ST Track pack and came from a 2019 ST Estate with analogue dials. Both with HUDs, so I don't look the dash much! However the HUD doesnt show revs so when driving enthusiastically i found the needle on the analogue dials easier to see out the corner of my eye. The digital rev counter is a bit cluttered and doesn't show the revs as a number (just gear selected). In Track mode you get an opposing horizontal line that meets in middle at redline at the top of the display. I really like it, but its annoying that its only in Track mode and not Sport mode too. So I like the new dashes analogue like rev counter, revs as a number and its appears that the horizontal rev display appears in sport mode too. So I hope i get an OTA update for my Feb 24 ST Track Pack!
and what about oil? replace it faster, except at the authorized dealership, because as we know, metal filings collect in the filter, the engine was run-in at the factory, but there will always be some metal filings
my ST focus was delivered last week, I'm still waiting for it to be taken over and I firmly believe that I have this infotainment there, for me personally the new one showed more speed than the previous generation.
Many congrats on your new Focus ST. For sure it is all personal preference and I have not spent as much time with the new infotainment myself over the older version so interesting to hear your current thoughts on your ownership with the new infotainment. Thank you for sharing 👍
I was wondering the same thing as I have a September 2023 Focus ST and would like the new display via update if possible! Maybe they would do the update as part of a service if it can’t be done OTA?
Not my car. Owned by a subscriber which I have shared in a video earlier this month. The title is related to my mistake around saying the infotainment system is unique to the limited 300 ST Edition which it is not. It is available on all ST Focus models from 21.03.2024 as mentioned in the video 👍
In terms of changing it back from the new to the old I am not sure. The dials do not change as dramatically or in as much of a performance orientated way in my view with the new system. The colour changes slightly but less red colour and the size remains quite small with both dials for the revs and the speed. Not sure if there is any future customizability available for this or planned for the future 🤔
Hey Sam. Thx for clarifying everything. Question about your shop. Do you plan to Update it ? I would love a ST Phone case but there is no choice for a Galaxy S24 Ultra. Cheers !
Mk8 interior was absolutely on par with a Kia, the wheels are lost in the arches and the touch buttons everywhere was the worst idea ever The 7.5 was the sweet spot it’s just a shame that VW chose a cheaply made turbocharger
Would you say Sam that the i30N was better than the i20N which I've got? The i20 is a good little hot hatch but it's lacking something for me character wise 🤔
Good question. For me the i20N is more fun with the i30N being more capable if that makes sense. Both great cars I can recommend for sure with the i20N being more serious than a Fiesta ST for example so I do see what you mean about the character.
@@SamAustin thanks Sam, i reckon the i30n wouldn't be an upgrade for me. Never driven a Fiesta ST but a few reviews seem to say its more fun than the i20N..
Looked at a TTRS convertible before i went for a Z4 m40i the only thing that put me off the TT was the lack of leather colour options in the interior also there's no HUD which i was amazed by being such a high value car, everything else was great.
Screen is too big, prefer the size of the pre facelift mk8 golf. We already spend all our lives looking at screens, the last thing i want is for my car to also have screens.
I had a MY 21 plate TTS Vorspung with a TTRS rear wing, satin blue internal pack, rock grey leather, rear oled tail lights expensive option from Audi £2300so it had everyoption underthesun, car was in turbo blue 320 bhp and it felt more powerful, picked it up May 1st 2021,sold it October 21 with 5k miles on the clock for £51k RRP was £57k l purchased it for £47k ....oh the madness of car pricing during covid
Unfortunately this TT doesn't have the Plus pack (digital climate control) nor the upgrade audio nor the reversing camera so not a great spec - colour is lovely though and condition/mileage look great
