If you really want to see the K1600's smoothness shine, stop using the clutch and modulating the throttle for shifts and put the shift assist to work. Don't let off the throttle on upshifts even at full throttle (ECU does it for you when you pull the shifter up). For downshifts, let off the throttle and kick it down without the clutch. The revs will match.
Hi David, I'm writing to you from Italy, I currently have a 2022 R1250rt and before that a Gs 1200 Adv. My wife and I travel a lot by motorbike, so what is the ideal motorbike for traveling the R1250rt? But I got a stomach ache from the K1600 Bagger, it drives me crazy, it's beautiful, I ask you: Is it suitable for long journeys for 2, I'm 180 cm tall and the saddle is 750 mm high, could I have sitting problems? Congrats for the video. Thank you.
Fantastique moto !!
I have a 18deluxe and would love to have this bike for long distance riding. Beautiful. Without the Road King 2024, I hope they improve some things like the lollipop turn signals, upgrade the 107 to least 114 cc. Also the Tach in the speedo something like the z deluxe which is nice and large.
The main reason we don’t see many of Fat Boy on the road is: Fat Boy are only good on Straight Lines * Not made for Road you have to Turn \ Sharp Corners, never heard from any reviews where the riders aren’t complaining about handling The Tiers are too Flat Just like the original Sportster Roadster Tires Changing to the right Tiers makes it to a Much more enjoyable Ride - Not only in a Straight Line
I don't know what the pipes sound like for you while riding, but listening to it on the video I can say that I wouldn't be able to take it for much longer than the duration of the video itself. I suspect that loss of hearing would be a longer term consequence.
How would you rate the wind stability versus other bagger options ? I'm in Las Vegas and the wind can be brutal out on the open road running through the desert. I'm on a Multistrada 1260S now. Love the bike, but I get hammered by the wind, even with a much larger Puig touring windscreen. Thanks.
i love my challenger ltd. just remember to buy the Indian carbon cleaner fuel additive so you dont get the tapping sound in your cylinders under high load.
Just watched your video again. I gave a 18 deluxe and very happy with it. On a side note, you said how ppl were harsh on the LiveWire. I think HD was very brave to take a chance in the electric motorcycle. Had it had a longer battery life , and really sold ppl woukd have been bragging how HD had tge best electric motorcycle. In time it will be the best and galley xan still go back n bring it out again. Personally if I had the money I would have bought one.
A full face helmet will fit in if you put it in on its side. I put mine in like this every time I leave my bike when at work. I also think there is a slight size difference between the 2 panniers as my helmet fits better in the left than the right.
Nice looking bike, love my 03 Fatboy but sure would like to take a longer trip on a RK. Just wondering about the infamous “death wobble” on the Harley touring bikes. Is that a thing of past? There are enough videos of that happening to make me think twice about the RK’s. Seems like everyone you talk to has a different opinion, so it’s hard to know.
Great overview. I was able to test ride both the R 18 B and K 1600 B on the same day. What a smooth engine that K 1600 has. I thoroughly enjoyed them both in different ways. @Texas2Tires
Thanks for the great review. After having owned 6 brand new Harleys ( Fat Bob, Deuce, Street Glide, Breakout, V Rod and Softail Slim) I bought a First Edition with cruise control. What a difference in comfort, torque, quality and stand out beauty. I had ordered and paid a deposit on the new HD Lowrider 117 S (was taking months to arrive)and after an eventual test ride on the Lowrider back to back over the same roads and motorways with the BMW it was an easy decision to cancel the HD and buy the FE. I’m really enjoying the ride and recommend those thinking about it to take one for a cruise and compare.
53 and just got my LAMS so I’m starting off with a street 500, but yeah, this is it. The road king is what I’m getting for my 55th birthday. Great review!
Excellent review, Dave. I test rode the original Rocket Roadster, and I really wanted one. This would be a delight, but I'm maybe getting a bit old for it. Plus I live in Thailand. Congested roads. The low c of g means it must feel really light. Relatively speaking. I didn't find the old one heavy when on the go. And it was easy to heave off the side stand. In fact, it didn't need a heave.
Did you try putting the full faced helmet in the pannier side on. I have a full face helmet and it fits that way no problem. Bottom of the helmet facing out. I have the k1600 midnight 719. Love the bike.
No - I didn't try that. I had a quick look and it wasn't going to fit 'normally'. The dealer told me it couldn't be done when I picked the bike up. So I didn't try too hard. Cheers.
Great review, ive just traded my 2019 HD CVO Street Glide 131ci Stage 4 for one of these. Waiting for it to arrive, I had my hert set on a GT the seat height was a killer for my short arse legs.
Both you guys read my mind! I have a 2020 GSA1250 and was planning on getting the HD Road Glide Performance ST. Now, if those two MC had a baby 🐣… I think it would be this BMW K1600 B! 😍
@@Kevin_Ho70 I assure you, there is no performance in the HD Road Glide ST, those bikes seem to be Harleys attempt to cash grab from the king of the baggers race series crowd. My cvo had the same 117 when it was stock and it’s No Performance engine for sure. My new B would smoke my cvo even after I spent over $5k in the engine, not to mention the far superior handling, comfort and ride. Now I don’t say that because I’m a HD hater because I’m not, I love motorcycles of all kinds regardless of what emblem is on the tank, I do however like riding the ones that check my boxes and my new B does just that (For now, LoL)
