Hi Guys, In todays video I show you some easy mods that will modernise your Volvo! #Volvo #VolvoMods #Volvohacks Donate to support the Drivelife channel here: www.paypal.me/drivelifeyt
Great video ! You could add some oem mudflaps(£50), leds inside all around (boot, footwel, dome light £15 + t10 sockets £6) licence plate led lamps(£9),oem rubber floor mats (£39)and some dynamic leds signal on mirrors (like audi @£25ish) ... there you go, all from Ebay UK
I changed the 12v cigar port on my 2008 s80 to twin usb fast charging. Only cost like £15 off amazon I think. Love the videos keep it up. S80 D5 for the win in my eyes the best car for motorway use. Love mine I've had 2 S80s 2003 and the 2008 both D5 utter love them oh and I'm 24 but I don't care.
I'm 22 and have had a 1994 Volvo 940 B230FD manual and now a 2005 V70 D5 manual. I like the V70 but I still like the 940 more. The diesel is a good choice for me for the fuel economy compared to petrol, just the thing is that the 940 had less extra electric bs that needs to be repaired. Wind-up windows, no abs, no traction control, just the base model with some seat heaters and a great reliable car that's cheap to fix. The V70's been a bit more expensive for parts and more difficult to repair yourself, as it's got more electronics and less room to work on. The car is great and I love it but still I would rather drive a 940 if I could change now.
I'm 19 and I own an S60 2005. It's one of the CLEANEST cars on the road considering it's been factory lowered and has 17" alloys on it too. The LEDs should make it look a bit better.
Technology wise the best option on a volvo is adding a BLP unit , they add satnav, bluetooth anything, reverse camera, usb's, dab, android auto etc, everything wired to the car's most network, only problem is their customer support which is non existent. Better finding a used unit as they are very expensive
Yeah I don’t understand why they took the time to add the factory Bluetooth module( stuck to the dash kinda cheesy) for just phone calls.... aggravating
Great video. In regards to Bluetooth, did you have original phone connection? If so, after putting the extra Bluetooth box to listen to the music, does it also supports phonecalls? Do the stearing wheel buttons work with that?
In my case my Galaxy Note phone connects to booth radio Hands Free and Bluetooth box connected to AUX. The priority has always Phone so when I am listening to audio and the radio is set to AUX jack input if anyone rings me it will be prioritized and radio will automatically switch to Phone input.
Great video, thanks. I have a 2006 XC90. No Aux ports and wanting to add Bluetooth looked seriously expensive. Like £500. Really miss decent music, but can't justify it.
I have an 08 V50 D5, and i'm in the process of upgrading the lights etc. I am put off by LED headlight bulbs, as it just seems to be so hit and miss, in terms of bulb brightness, beam pattern etc. And some simply won't fit, as they have those obtrusive fans fitted to the back of the bulbs. So I use the Osram Cool Blue intense bulbs, which give a modern, almost brilliant white colour, the correct beam pattern, and a good throw in front of the car at night. And even though they are not supposed to be road legal, they weren't flagged up on my last MOT, but are easy enough to change if they were flagged. I have replaced my front and rear side lights and number plate lights with LED bulbs, and will be replacing the rest of the rear bulbs in due course, as well as all the interior lighting. Not only will it give the car a more modern look and feel, LED bulbs also dramatically reduce the draw on power from your alternator, whilst still giving a good lighting performance, and they are supposed to last much longer too. I have installed a bluetooth module similar to the one in this video, which also allows me to stream music from my phone, and make/receive hands free calls, but I only paid about £15 for mine off of ebay, and it works a treat. It has a separate little control unit that I have stuck to my dash which allows me to skip back and forth through tracks, and a single button for answering and ending calls. I have also installed a K&N panel air filter, which helps with throttle response a little bit, and seems to improve power somewhat, and will save me money over time, as they are washable. I am trying to locate the MAP sensor on my engine, so I can give it a clean, like you did in another video, but my D5 is the earlier Euro 4 variant, so the MAP sensor is in a different location. But I have a Haynes manual, so I just need to spend a bit of time looking through that. But i'm getting there. There are a few jobs that I still need to do, next one being a coolant change. Then I am going to concentrate on the interior. Mine has the cream leather, and is in need of a good clean and leather treatment. It is all about finding the time to do it all, but i'll get there.
Update on the MAP sensor. Had a look in the index of my Haynes manual today, but can't find any reference to it. There is a reference to the MAF, but I know that is not what I'm looking for. So i'm a bit at a loss as to where it is located. I think I will have to get it up on the ramps, and see if it is on or near the intercooler.
I've just bought the 2011 Volvo S40 R design and can't see any USB or aux plug ins! Was this standard? Doesn't make sense seeing most of the other models have them.
I've a 52 plate v70 d5 and miss the Bluetooth in my partners new volvo. I tend to use amazon buds in my car but if I could find a viable Bluetooth option I'd be there like a shot. No aux on my old beastie
You could upgrade the head unit for one that has built in bluetooth, or an aux input. There are kits out there with trim panels to fit a lot of models, but may cost more than you can justify spending.
I run a 2011 s60 2.4 auto Lux it has blue tooth usb charging sat nav etc two points I would love a rear view parking camera not just sensors the second point is regards performance, the transmission has a sport mode which completely changers the car, the engine and box is much more responsive Question is "sport mode" a add on map from Volvo similar to the re map power up grade in the video? ps I love the car
@@Alexander_l322 I already had the cluster bought and i have payed 200€+vat to d5t5.com for the software. If the car has sensus my 2012- you will only pay like 160-170€+vat.
5:04 I like your videos. Please allow me to make a suggestion. When you show the dashboard, do not have the steering wheel upside down! Some Swedish designer took about 17 weeks to design that beautiful steering wheel. Leaving it like that is an insult to his talent.
I do love the BMW's and the VW's are good cars but for me the Volvo is the best car overall, it doesn't do anything special, it just does everything so well!
Yup, if my LED headlight pops, it's £2500 per side. They call this progress. PS, keep an eye on your LED side lights, they go dim. I failed an MoT when that happened.
@drivelife.channel i honestly cant thank you enough for these videos, now on my 5th volvo after 2 940's and 2 V70 t5 (p2)'s, this has been a brilliant source of tips
