I also see you had no satellites. What I found out with my Flywoo Explorer, is that with mine, my VTX was causing interference with GPS signals (since the GPS module wires runs directly underneath the VTX.) So what I did was relocate my VTX to the top center of my Explorer, and move the battery underneath. I also shielded the wires (not sure if that helped). But just moving the GPS module wires away from my VTX allows me to get (AND MAINTAIN) 12 to 14 satellites locked up QUICKLY and stay locked through the duration of the flight. I even tested this with Betaflight. When the GPS module wires are in proximity of my VTX, without the Li-Po plugged in, I get good satellite lock. As soon as I plug in my battery and my VTX turns on (at 25mW), I lose almost all of my satellites. Repeat the same process with the GPS module wires away from my VTX, and there's no affect on my satellite lock. I believe this idea of placing the GPS module in the back of the quad, also I see with the IFlight Chimera4s that are coming out is not a good idea.

Mark Lang that's strange as my gps works just fine. The only thing not working other than the surges I posted earlier , is the rssi is locked at 46. Not sure why that is. Maybe because I'm using the xm plus reciever.?

I got a response from tech to swap the motors so I did. They said not to worry that they will replace it to go ahead and swap them.One wire was a tiny bit short and had to extend it. I didn't like having to do that. I just flew the drone and is still surges though a little less than last time. It seems to vary from flight to flight. It was suggested I try to see if something was lose but every thing was snug. The motor screws were very tight. Not like other brands I've had to double check the screws. I'm not sure what else if could be other than a faulty fc. I hope they do a good exchange not like other brands from China where its next to impossible.

No problems with R9M 2019 module or R9M Lite Pro module + R9MM OTA ACCESS rx + moxon antenna setup out to about 3 miles one way. RSSI can get low but no failsafes or issues. Redundancy with R9 Mini rx or diversity with R9 Slim+ rx may provide additional confidence.

@m2kfpv449
@m2kfpv449 3 года назад
Yes, Flywoo sold a bnf analog Explorer LR with the Caddx Tarsier v2 cam. You can install a number of split/hybrid style hd fpv cams in the Explorer frame with dvr control board mounting in the rear 20x20 area. EMI and RF interference has been the issue with these hd cams mounted so close to other components (vtx, esc, gps). I will be releasing a video on addressing EMI and RF interference on the Flywoo Explorer bnf.

Hi, nice video! I want to know how much is the amp draw on these 4s Lion packs and whether you’re able to pull out of dives given the increased weight. I also want to know if a 3s Lion is better than a 4s lion- does the weight savings compensate for the decrease voltage?
@divingfalconfpv4602
@divingfalconfpv4602 3 года назад
Dave C told me the 4S Li-ion was better because the Li-ion packs are real heavy extra 40g for 4s over 3s is more than made up for with the extra performance. Especially if I still want to run a HD camera
@m2kfpv449
@m2kfpv449 3 года назад
I’m finding the weight difference between 3S vs 4S for similar size Li-Ion packs to be closer to 70g difference for 3200 3S vs 3500 4S. At that point its not clear that 4S Li-Ion has advantages beyond lower throttle hover point, more power for punch/recovery. There are other Li-Ion considerations to account for and new battery tech coming to market that I will discuss in an upcoming video.

TheDok73 Yes, all 3 Explorer LR models have poor or problematic GPS satellite lock and acquisition issues. The Caddx Tarsier 4k camera version is the worst of the 3 as the rf and electrical interference from the Tarsier camera, Tarsier wifi/dvr process control board, and vtx are preventing the GPS module from acquiring and maintaining satellites even with the strap mount GPS on top of the battery. I have been testing several shielding methods and other modifications attempting to correct this. I will offer my opinions & suggestions in an upcoming video. For now, I advise you to be extremely cautious taking the Tarsier Explorer LR model really long range or fly in an untested area as you will likely lose GPS reception and therefore RTH capability and even home point direction indicators AFTER take off leaving you in a bad situation. If you see my previous mountain flight video that I did with the analog Explorer LR version, you will see a similar flight with GPS that I flew BEFORE I flew the Tarsier version which helped me to test vtx range and quality, R9 control link, and get acquainted with this mountain flying spot so I had confidence to get my Tarsier Explorer LR model back without any GPS indicators & assistances.

Tip: For now, bring an extra lipo to use for a warm up flight where you set the vtx to 25mw, strap on the gps, and get a little high up and away from the ground and interferences. Once you get GPS satellites, land then quickly change flight batteries, bring vtx back up to 450mw, and fly. Be careful though as again, the gps can lose satellites during flight which will leave you without any RTH or home point directional assistance.

Question: Can I plug in small 3s or 4s battery. Wait till I get the 5 or 8 satellites 🛰 then unplug and plug big battery in and keep those satellites or does it lose them and scan over when battery unplugged?
@m2kfpv449
@m2kfpv449 3 года назад
Yes. The gps has a kind of memory that retains the satellites for a brief time after being unplugged which will let you change flight batteries and have the same or nearly the same number of satellites upon startup. I typically bring an old lipo for this exact purpose. Tip: Also try starting up the vtx in pit mode or 25mw to reduce the rf interference and speed up gps satellite acquisition.

Interesting you had no gps. I would like to learn more about the r9 system. My lr analog version came in the other day bit in having issues with small short random power surges. I'm working with tech support. They had me send a video of it. Still waiting on the response. I researched a bit on it n it could be the esc? Tech said he didn't think so but that I could try swapping motors. I don't know if that would mess up the warranty so I'm waiting to see what they say.
