@@turdsan8677 Actually, it essentially is. The only thing that is not Arctic Cat is the motor. The chassis (which is a critical component of any vehicle) is designed and made by Arctic Cat. The quality between Cat's chassis and Ski-Doo's Chassis isn't even debatable.

You know, I must say there are two great things about the 998 turbo. Not just what it is in stock form, but also what it can be. With less then overwhelming effort it can be readily converted from great white shark on the lake to invincible megalodon monster. It is an engine that has tons more to give without changing the real bones. It’s almost difficult to imagine that the 998 is the fastest and most powerful production snowmobile engine ever created to date.

Well done. That took some honest evaluation to compare those two sleds without destroying the true purpose of the lesser hp of the skidoo. I believe the 900 Ace Turbo is only a test. I like 4 stroke turbos. I spring checked a 2012 1100 turbo cat, worked the bugs out and have a rock solid sled with 10,000 miles and going strong, I ride with confidence. At 16 mpg and $2 a gallon gas, I almost feel guilty riding this 180 hp rocket, bullet proof. If you plan on keeping long term and just like to ride, 4 strokes are hard to beat imo.

The 2019 Ski-Doo Renegade X-RS 900 ACE TURBO is actually a four stroke engine, not a two stroke, the two stroke engine is the 850 ACE E TEC. The 900 ACE TURBO Dry Weight is 536 lbs. A Yamaha Sidewinder depending on the length of the track weighs in at about 620 lbs.

Both are incredible machines, but if these sleds are aimed at instant power they will eventually turn electric. As far as 4 strokes, I still put my faith in Yamaha. @brandenjoseph604
@brandenjoseph604 5 лет назад
@@nate199813 cat was the first to go 4 stroke. As far as reliability, ski Doo hasn't had a reliability issue with any of their 4 stroke motors. None of the manufacturers have actually. Quality is a different story. Yamahas quality was not good. They couldn't engineer their way around a chassis if their business depended on it. That's why they let Arctic cat do that now. Yamaha has not built a great all around snowmobile until cat came into the picture. Have you ever seen the suspension on an Apex, nytro, or phazer? They were the heaviest piles of junk out there. I'm a fan of Yamaha, but I think your looking through blue colored glasses if you think nothing was close. Reality is nobody could compete with ski doo's 2009 1200 until 2012. And the other 4 strokes didn't step beyond the 1200 until 2017... That was a decade of dominance and is the reason ski Doo outsells the other 2 manufacturers in 4 strokes even if you combined them.

So again Yamaha ain't as reliable especially now with AC chassis. We don't have the fleet size we used to have before this Covid bs but yeah yam ain't like they were even from only a few years ago. We've had two brand Yamaha's break the shock at the bracket with it bolts to the ski with less than 1000kms on one and just over 500kms on another and a blown piston on the same one when it hit just over 750km not counting other issues over the years. Three years or so ago we lost the motor in an Apex that we used for demo's at ground level. Of course they are still more reliable than cat but not by much since the chassis change, now our sleds get a pounding from customers but out of the three brands we have used Skidoo is more reliable. We gave up buying new Cat three years ago because of problems and will only buy them used with low kms just to cut cost.

@bradymxr4659 3 года назад
@@UvidCo well from what you mentioned that broke shocks are not made by Yamaha. And seeing you brought up shocks I’ve seen them break or seal give out on every sled. Again maintaining a sled is a big plus. Everyone that talks about Yamaha being reliable just like the one guy is talking about motors. Even this channel the guy has mentioned numerous times on other videos Yamaha has the most reliable motor and he has seen them as well with over 50,000 miles. Also don’t tell me ski doo is so reliable cause I’ve seen many recalls for motor replacements, wiring harnesses cause of sleds burning to the ground and so on. My friend works at a ski doo dealership he tells me what’s good and what to stay away from in the years they have problems. I also have a ski doo and Yamaha so you know I’m not just one brand guy. I just know overall 4stroke wise Yamaha has reliability down better with their motors. I hope with Yamaha working with A/C things get better like their fit to finish has been which Yamaha has been known for on their bikes and other equipment as well.

You are not the only one, Yamaha keeps the rep in motorcycles and ATVs. Strange thought, add a motor modification that forces cold air at insane volumes into an engine and match it with a fuel injection system that can use all that air and it goes faster...? Huh. Ski Doo is not up to this comparison, tired of finding ways to lift Ski Do up among clearly superior sleds with things that are mostly unnoticeable or easily ignored by most riders

snow machines that are made for speed but can only able to speed on nice groom trails, oh but wait trails are regulated more than highways now days, speed limits, stop signs. cops on every corner. I gave up on it since they had these groom trails , I now keep my 94 indy classic for fishing only and never purchased a trail pass. gets me to my fishing holes everytime!

Yeah no kidding they complain about my 1200 hitting late and now they complain about this machine. If you know when the power is going to come on he'll adapt that with the flipper at the right time and you learn to adjust your bought it. You got to stick with it right but you guys have no choice you get any of them you want. I couldn't ride my 15 do touring 1200 and found throttle lag but I dealt with it. It's the harmonic home from my exhaust or track that I can't stand under 45 miles per hour. I paid for a silent Drive and it's noisy as hell. All said I love the east 900 more because of the awesome sound that thing gives off when flying by everybody.

@@jmj267 that's because the wide bodied G4 looks utterly fantastic and in fact better than the 2 stroke G4 but the XR 1200 wide body did indeed look kind of fat. I have two XR's and with a low screen and some kick ass front shocks it looks better than the XP's from the front and some angles off front. But from the side it doesn't look very good even to my biased eyes......nevermind compared to the sexy XS and not 2S and 4S G4's. SnowTrax is right on in saying what they did about the XR and about the 4S G4 I say.

I liked my ZR 900. I know it’s out dated. But at over 150 hp and 111 pounds of torque. And it got 14 mpg At 7200 rpms it was wicked for its time. Just needed a 137 inch track. Set up right would run with anything in a drag race. But I’m sure it doesn’t handle the ditch banging but with a 137 inch track would help.

@@55weedlover but you can't blame Snowtrax for simply repeating what Yamaha claims. Yamaha should just tell people it's 200 hp if it's 200 hp vs all this conservative-estimate crap. It's like under promising and over delivering but it's just silly I think......just tell us the truth. I heard the Sidewinder was 180 hp in warmer/normal air and 200 hp in cold air which I presume is -20. Not sure if Cat is the same in that respect but if so then they're just giving people the power in typical riding temperatures (in January anyway).
