I had surgery 3 years ago in april. And I need a revision. Nothing changed for me from the start. I was always able to eat and drink more than I should have been able to. I lost 90 pounds total from the sleeve. But year 3 now. I've gained weight back. But still smaller than I was at the start.

I loved your video it was perfect for me...My surgery was 3/22 and I too hit that day the scale didn't move. I accidentally ran into your video and I am so glad I did. I am going to follow you because I need the motivation. After not seeing the scale move I started not eating but once a day. I've had no issues but I know that's not good for me. Kelsi I know I ran in to your video for a reason. I am on board.

1. For the small portions shock using smaller sized plates helped me a great deal. Target has the children's dinnerware set for .59 a piecebut they also have small soup bowls and salad plates if you want the more sophisticated look. it visually makes the food look more the correct size. 2. On the cravings situation when your appetite really returns make sure you have healthy or keto alternatives so you don't mess up and make your self upset by eating the wrong things. watch keto connect and low carb love 3. my md suggested taking Prilosec at night. we are about 3 days apart in surgery. you need to fix this reflux problem NOW because we need to be healing and and the gastric juices are irritating your esophagus so follow up with MD because I sleep flat but I take the reflux pill like clockwork 4. with the bariatric pill you might end up having to take the liquid. Wellesse Brand or a prenatal liquid. A lot of people have been getting away with just taking a vitamin they can stomach instead of the bariatric ones. I'm doing the Wellesse liquid multivitamin, liquid iron and liquid calcium citrate. IMO I am starting to think the bariatric vitamin community is a scam. I will take the brand I can stomach until my lab work tells me different. I knew before surgery that I couldnt take that bariatric vitamin because they gave us samples and it was nasty then. 5. You almost sound like you need to make an appt with the therapist that cleared you for the surgery. I know you are going through an we are allowed to be in our feelings this is MAJOR life change 6. On the bad breath we are the same😂😂😂I have started carrying a dental care kit in my purse to. definitely needed. I have the actual mini breath spray from Walgreens. they are a life saver!😂😂😂😂 7. and ummm on the scale thing...we and I'm saying we because we are only 3 surgery days apart...its only been 5 weeks, if you are eating correctly, hydrating and getting 30 minutes of walking in that scale is gonna move friend. I want you to acknowledge your feelings but please dont be so hard on yourself. You made the right choice this is a marathon not a sprint. we are in it for the long haul. next year at this time you will be doing a bikini haul in prepartaion for summer. sending you positive vibes and hope you feel better soon! BTW can you do a video on how you are treating your scars

Yes loving this reply !!!!! I am taking the prilosec- that will be discussed in a vid i have about heasrtburn :) The supplements i purchased online are great tasting- they just dont have enough iron, or Vitamin D. So thats why i tried the one my nutri offered. They are so nasty- they are expensive and i feel like i am wasting money lol. I am going to look into the plates from target- hopefully they still have them lol . Yes i have already began chosing leto based alternatives,i am familiar due to stints with keto in the past- Well dear- I did not have to be cleared by a therapist for my surgery with my insurance it was not a requirement lol, so maybe i need to just find a therapist? Thank you for taking the time to address all of my issues i listed. I love the fact that you took the time to let me know your opinion. It lets me know you listen and truly care about my journey!!!

I use my dessert plates now for my dinner and the dinner plate for lunch. I am 2.5 weeks out from starting the pre-surgery liquid diet so going to use dessert plates only going forward. Never heard about the breath issue that is more of a gut issue so I need to find those Listerine chews or something.

Hey can I ask you a question about your experience with vsg ? I am seriously debating doing it. My interest in doing it is because of the intake restriction- you physically can’t eat a lot. Right now I can eat a lot but when I start to feel full I stop because I hate that uncomfortable full feeling.. so I’m thinking the surgery would be great for me because I’ll feel full a lot faster. Would you say the physical cues of hunger stop when you’ve reached your limit while eating ? My fear is that if I do the surgery and I’ll still feel physically hungry (not mental hunger- that is more cravings and gluttony) but you still feel like the empty stomach feeling but you can’t physically eat anymore.. I’m probably not making any sense lol but when I get hungry now I feel the acids rumbling around and my stomach growls- does that feeling persist even after filling your new tiny stomach up- or can you feel full truly with the new restrictions ?

@@kelsi_danielle Just to explain with the original poster was saying: I’m very surprised that they didn’t require you to be cleared by a hospital partnered therapist. The reason for this is with dropping so much weight and not dealing with the emotional ties that you have with food, you are extremely likely to turn to alcohol or substance abuse. Also, people who get bariatric surgery are at higher risk for disordered eating due to not seeing scale victories constantly. And lastly, because of your body not getting enough vitamins are it did before surgery, etc. even though you supplement, you can have body dysmorphia issues, losing hair, etc which will make you depressed. People who get bariatric surgery are at extremely high risk of suicide. That’s the reason for the therapeutic clearance. It seems pretty negligent that your care providers didn’t tell you that or require it from you.

I feel the same way too because I had VSG 7 weeks ago and I only lost 19 pounds and I’m so discourage. I’m not eating a lot not even the 4 oz because I get full before I finish eating. My doctor said I’m not eating enough calories and I’m not eating enough food. I’m stuck at 235 lbs for four weeks in a row, I don’t understand, I’m starting to regret having VSG.

I was sleeved 11/29/16, I cannot stress enough how important retraining your brain prior to surgery is. So much of this is mental/emotional. And it can be tough. Surgery is not a quick fix or a solution to the psychology or emotion relationship most have with food and eating is deeply engrained. Most don't realize until after surgery when they are forced to face them. At that point your backed into a corner and it is tough. Best advice, be honest with yourself, be realistic and don't hide or be ashamed of any of it. Find what works for you, don't be afraid to think and eat outside of the box. I've been pretty successful, no regain whatsoever.

Omg, I am so happy I found you. You are doing great queen, I had gastric bypass 1/15/2021 and I love lost 56lbs in a month and it scared the hell out of me, I’ve been mentally preparing myself but physically seeing it (I used to walk pass my mirror and not look after surgery) and one day I looked and start cried. I embrace it now and I thank you, coming across you channel really helped me. Thank you queen and good luck on your new journey 🥰

I've finally found a video on the post surgery that I like and don't have to keep skipping. Most people blah blah about unnecessary things or go on and on about one thing. I actually teared up a bit when you were talking about how emotional you felt when the scales didn't move. I'm still pre-up because my surgery which was meant to be next week had to be moved. I'm really looking forward to getting this done. I'm now 117kg, 5ft9.5 and beginning to feel pain when I get up and walk. You've got this girl. I'm rooting for you and subscribing.

It's sad your Doctor didn't prepare you for this. I've just started researching, since I'm at the beginning of this process. A lot of this info are things I've already read I need to deal with first. Thank goodness for RU-vid, y'all help a lot My doctor also suggested seeing a therapist to deal with a lot of food addiction issues before I potentially have the surgery. I feel for you, these are conversations your doctor definitely should have had before your procedure. That being said, I'm really glad you're figuring it all out now, It what's a disservice to you to leave you feeling so stranded with lack of information. You are gorgeous woman, and I hope you achieve everything your heart desires.

This is good though, because it shows us that even though we get the surgery, we can still expect to stall right around the time you were expected to, and to not let it defeat us. Whether you lose every weigh-in or not, you are still very inspiring ❤

You are doing so well Kelsi. Yes I get it. There is definitely a psychological battle to losing weight and the struggles you go through to lose weight. Keep the faith. Oh my gosh 27 pounds down in a month wow thats a whole heck of a lot of weight to lose in a month. Good job. I'm glad you have your husband as a support system to speak those words of encouragement to you. See you next week!!! Whoop whoop!! ✌🙌🙌👏👏👏

If only this was brain surgery. Unfortunately, it’s just stomach surgery. The emotional work is the important part of how we show up for ourselves.

Thank you so much for this video. I know a lot of people will have similar struggles. I think everyone who decides to do this surgery should truly research for months the ins and outs of what to expect. It’s also a good idea to speak directly with patients who are months post op to see how life has changed. I also think finding a therapist is very important to having a successful recovery. Food addiction doesn’t vanish with the surgery. The surgery is a tool only, not a magic wand. You’ve got to get clear on why you binge and the feelings attached to it. You’ve got to seriously find healthy ways to cope. I pray everyone has a strong support system and a safe recovery ❤

I feel your pain and defeated feelings. I am seven months out. I tell myself I should be happy because I have gone down 83 lbs but I have been bouncing between down five pounds that put me in onederland and the the next three weeks I gained and lost five pounds. It’s very defeating and stressful and makes you feel like you are failing. So the mental struggles are soo real. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for this video because there are many things you mentioned that I’ve never heard anyone mention, even after all the videos I’ve seen. I need as much information as possible in order to make a well informed decision on whether or not to get the surgery.
