Dan Marcu it was a challenging day to put it mildly... Plus the aroma of being on a pig 🐽 farm really did compliment it all...😂😂.. chap was nice tho. Tea ☕️ biscuits and a bacon 🥓 sandwich 🥪...
hi , i did this gearbox/clutch today on my rover 45, diesel, and it was the hardest thing ive ever ever done, you defo earn your money, i would never do another clutch again, and when a garage says they want big money to do it, ill say yeah no problem, bcos im not fukin doing it ever again, i couldnt move the oil cooler pipes that are ontop of the gear box and bolted to front of engine behind everything with a 10mm bastard bold of doom, and it would not come out, right upto rounding the head, 4 hours strugling with that bolt , out came a massive crowbar and anger and i got some movement to move oil pipes alittle to get box off, later came getting it back on , its ok getting one off on your own, but try putting it back on like this, on your own, it was absolutely hell, bcos theres no level bit on the gear box to raise it with the jack,,ended up with my wife making a seasaw out of a massive 4x2, and prying it up into position, absolute nightmare, still got some bolts to do 2moz, and while strugling to get the fuker back on the clutch arm bearing always wants to come out its arms grrrrrrr
lazy carper 😂😂😂... love the description of it all... I can literally picture that frustration coming out with a crowbar... funny that... but it’s great you gave it a go pal.... it only gets better the second and third time. ..thumbs up to you ...
@@WMCS cheers hope it works, it might be my gearbox yet, but i defo have respect for you guys that do clutchs, its no easy task thats for sure,my clutch slide bearing -i think was stuck to my clutch pressure basket, as it had perfect imprints of the prongs on the old bearing, and my clutch arm from my slave rod was stiff, going in to the bell housing,so i dont think it was returning, the clutch bearing properly, never again, lol, all the best with your work
Great video mate. really good detail showing how to do it. I've replaced the clutch in a 1.8 K series and a TD4 and it took me a full weekend both times so full respect you can do it so much faster, especially as you did it on the ground.
Thanks for this video Kevin it helped me a lot to do my Freelander clutch myself and saved me about £350 from my local garage price and only took me 2 days of about 5 hours each day after work your videos are great and helpful 👍
Just viewed this second Freelander clutch you have done absolutely excellent..hope I could get half as efficient. Given me new hope to do the Mrs Freelander clutch now.. see you in three weeks when I finish 😀😀.!!!
Wow, you certainly know your stuff. I have the same car and have no clue what goes on under the floor.. or anywhere for that matter. I have got to get one of those lifty upie things. Amazing.
Ian Kelly that one was sat in a farmers field for over a year... we had to tow it with a 🚜 tractor. .. I spent two days getting the engine to run. Then the clutch. A little mice 🐁 jumped out from the bulk head when I was working on it...😂😆🤪
Great work. Going to do the same job on a 2005 td4 with the csc in a few weeks as the clutch is just starting to slip, hence why I'm here. Your impact driver looks to be the job. Can you tell me which model it is? As far as I can make out, it's an 18v Milwaukee Fuel but I'd love to know the torque figure for it. Could you also tell me the brand and model of the knuckle that the square drive fits into? I see the three part clutch kit available for about £200 with discount from euro car parts so that leaves me approximately £300 to buy the impact driver kit. I wouldn't fancy doing that job without one. Thanks for the video and for taking the time to upload.
derrick soer it’s not the easiest job.. I try and spend no more than 4-5 hours on big repairs and maybe 3 hrs on smaller ones... especially now winter is coming.... I still have to drive at least 1.5hrs each way on average to get to customers. ... thanks for the positive messages
Hi been watching some of your other videos what would be the cost of replacing the clutch on my 12 plate 2.0 litre vivaro. I’m based in Leicester but would be able to travel to Bedford. Excellent videos thanks.
Impressive work and awesome job documenting it! Would a freelander with 1.8 k-series be much different? And didnt look like you replaced the flywheel on this one, is that not necessarily needed, like you recommend doing with the DMF on some other freelander vids you have?
@@WMCS Thanks for the quick reply! But I'm having trouble finding one with the 1.8L petrol? At least this 2L diesel have the same clutch release pivot shaft as the 1.8 petrol im starting on now, so it should get me in the ballpark. Any need for an alignment after dropping the subframe, considering the lower control arms are bolted to it?
Excellent job Kevin bit concerned about box weight on your body have you thought about protecting yourself when handling these I've done this and get it digging into your chest it is painful expecting you to find a rodents nest under there 😂hats off to you on that one good work. 👍
Alister West 😂😂there was a little 🐭 mice that jumped out. The thing had to be dragged out of the field with a tractor. I’d been parked for years. Had to get the engine running before doing the clutch. That was interesting. The gearbox does really dig Into the chest cavity mate. It really does knock some air out the chest sometimes.
I've been sent from the future to let you know that this is one of the bad ones. In the future you will mainly do mini's. But only one a week. It's the law.
Ah so this is a rover engine whereas on my 2003 Freelander it has a BMW engine. I was wondering why I could see an oil filter in a different position to mine. Didn't know there are two types of 2.0 L TD4 diesel engines. Everyday's a school day.
@@WMCS Thank you Sir. You really are awesome at what you do. I may need to hire your services in the near future. I have stripped out all the suspension, x member, etc but I'm not feeling confident about the rest of the job. If I can find all the bolts I reckon I'll be able to get the IRD and gearbox out but I don't think I have the minerals to get them back on again. You make it look so easy but I reckon I would be under the car for days on end trying to get them back in. I already subscribed. Rude not to really.
I have a little problem. I have a Freelander 1 TD4 with BMW and I have a horrible sound in the area of the auxiliary belt and its tensioner. My surprise is that there is no place to work on the auxiliary belt and remove its tensioner. Could someone tell me if there is any trick or procedure that could help me so that I do not have to remove the engine. We've been thinking about how to do it for days. Thank you very much
I didn’t think you could speak English ,you point at bolts that you going Undo instead of saying what’s bolts are and what size would be more useful? good work 👍
RumpleXstillXskin all good mate ... I’m only down in Bedfordshire... I don’t say much at the best of times 😎🥳... have got a some great footage coming up this week ...
