In this video, I walk you through the process of how I create a half marathon training plan on Training Peaks. This plan is in no way made for everyone, but rather for new half marathon runners or runners who are fairly new to the distance and have run maybe 1 or 2 half marathon. For more experienced runners, this training plan wouldn't really apply, but the overall framework of it may be beneficial.
One of the most important things to remember when training for a half marathon is to focus on the long run. In order to run long distance races, you must train specifically for it.

Hey man amazing video!! Definetly subbed to your channel after this one! I got a couple of questions - Is there a reason why the bulk of the speed work (Most Wed and Sat runs) are at marathon pace and not half marathon pace? In addition, when doing the CD intervals between the sets (for example the 600m between the fast pace), do you walk or is it an easy pace run?

Thanks! I appreciate your support! In this case, this plan is for a pretty new half marathon runner who is looking to improve their time but perhaps doesn’t have a specific time goal. In the case that someone is shooting for a specific time, I would recommend switching some of those marathon pace workloads to half marathon or faster. Lactate Threshold is a huge part of half marathon training. As far as the CD’s go, I typically do a slow jog but you could also walk or just keep moving around.
