I couldn't sit cross legged on floor bcos severr pain in.outer thigh where hip meets. If I fold my leg , hv severe pain. Please help with exercise

I am recent and new subscriber. I am a former national class athlete/personal trainer and have been struggling with a hip injury and pain for several years. No orthopedic doctor has been able to solve this issue so I have developed my own rehab plan and am always searching for new ideas. Your supine and seated routines are great. I’ve done both all week to start my day and experience so much less hip pain. Now I feel like I really can get control of bursitis instead of fearing it.

This one really hurt. I guess I just wasn't ready for these movements. I went back to the supine for another week with the yin on Sunday. They are really making a difference! Thank you :)

I’m doing this every day hoping to relieve my right hip pain. I’ve had a cortisone shot which gave relief for only two months so this will be a miracle if it helps! I’ve upped my routine to at least two of your videos a day.

Hi, I love your stretches and strengthening exercises, these are gentle movements and i love them! Your voice is calming, kind and warm. I was in so much pain with bursitis and little by little with your exercises, I am feeling better 🥹 Thank you so much you have made a difference with my pain i have been dealing with for two months. Only a week ago doctor said i have bursitis and he recommended PT, so now i know what to do to treat and help myself. 💕

Since finding this video a day or two ago I have incorporated the funky side fold into my daily back stretches. I have spinal stenosis which in turn has caused bursitis in my left hip. These stretches have helped with chronic pain I've had for what feels like forever. Thank you so much! I need to check out the rest of the playlist.

I’ve suffered from hip pain for years and 2 weeks ago it resulted in accute greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) and couldn’t walk. I had one round of physio and started doing these sequences for hip pain and bursitis. They have helped so much! I do one every day and today did the exercises for lazy glutes on top. It gives so much relief. And it saves needing more physio therapy.Thank you Joelle.

OmL yesss. This was by far my favorite. I had a bursa injection today, came home and did this and now that hip feels so good. I really like these poses. Especially the twist where you take it deeper and lean that elbow on the knee. I think a tear of relief slid down my cheek when we did the right side. So much gratitude to you for what you do🙏🙏🙏💝

This was my first time doing a non supine lower back hip yoga with you and wow loved it still suffering a little bit from my hip bursitis pain but do to performing these videos of yours for over 5 weeks now the pain has almost subsided I still wake up some mornings with it but from a level 15 out of 20 pain level it is dropped dramatically doing your 10 minute hip bursitis and lower back pain videos and supine and again this was my first video and non supine and loved it. Hi Joelle - a couple of weeks ago during my walks to and my office (2 mikes RT) I did wear the appropriate shoes. From that my hips became sore. I had my regular monthly massage as usual and it helped a great deal. However, stumbling upon on this video this morning truly will help long-term. Thank you for providing many varieties in my yoga practice. 🙏🏽🧘🏾‍♀️ 🙏🏽

Just found your videos. Have been struggling with my hip bursitis for more than half a year. Started with your supine and now doing standing as well. Do them with a break in between. In combination with water physio and shock wave therapy hoping to get rid of the terrible pain I have been experiencing. Have done acupuncture marginally helpful and had a cortisone shot that only helped for a week. Thank you for your calm flowing positions.

Thank you for your videos. I am getting great benefit from them. FYI - though when you wear black tights on a black mat, it is difficult to see the leg positions. Contrasting colors may help.

Happy new year Maura!! This is definitely a tricky one, so you're not alone! I don't have a chair practice yet, but that could be a good idea for the future so let me have a think about it. Have you tried the kneeling one yet? (This one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xyUeoOKHOJU.html) I'd say it's a little more approachable than the seated, but still a good challenge. 🍀

Joelle, I greatly appreciate your videos they have been immensely helpful for me in relieving my bilateral bursitis pain that I’ve had now for 3 ish years. Can you do a strengthening video to follow up with these stretching videos. Or maybe you already have one and I’m not aware of it. I’ve done all the bursitis videos. I’m unable to do the “picking daisies “ move because it cause a Right Anterior rotation of my pelvis Anyway, if you have something to offer I’m anxious to see it. Thank you for your expertise. Great job Lori! It's wonderful you've done all the bursitis videos. Each of them does have a combination of strengthening and stretching, so if you're coming back to them regularly or doing something like the 4-week program (this is the one I mean: tinyurl.com/46v7unj7 ) then you're already getting some great strength work in! Thank you Joelle. I appreciate that you added a lower back pain video as well. Do you by any chance have any that include the 2 (bursitis for hips and lower back pain) and possibly some leg stretching? I find that I am so tight sometimes that it is hard to get into some of the poses.

Hmmm, I've got quite a few now, so if you look at the Playlists tab on my channel you'll see complete lists for both hip pain and back pain, and there will definitely be some overlap. One suggestion, when you wear a black leotard against the black mat I sometimes have a hard time figuring out what position your legs are in. Thanks, by the way your exercises have really helped with my bursitis!

Hi. I just found your channel about 2 months ago and your workouts are great. I have bad hip pain and I have found that my hamstrings are really tight. Of the 3 hip routines, supine, standing and this seated...this one is fairly painful for my left hip pain....when bringing I my left leg back from #4 style or cross legged position a terrible pain is on the inside upper left and it cricks over a painful spot before complete return. Just wondering if you ever had or heard anything like this? Love these though and your voice direction is spot on.

Great question Dona. The purpose of these routines is definitely to help you feel better, not worse - so if something isn't feeling right, this may just not be the right movement or routine for you and your body. Since then I've brought out several new hip pain practices in case you haven't seen them yet: 10-minute kneeling (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xyUeoOKHOJU.html), 20-minute ultimate practice (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_b9L7_Z9DH4.html) and a very slow 30-minute yin yoga practice (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TxDL5iTUE84.html) - try giving these a shot to see if they may work better for you! I got bursitis from driving from NJ to FL to help my sis. Been doing your busitis routines for a couple weeks and getting relief . 😊 Then I slipped on liquid on kitchen floor (no fall but jerked my back so SI slipped out. I have always been pretty hypermobile and now do yoga EVERYDAY for almost 3 yrs. From my research I know certain exercises shouldnt be done like lunges, lizard etc for SI issue and others are no no for bursitis, so I have stopped those for now. Any advice on which ones I can do if I am suffering from both at the same time now.. Been doing strengthening exercises for both but not sure if some are contraindicated w/ either si or bursitis. I teach dance and need my back and hips healthy. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!😊

Hi Beth, if you search for either bursitis or SI joint on my channel you'll find quite a few practices and all of them are on the gentler side. It's great you've already done your research and I'd say just leave out the ones that don't feel good to you in your body, which will be a little different for everyone. A combination of stretch and strengthening is almost always what we need for persistent pain that isn't linked to injury, so all those videos are good bets!

Do you have a set of exercises sitting in a chair? I tried these but it is too difficult for me to get up from the floor with the great pain I have in my left hip. Getting up from the floor was no piece of cake before I got the hip tendonitis, but now it is very painful and difficult. I do appreciate the standing exercises. I can do those.

I'm glad you like the standing exercises, and great question about seated. Many of the ones in this video could indeed be modified in a chair, but making a separate chair practice is a great idea! Let me see what I can put together. I'll also have a kneeling practice coming out a little later this month, which could be a nice interim one for you to try as well. Thank you for the comment! 🌟

Can I just ask if these exercises would be helpful for an ischia tuberosity bursa too ? I currently have one ,as well as a hip bursa .... would be grateful for anything extra to add ?

I have been in terrible pain for 6 mo. now with Trochanteric bursitis. Tried this tonight for the first time. I get nervous that the pain while doing the stretches was making it worse. Just checking that pain is normal when healing?

I would never say that pain is "normal." As I say in the video, you should never do anything that doesn't feel right to you or that feels like it's making discomfort worse. Always listen to your body when stretching and if it isn't helping please speak to a medical professional.

Your pants are matching the colour of your mat. It is hard to see what you are doing. It would be even better, if you had a different colour line down along the side of your pants. Even better the one color one leg, a different colur the other. You would stand out more. It could be your "signature look". 😉

Hi Kim, sorry but I'm not sure which writing you mean?? There shouldn't be any writing on screen in any of my videos. It's possible you've accidentally switched on the closed captioning subtitles that are automatically provided by RU-vid, in which case you can easily switch those off. 😉
