Ange, dah-ling!!!! The changes are just fine….no worries love. If I had my way, I would demand that you quit your job and spend every day talking to us! 😂 I’ll be joining the cast on for sure. It’ll be socks for Gary with a new yarn pattern that I haven’t tried before and a massively huge blanket for my son and his wife…my brand new daughter-in-law! He’s 6’ 7” so the darn thing has to be quite long. One year I knit socks for him and it actually took a full 2 skeins! Needless to say, I haven’t made another pair recently. I guess it’s almost time though. I appreciate everything you do for us! Beverly

For the first time, I'm planning to join the cast on party! I'm struggling to make project bags right now. I'm excited. You do what is best for you. We'll watch and have fun regardless.

I think the idea to spread the cast on through January is brilliant. I also work some between Christmas and New Years so I totally understand. I think this way I am more motivated to participate this year and less likely to get overwhelmed.

Hi Ange. Yay, time for the 12 cast on's extravaganza. However you do it, it doesn't matter. You need to keep the pressure off and enjoy what you're making. It's important to look after yourself. Your 12 castons have definitely been a “spectator sport” for me the past several years. This year is the year. I’m doing it. I am unsure how many I am going to actually do but I am already up to three and know what the fourth shall be. Thank you so much for being such a wonderful inspiration, you are a sheer joy to watch.

I am joining in but probably only casting on 2 or 3 projects. I cast on the first today after your Vlogmas video gave me inspiration - a knitted bookmark. I thought I would do several for birthday gifts throughout the year and I can use some of my Yarn and yarns Advent. 😊 It makes perfect sense that you spread out your cast ons with less time at home. This is your hobby and should be relaxing not stressful so do whatever works for you. Happy New Year to you and hope 2024 brings us all lots of yarny joy!

Any changes you make Angela must benefit you and your current circumstances so don’t worry about anyone else! Personally I shall do a Christmas Eve cast on (a new shawl pattern) but actual 12 cast ons would overwhelm me ! However I shall be following along as I love to watch other people who can have multiple cast ons and enjoy their work- rather than my own! Take good care of yourself x

Phew! Your new plan is a relief as I’ll space mine out a bit too. My list is at home, but I think I’ve about six to do, but away now til 27th so have brought easy knitting for that time (Gudrun Johnston’s Hansel Hap, and a crocheted baby blanket). Will get stuck in when I return. Xx

I love the idea and joined in accidentally 😂. So far Definitely want to get a couple of challenging knits (for me) on the needles. Will be limiting myself to 3 only. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and have had some relaxation time before the new year.

I'm going to be enjoying the 12 CO from the sidelines this year. I still haven't reduced my WIPs significantly, so I'm still working on decreasing them. I will be watching you and the other RU-vidrs with 12 COs on their vlog.

Absolutely joining in again this year. While my photographing of the process is minimal, I have 3 projects cast on so far. I have learned that for me it is great to pick a few super quick projects for the 12 cast ons, that gives me some room for the longer term projects that I can (hopefully) finish throughout the year. That said, I still have two projects on the needles that I'm quite certain will continue to be on the needles in 2024 (the same advent mittens you are nearly done with, which I also #12castons2022) and a #12castons from longer ago than that, maybe 2019? an all over colourwork sock by remembrance pottery. I did make an effort to finish before the #12castons this year, I turned the heel on one of the socks (I had to do a lot of "making it work" to add a heel flap and gusset to a nontraditional number of stitches and top down sock, which I haven't knit in years because I LOVE toe up socks). Anyway, I cast on and cast off a soap sack (I do dislike the little slivers of soap in the shower, now they will go in this sack until enough accumulate to actually use in the shower). And a granny square dishcloth in the shape of a heart. I still have some of that skein of cotton yarn, I think I'll crochet any soap sack (or two) for gifts. Glad you have found a way to make this work in your schedule!

Don’t know how many l will cast on but will join in and try to clear some of the many items l have waiting in the wings to cast on. Looking forward to it. Just got to sort out the yarn for them. You do you what ever better suits is fine by me.

Sounds like a nice relaxed approach. I'd like to join in this year......see if I can do better! Starts tomorrow? Better go play with my stash and patterns, all those projects I bought yarn for and now can't remember what I was going to make!

I think it will be really nice to have your cast ons and videos about them sprinkled through January, it will keep the cozy Christmassy vibes going a bit longer. I did consider doing the full 12, because I absolutely have enough yarn, but I decided it was probably a bit much for me. My modified version is going to be that I will cast on until I have 12 total WIPs, which will be 5 new cast ons. Meda

Merry Christmas Ange, this sounds a very managegable and sensible way to work through the cast ons to me! I have five grandchildren now and so some of the projects will be smaller so I might actually get through twelve this year! Love the jumper you’re wearing by the way x

No worries about the changes, Ange, it all makes perfect sense considering the changes in your life. I’m planning on joining in this year. I know I want to get a couple of sweaters, a pair of socks or two and I’m not sure what else. I’m thinking about doing something to add into my Christmas pretties, either some ornaments or a garland like the mini mittens you did this year.

I am liking the more relaxed cast on timeline. I have my 12 cast ons planned however I am still pushing to get a few more items off the needles before the end of 2023. So I am going to delay my cast on until the 1st ... unless I get everything off the needles that I have planned sooner. Happy Christmas to you, James and Newt. xx

Yay I'm so excited to cast on!! Today I measured my 2nd swatch for what I hoped would be my first cast on. And I had to order needles for the size in between. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So that's not happening until they arrive. I have a rough list. I don't think I'll make it to 12, but I am hoping to get a few pairs of socks on the go, 1 or 2 mitts/gloves, at least 1 hat and 3 jumpers/tops. All dependant on what needles I have free at this point 🤣 I have more than enough yarn. I also watched a tutorial on ladderback jacquard yesterday and I have the urge to do loads of colourwork. Maybe next year.

I'm glad that you're doing Christmas differently as I'm sure you want to spend as much time as you can with both of your families. I know this year has been a bit hard for you, so doing the 12 cast ons in any format is fine. I have at least 3 cast ons that I want to do. I only managed 2 out of the 4, that I wanted to do in 2023, so I'm limiting myself to 3, if I can get any more than 3 before the end of January I will definitely be pleased with myself. I am actually working on my first simple raglan sweater class with Nerdy knitting on youtube! I better stick with just that. It' even in a bright grape purple which is out of my comfort zone but I could add a scarf or cowl to tone it down maybe! Hee Hee

I’d prefer you to do your 12 cast ons in the way that suits you best and brings you the most joy - and if that changes every year, so be it! I haven’t joined in before (quite frankly, I find the thought of that many WIPs overwhelming and I know myself too well to think I would go back and complete each one!) but I thought I’d, sort of, join in this year - there will, hopefully, be 12 cast ons but they will be throughout the year. I was given a chest of drawers and a cupboard earlier in the year and this meant that my yarn stash could be tidied up and put all in one place (in the end several of those collapsible boxes from The Works had to be employed to contain the overspill, ah well, the thought was there!). This was a good idea in theory but it did highlight the sheer amount of sock yarn which I have accumulated; so I thought my partner and I could choose 6 balls each and those could be my 12 cast ons. I'm getting so excited about 12 cast ons! I've made a list, swatched for my first garment and only have to choose yarns for a few projects! And swatch for a few as well... This has to be a KAL that suits everyone, so why not you too? If you can't manage to cast on because of life, then you can't do it. Do it when you can. Tbh there have been times when I was so busy swatching for the next day's cast on that I hardly managed to do any actual knitting on that day's project, so a more relaxed style will suit me well!

I won't be casting on with you as I want to try and limit the amount of projects I have on the go at any one time next year, but I am planning to only use yarn and patterns I already have for the whole year (excluding Wonderwool, I've got to buy something there). I will enjoy seeing your project choices though and watching your progress. Don't apologise for having to work, do what you can, when you can and enjoy the time you do get to yourself. Xxx

I’m new to your channel. I want to do some cast ons. I was wondering if there are restrictions on what you can CO? Do the projects need to be certain sizes? I want to make spa clothes as Christmas gifts for next year and would like to get a head start.

Why not 2324 for the tag so includes both years then next year 2425
