Bad weather overnight included 40MPH winds, swirling mist and heavy rain, but these are all part of trekking and camping in the Brecon Beacons. Today is “day 2” of our adventure, with two wild camps out in the Black Mountains. After a hearty breakfast, in the rain, we move on past and around Llyn y Fan Fach and up the western bank to gain access to the high ground ridge. Our target for the camp is the trig point at 802m. A surprising encounter with Paul @paulmessner and Darren @holmesaway were a highlight of the trip. The weather turned on us though - but that’s part of the fun.
Thanks to Dan for his company. Check out his channel and video here:

Meeting Paul was such a surprise. If I'd have seen him in the Peak District I would not have been so amazed but he was far from his usual area! Thanks for following along. Cheers, Warren :)

Yep it’s really good up there did it in some bad weather was going to camp out two nights but only did one the same route so the second day was long one

Carrying a full backpack load it does seem like a long route for sure. Years back I have done the circuit in a day before but in the summer with just a light daysack with some water and food. It makes a difference. The extra night out there eases the pressure to walk and with the shorter days makes it viable. Cheers, Warren :)

Can't really complain about the weather - but I do tend to comment about it : lol :) Always interested in a colab-meetup. What area do you walk/trek around?

I haven't had the guts to long treks, only done small walks when I have gone camping with family x

Using an over used phrase, take it step by step. Treks don't have to be long anyway. Out with family is lovely, nice to share and enjoy the scenes together. All the best for '24 out there. cheers, Warren :)@@dianebannister965
