How many grains of Longshot you running? I reached out to Speer and they wouldn't give any info I am thinking of starting around 7.8gr and working up any info you would like to share?
It looks like it does do better when loaded slightly hotter like you said but do hope for a gold dot designed for stronger velocity some day. Speaking of golddots one load I like I think would be good for you yo test is atomic ammo 10mm. It's a 180gr golddot going at 1225fps advertised and only video I see is from EMS ballistics so far. I would be willing to donate a box to you even
multi dryder Honestly the Gold Dot is not really a bullet as well suited to 10mm as would seem. Once you exceed.40 caliber velocities lack of penetration can become an issue. Loading it too hot also tends to overdrive the bullet leading to reduce diameters do to everything being stretched along the length of the core. Speer would need to have 10mm specific Gold Dot projectiles to get the most out of it. Currently the XTP is one of the top performers, but Hornady would do well to lock the jacket to the core. Currently , for self defense, the Critical Duty is shaping out to be a good factory performer and something I wish Hornady would do in a 200gr weight as well as release the projectiles for reloaders.. However, if Speer actually loaded this one where they said they did in testing, it would prove a good choice. For now I choose XTP for general purpose and Critical Duty for 2 legged vermin...
@@7N6ballistics agreed when loading to max but obviously we both agree we want better than 40cal otherwise you should just use 40cal. for me 2 legged I prefer the atomic ammo 10mm and 4 legged fort Scott munitions. One comment I want to say is with 180gr golddots from Underwood do look alot like freddy Kruger and large marge had a baby which isn't that big an issue but not as ideal as we would think it is
Great video again, thx for sharing. What kind of powder have you used to propel those 200 grainers? By the way, XTP in the same weight hold much better at higher velocities while penetrating much deeper.
Antoua B honestly the xtps faults as a defensive round seem to redeem it as a 10mm field cartridge...see my other vids.. That said, if driven properly this rd has potential. Longshot powder.. Need to tweak the charge for contestant velocity...
In my experience the glock barrels produce lower velocities than say a lone wolf barrel. I would say Speer didn't get that velocity from a glock barrel. I see lone wolf barrels in my glocks getting at least 50+ fps faster than glock barrels in the same pistol.
7N6 I watched your video about the differences between barrels and was surprised our results were so different. I will look through my reloading records for my g40 glock barrel vs the lone wolf barrel and send some numbers.
7N6 , yes AA9 gives good accuracy and velocity, I just hate how it has such static cling. And the particles are so small it doesn’t work well in one of my powder measures
You need more close up footage. You are holding the expanded bullets at arm's length so the viewer can barely see them at all. The frame is almost entirely desert. Is this a video about desert dirt? At the end the frame is filled mostly with the bed of a pickup truck, the tailgate and your shadow. Was this a video about pickup trucks and shadows? Hardly any useful views of the bullets. Horrendous videography.
