2009 Up Is Slightly Different Yet
In this new video in our DIY Seires we discuss and explain the process of how to install one of our Master Solenoid Service Kits. We use a 4L60E in this video, but this very same process can be used when installing this kit on several other automatic transmissions. Our 4L60E Master Solenoid Kit includes the A and B Shift Solenoids, EPC Solenoid, 3-2 Downshift, Pulse Width Modulated Solenoid, Manifold Pressure Switch, TCC Lock-Up Solenoid, and the Main Internal Harness. Please see our website for more details.
Offer insight to this repair & procedures

Thank you for the straight forward guide. I’m gonna be changing my valve body with harness & sensors for my 94 Chevy impala. They certainly do not make them like they use to.

Fantastic video. Thank you. I was wondering if there’s any special concerns with removing the valve train behind each solenoid (one at a time of course) clean up the valves and douching the valve body with parts cleaner followed by some Fresh fluid for pre-lube? Question #2 is it advisable to try and drain the torque converter (if possible) so that more fresh fluid is introduced at filling? Alternatively, I was throwing a small trans cooler in line and I’m wondering if there’s a way I can use a transfer pump and pump some fluid through the tranny and try and displace more of the old used fluid...That is still the majority of the volume during a filter service. I’ve also purchased a pan with the drain plug, this master solenoid kit replacement will be the second filter replacement and I guess I’m prepared to do a couple more filter replacements over the next 500 to 2000 miles to try to freshen up the tranny fluid throughout. Figure I got nothing to lose and everything to gain. If my training needs rebuilt I’ll have a new valve set in it and a new pan and a new trans cooler. I’m changing these valves because after my first fluid change I did have shutters shifts that were not there before, feeding the wives tale lore that you’ll make things worse. Still I’ve driven about 600 miles on it in the shutter shifting goes away when it warms up (when the training warms up doesn’t seem to matter if I let the truck preheat) Anyway I’m real hopeful and I hope this information gets answered for myself and other people and again thank you very much for such a great video production

I was coming home from work yesterday & while going to down the road felt a hard jerk & transmission down shifted. I pulled over & put in park. Got out & looked under vehicle for fluid or anything outta the ordinary. All looked good. Started vehicle back up, put in reverse went into reverse fine, shifted to D nothing, then 3rd nothing, so I shifted to 1st moved just fine, 2nd just fine, but no 3rd or drive. Luckily I wasn't far from home so drove home in 2nd.

Hello sir, I am throwing a 2-3 shift solenoid code. I changed the solenoid and the code is still there. Do you think this master rebuild kit will help me? It's a 2004 GTO has a 4l60e with a Yank SS 3600 stall converter. When it's cold it drive fine and shifts great. Once it warms up it goes into limp mode and only has second and third gear. But when I turn the car off and let it sit about 10 minutes it is fine again. The fluid is nice and clean but it does have a strong smell.. kinda like celery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Can you help me with a question about the valve body of Selenoids for automatic gearbox cvt lineateonic Subaru Forester XT 2015? Hello I read an article about the operation of a valve body and I am currently repairing the one of my truck described in the matter, since it lost rear traction and the truck looks symmetrical there wheel drive. When I measured the solenoid that activates the awd Transfer clutch, it had no current. I opened it and repaired connecting one end that was loose from the terminal and already has power; However, in the manual of the valve body of one of the images that I attached to this email, there are the measurements in omni of each solenoid and in the one that I repaired it says that the measurement in omnion of that is 3.2, but when repairing it and measure it with multimeter, it shows 3.8 and then drops to 3.6 omnios and stays there. Looking for the solenoid on Amazon or ebay, they show several of them and the one that best suits the one I need, says in the notice that the omnios are in a range between 3.2 and 3.7. Do you know what could happen if I install and assemble the solenoid in the valve body with that range of measurements? I appreciate in advance if you can advise me Greetings from Colombia

Good video, valve body did not need to be removed for solenoids and wiring though. Also, I believe they are 6mm bolts, not 8 and 10mm bolts
@ctubeme
@ctubeme 8 месяцев назад
Actually the bolt heads are 8mm and 10mm. Normally bolt sizes are referred to as the size and thread pitch which are probably 5mm with 3/4 pitch and 7mm with either 3/4 or 1.0 pitch. The video producer undoubtedly referred to the bolt head size to prevent confusion.

Ahah!! Why do all the other vids talk about the A and B solenoids but not the other 2? I just changed the A and B, and my fluid and filter, didn't really see any signs that my clutches were burning up, no real excess of material that would make me think clutch material, fluid didn't seem too bad though you could tell it was starting to age... and it'd still shift through gears just fine, but when I let off the gas to coast and tried to throttle again, I'd get nothing but rev until I hit about 3k rpms and it'd finally catch again. If I go ahead and floor it till I get to the next gear everything seems to return to normal, until I'm back within those speed/gear ranges. When I heard the name "3-2 downshift solenoid" certainly rang a bell. Someone tell me if I'm way off track.

Hi, my 4L60e slips while in position 'D' when it gets to 2nd gear at 2500rpm. As if I shoved it in neutral and at 4500rpm or if I let off the gas, it will shift to 3rd gear. But it doesn't slip when in position '2' or if I drive it like I was doing a 0-60 from a dead stop. I tried the longer Sonnax servo pin, and it does the same, exact thing and seems to have a friction sound (not sure if it is binding). Everyone tells be me my 2-4 band is shot but I'm not so sure. So while in '2' I get more fluid pressure than in 'D' and it doesn't slip - what sensor or component controls that pressure? And apart from the band what 'could' be causing this issue. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have a 1995 S10. I was wondering if you could give me some advice on fixing a problem I'm having. I keep blowing the ECM Batt fuse. It only happens when I step on the gas pedal hard. If I press the gas very slowly it doesn't blow the fuse and it only happens in forward no matter what gear but doesn't blow if I hit the gas hard in reverse. I have already eliminated the possibility of the problem being the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, oil pressure sensor and the ECU. The person I bought the truck from said the dealership said it was blowing the fuse because of a solonoid in the transmission and they wanted 1200$ to fix it so he sold me the truck but my check engine light is not on and I don't have an OBD code reader so I'm not sure if it's even tripping a code. The truck had an aftermarket security system when I got it and there was some metal conduit running near the starter that would arc on the starter and blow the Ecm B fuse due to a bad motor mount which I replaced. Also had the aftermarket security system removed. The truck ran good after removing the metal conduit I would drive it just fine, I could step into the gas hard with no problem. I was towing a truck one day on my property and all of the sudden the ECM B fuse blew again and it's been doing the same thing blowing every time I step hard on the gas pedal. The truck revs fine in neutral or park. I've looked for burned or pinched wires that could be grounding out somewhere but I have found nothing. Could my problem be a transmission solonoid or have you ever dealt with something like this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@ctubeme
@ctubeme 8 месяцев назад
The metal conduit is supposed to be bolted to the starter . It shields heat from engine/exhaust from the wiring . The powertrain control modules are fairly sensitive so its possible that the arcing/sparking fried something in the pcm or its wiring issue. The wiring can be fun to find the issue. Good luck

Hello, 1995 was a split year , early models are non PWM , late ones are PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) The easy way to tell is PWM models will always contain the two solenoids on the front corners - one will have a gray stem (connector) , the other will be the white stem (connector). Additionaly in 1996 GM added a vent hole above the manual valve. This hole can be added to older models just so you update to the newer manual valve also. Hope this helps.

they are similiar, but different : 4L60E's have 16 pan bolts RPO Code M30/M32 ::: 4L80E = 17 pan bolts Rpo Code MT1 * also if working on a 1991-1993 then the external harness would also need to be updated we do stock everything possible for all that range of Gm Trucks

You could have told us what each silanode is instead of the code which no one knows? And what each silanode control what in the transmission?

hate to tell the both of you, but you probably know now, that's the weakpoint of these transmissions. most likely your trans has burned out the reverse clutch pack. it happens to almost all of them

Don't use codes alone to diagnosis transmission issues. They may be getting triggered by another problem.

Hello Odi sorry for the late reply, would need much more info if you're still having the no power issue ? would need check engine codes, miles and all the other related specifics to assist in detail.

How difficult would it to design a fully mechanical hydralic pressure operated valve body with speed controlled electric overdrive. Aside from the lock up tourque convertor to the 400 is the same damn thing. Surely one of you lazy rocket scientist can figure out a way to lock up the torque converter in the old school tranny.

It's called a 700-R4. The predecessor to the 4= forward gears, L= ongitudinal, 60= torque rating, E= electronic. Another name for 700-R4= 4L60 no "E"

700r4 with 1 extra check ball 0 zero none no electronics at all and it worked perfectly. I did install the Gil Younger No Yo Yo Sysco-Cal complete reprogramming kit at time of rebuild and it kicked A__ . At the time You could buy a good rebuildable core for $150 then $120 for converter and rebuild kit. I forget how much for the hardened pump rings and 7 vane pump and high heat/friction clutches/steels. I think $25 for the tv(throttle valve) cable and filter kit. Tranny went into 1980 Z-28 so because the 700 is 3" longer than hydramatic 350 I bought a driveshaft from a Chevy Monza which happens to be 3" shorter for like $50 then special u-joints to make driveshaft work. Tranny rebuilt with extras mentioned I installed it I had right at $500 into it. 4th gear locked up with engine at 2500rpm's car was going 85mph. I painted car and new stripe kit then 5 years later some kid drove left of center on bethany home and totaled My car.

Am I able to just swap a new valve body with new harness already on? I also want to know if I can do this without dropping my transmission and just do it from under the truck?
