Nice video. But, but... You talk about edge release, but you really show only the edging itself. this is confusing. Edge release is, when you lower your edge angles, this is opposite of what you really show. Why is it so hard for intermediate skiers to do ankle edgings, starting with the new inside ski? This is because you must prepare this. If you want to start the ankle edging from a longer transition (this is what you show), you must pull back your new inside ski and you have to press down its tip into the snow, only after you have done this you can edge this ski with ankle supination. In optimal carving turns, you need to have good ski-directions, low ski-pressures, low edge angles and for this you must make a low cross over, your body must cross over your skis, over your ski-tales first. This is a well known teaching strategy of Harald Harb, he started this about 30 years ago. skiingtechnique.wordpress.com

Paul, I concluded from your explanation that I’m not always actively applying pressure to the inside ski during transition. Thank you.

This was ridiculous. Do you adjust polls every lift ride, top of every run, what about pow, pow-bumps. When you have a poll length that's just right it's not that hard to make the subtle adjustment necessary for variety of terrain. I have 2 sets of poles; the every day set, and the deep pow (over knee deep) polls. I like using skinny(110mm) carbon polls.

Don't u think its the extension of the outside leg and the following inclination that puts the ski on edge and not on this 'foot/ankle roll'? Can also be obtained by a rotation of the femur to move the knees and lower leg. The 'hips move inside' looks just like inclination to me by extension of the outside leg. It's just that You give the impression that you actually move the hips in relation to the rest of the body yet you look stacked

your sking style have changed very cool. especially on the transition. you are using the pressure of just before turn to enter the next transition. that is very empresive to me. you are cool skier.

before read my text, I worte this text for geting conversation about ski in English. so I hope your feeling would not be bad. I want to you to reduce bending motion when you are transition. cause that is not useful for keeping your speed. bending motion would slow down your speed but you have nice edge control when you enter the turn, pivot control when you control your speed, right - left balance before transition , that's why your sking is very cool.

Hi Paul! This is Cash. Hope you are enjoying this season. Really want to say thank you for your training. I improved dramatically after your lessons. I feel that becoming a Level 2 instructor is not too far off for me after completing your Level 1 course. The value is more than doubled. 🎉 lucky me🤩

This is terribly over-simplified. #1 - You do not use just your leg...you use a switch in pelvic bone tilt to take weight off the old DH ski. It is a combination of leg shortening, and pelvic bone tilt switch. You can eve see this in your own example in the video, but you do not talk about it #2 - You do not want to go from 90/10 to 90/10 the other way. Ending the turn, you transition to 50/50 weight dist. You start the next turn using two skis...then after a few tenths of a second...transition to one ski. Transferring all the weight to one ski too soon, then turning will make for a slowed transition. Try it on GS skis - it literally wont work. Use BOTH skis evenly weighted to start the turn. #3 - You must not go overboard in taking load off the old DH ski. That is the new inside ski, and it LEADS the initiation of the new turn. You must learn the feeling of inside foot supination and pointing the tip of the inside ski toward the outside ski, which will enable stronger supination. Also, as the skis are coming to flat in transition, you want to think about getting the upper body over the new inside knee as you tip and lead with that knee EARLY. From the point at which both skis come under you flat...you should feel like you are tipping the inside ski SOONER. #4 - Once you get to about 20 degree edge angles...THEN you smoothly transition to one ski using inside leg shortening and even more aggressive hip leveling. This will before the fall line, ideally. At the fall line you want to be one one ski, fully loaded.

That was completely "useless". What were you thinking? you talked for 4 minutes and told us 'Nothing'. We don't know how tall you are?? the figures you rattle off so fast if we blink, we missed it, mean nothing when you could be 5 feet tall, or 6 feet tall. Why didn't you give us a side view and show us with your elbow on a 90 degree like a normal human being where your pole is, and the range you adjust it when needed. That would have been useful. Instead, you took our time to tell us that short turns it should be shorter, moguls even shorter, gee thanks as if we didn't know that already, what does "shorter' mean genius? give us a point of reference. If this is how you teach skiing, God save your students.

i like to move both hands towards the new outside ski, that helps me get balanced on the new ski really early, with a low centre of mass, and from there i can move inside the new turn quicker while staying balanced on that new outside ski
