her first 3 albums were everywhere in my country, i wanted her glasses so bad as a kid and now im 29 and milking the y2k coloured glasses trend hahah but i really just have no idea what happened after that with her music
I’m sixty years old and wrote and published 4 albums of my music, over 40 songs in the last 3 years and was told, I was too old and my songs would never be listened to on my RU-vid channel. Ageism against older artists is rampant. Love Kylie. She is an amazing artist and I love it that she continues to make great music into her senior years. Fantastic.
She is a UK adopted national treasure to be fair like Robbie Williams etc ...she has broad appeal and mostly inoffensive and thats to her benefit so in many ways she very much is everyones vest friend witg wach era and album ... The reinventions are more subtle era to era IP in the late 90s was the strongest reinvention ....the biggest laugh for me is she retained that maturity into her 30s with the 00s just with electropop and dance pop making it narketable....few can do that! Madonna is the opposite in that she pushes boundaries era to era from her debut to madame x which is why i think theres a huge difference in that ....i do hope in time we see more of a rise in older pop artists hitting the top Kylie with padam and madonna with popular proved it CAN be done
I was so excited for my gen to finally be the face of music but the people chosen to lead the pack freaking suck. The talent level is not that of the generations before us and they’re arrogant for no reason. Mariah and whitney earned the right to be divas bc they actually had decades of mainstream success and hardwork
I think out of all the artists at this year’s VMAs, Chappell is the closest to being a diva (only because she yelled at a photographer to “shut the fk up”) Other than that, I think the girls are too nice to each other or they don’t outright mention who they have a problem with anymore.
How many synonyms are going to use to describe Kylie as "old?" Jesus! I know you are critiquing the youth-obsessed music industry but talk about beating a dead horse. Every other word is OLD! KYLIE WAS REGARDED AS OLD! SHE WAS DISCARDED BECAUSE SHE WAS OLD! SHE WAS OLD! OLD! OLD! Christ!
Rebel Heart deaerved loads more love ....madame x too deserved to be better recognised Madonna in her late 50s and 60s i feel pushed all out to deliver those albums ....the irony is Popular with the Weeknd keeps getting played though GGW, GWAYL, LFL, GT, Medellin, Future, I Rise are far better .... But still i yhink now madonnas "done" in twrms of competing ....and now duets and collabs will be what she does for a while ....and that will be interesting in many ways ....she shouldnt "stop" but genuinely i feel after 40 years pushing on and showcasing her innovatio. She will record an album era only when ready 🫶
@@JoshPinder92 I wonder if she moved back into the post disco world with a Confession Part 2, could she find a sweet spot between creatively being Madonna and gaining perhaps more attention
Bar Billie Eilish or Chapell Roan (and finally charli xcx whi ive followed for 12 years! Getting a huge break) this has been the biggest celebration of subpar music ever....literally .... Everything is so fast and speedy and odd ...look at katy perry now at 40 and Gaga ...everything they were a decade ago is now severely lacking...beyince herself i dare say burnt out in 2016 her recent stuff is high concept poor execution ....and we wonder why madonna, rihanna etc cba to go out there anymore ....madame x and ANTI are peak tho
its just pop girls now but there still loads of them who produce top quality music and albums. Charli, Billie, Chapel, Sabrina, Tate mcrea, Dua lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Madison Beer, SZA, Ariana, RAYE, Doja Cat, Lizzo, Kim Petras. They're all current generation pop girls fully in the main stream.
In my opinion the standard for music was lowered somewhere in the 2010s. Why be a diva when you can sing about the same tired topic, sample 80s hits, play 2 chords and be worshipped by millions? Long as you got a pretty face, you can get away with it. Mediocrity is being celebrated and when you call it out, you're a "hater" or "music is subjective" or "you're a boomer". I'm so fortunate I studied the great legends and never settled for generic and mediocre.
@@divatalk9011 for starters I think award shows need to be held accountable. Obviously they've lost some credibility, but if they keep rewarding bland, soulless music, it's a problem. It'd be beneficial for music teachers to set a higher bar as well. Also, we need to encourage everyone (especially aspiring musicians) to listen to the legends who came before them. Prince, Tina Turner, Mariah etc etc. It wouldn't hurt to mediate and call out bs on sampled tracks. Now I'm not against sampling in general it can be creative, but if all your hits are sampled from 80s synthpop hits then to me you're just not that good. Some might consider this gatekeeping, but I'm yet to understand how all forms of gatekeeping is bad. Sorry I'm just rambling at this point lol but sampling would be a good topic for a video too. "Is sampling getting out of hand?"
I hate it because in your 30s you are still a young person, it’s like they still want to find ways to crush women and control us and make us feel small. By 25 you have only just become fully grown as far as the brain goes. I mean fuck Debbie Harry became famous with blondie in her 30s.
