Amazing how much music from the 90's can be found on vinyl. For me it is much easier to find the music from my youth on vinyl as that was in the pre 90's time. Enjoyed watching your video as always.
@AudiophileLaws
@AudiophileLaws 9 лет назад
Hello Martin, Yes, that's true. As a 90s kid it's hard to find some stuff on vinyl while you can almost get it for free on CD. You are right - everything pre 90s is a little easier to find but as we all know there is also some really expensive stuff unfortunately. Thanks for watching my friend :) I appreciate it - you were here since day one! Armien

Hi Armien. I feel your pain about moving. Glad that you are setting up in your new place. Great 90s album. I also like unplugged albums and agree about the emotions in Tears In Heaven. It's such an intimate song that it's even hard to watch. LOL, the singer of Prodigy also used to scare me. I still remember those crazy horns. Great video! Keep the 90s music coming!
@AudiophileLaws

Hi Will, haha yes....those crazy horns.... I have a vivid picture in my head. Glad you liked the video. There is so much great 90s music. I was thinking about doing a series like "We party like it's 1991" or something and show off the best albums of the year. Thanks for watching - have a good sunday :) Armien

Hello, Armien! Good to hear that you're doing more than just fine! Moving is always a pain in the you-know-where but I'm glad to hear that you survived it. You have some interesting stuff there. Björk is pretty weird artist. Definitely not an artist for everybody but some of her music is pretty good. I think I have to take a closer look at her discography at some point. I hote that the local library could help. I bought "Crucify" single by Tori Amos when it was brand new because I liked it and I still like it. Her debut album has some other great songs too. Jeff Buckley's "Grace" is one of those mystery albums but someday I'll get it !!! Prodigy has some good singles and I think I have about half a dozen of those on 12" format. Classics from the 90's! Keep on scorin', Jarkko / MyVinylBar

Hello Jarkko, weird is the right word to describe Björk. Like I said - you lover her or you hate her. Cool to hear that you bought the Crucify single when it came out. Thanks for watching my friend - I will finally have some good internet end of the week so I can watch all things I missed. All the best! Armien

Good to see you back. I was away from making videos for a month myself. I agree on Clapton. Considering how good his early stuff is it is very disappointing how mediocre is later stuff is. Some good 90s albums. I'm trying to find favorites of the 90s myself. Though I never got rid of my vinyl I stopped buying vinyl in the 90s.

Nice update! The original Björk "Debut"-album for 35€ is a real bargain in my opinion. As a kid I won the Prodigy-cd at Studio Brussel (Belgian national radio) and I have been terrorizing my parents for months with that album :) Nowadays, "Hallelujah" coverversion is the big classic from Jeff Buckley, but at that time his big hitsingle here on the Belgian radio was "Everybody Here Wants You" from his posthumous album "Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk". Definately going to look after Vitalogy, my Pearl Jam-collection is limited to cd. Love the "Unplugged"-album by Eric Clapton as well. Hooverphonic first 5 albums were pretty good for that time, although they become every time a little poppier. "Blue Wonder Power Milk" was reissued for RSD15. Great stuff ... Except for the single "What's My Name?", I never liked Snoop Dogg ... To me he looks too much like a manufactured major label-product. To me the 90's was a mix of 'alternative' mtv videos & studio brussel + loads of techno, house, trance. At that time I was buying mostly compilations of dj's, Belgian-clubs and some German stuff as well from Mayday, Superstition, Sven Väth, Trésor, Ian Pooley, Oliver Lieb, Andry Nalin, but also Jam & Spoon (Tripomatic Fairytales 2001).. As a kid / teenager my budget was quite limited.
@AudiophileLaws
@AudiophileLaws 9 лет назад
Hi Tim, I love Studio Brussels. I started listening to it a lot in the early 2000s since they had the "internet radio" very early. I loved the DJ live sets that came live from this famous Techno club in brussels back then. I still have one by Dj Hell. I can imagine that this CD terrorized your parents :D Talking about Pearl Jam's Vitalogy: I bought my Music On Vinyl copy at the Media Markt in Hasselt. Good to hear your opinion on the 90s! As a young boy / kid I was mostly listening to cheesy stuff in the 90s but I rediscovered most of the good things a few years later. Electronic music also had a big impact on me. When I look at my CD shelf there are also a lot of Mayday and other Rave compilations. I even listened to some Hardcore and Gabba at some point. The good old Thunderdome covers..... Growing up at the dutch and belgian border definitely gave different musical influence! Thanks for watching my friend! I always love to hear those old "personal" stories. Have a good sunday :) Armien

Hi there, I love the 90's too. Grew up in that era, and you showed some wonderful albums. No comment on the "under rated" EC hehe.. Couldn't disagree more, OK I guess I did comment lol. Loved the video though otherwise (Jeff Buckley is brilliant) and you have a wonderful camera presence. I have to check out that Hooverphonic LP, i'm not familiar but I love the trip hop genre. Take care Armien.

Some great finds! I used to come across original copies of Vitalogy all the time, but seems anymore those are getting more harder to come by in the U.S. too, although when it comes to original 90s copies Vs. (which I believe was also released on vinyl before cd) and Vitalogy are probably the two albums I've came across multiply times, then any other album. I also have the Legacy reissue of Vitalogy and the original definitely sounds better then that one, I have heard by a lot of people the music on vinyl reissue is way better sounding then the Epic Legacy reissue though, although I've personally never had a bad experience with music on vinyl, definitely quality pressings!
@AudiophileLaws
@AudiophileLaws 9 лет назад
doink317 That's good to hear! I also have the Legacy pressing of Ten (the one with the different cover). I would love to get an original copy of this album but it became so expensive. When I started collecting it could be found for around 20-30$. Now its more like 60+. Thanks for watching and have a good sunday :) Armien

Hello Armien,I forgot to congratulate you with your new job and wish you all the best in your new town.....in my hometown i can't find that many original 90's vinyl...still looking for that bjork and clapton album..but if i run out of patience i think i'll buy both the reissues. You showed some really nice records in your video...another fantastic 90's album that will be reissued in july is the No need to argue album by the Cranberries...been waiting for quite some time for that album to be reissued...original is too expensive!! Also an album for your collection??.. cheers,Marcel('s-hertogenbosch,netherlands).
@AudiophileLaws
@AudiophileLaws 9 лет назад
Hi Marcel, thanks for the kind words. Yes - finding 90s stuff is always complicated. I am also buying a lot of reissues. Talking about "No Need To Argue".... It's funny that you mentioned it cause my copy arrived one day after I recorded this video. I was trying to get it on vinyl for ages. I was scared that the reissue label Plain Recordings would mess it up but the reissue is okay. They did a good job on the remaster and the Gatefold cover. The only big con is that the pressing has a lot of noise and crackling although I cleaned it 3 times. Never the less - we take what we can get. Thanks for watching :) Armien

Hi Amien Glad to see you on here again and hope things are going well post-move. Gave a great weekend. Tori Amos - great first record Clapton - agree, some good stuff but a lot that's not Pearl Jam - great and I'm getting that today hopefully ! Jeff Buckley - Grace is awesome, cool choice indeed and the whole album drops with quality Interesting that Leftfield album released on vinyl - remember that well and played to death at the time Keith Flint was a bit hyper-active; songs still good though Metallica - prefer the earlier stuff but great advice on the pressing Cool post as always

Hi Armien, good to see you again. I agree with Eric Clapton being overrated. He has done some great songs, but his style is a bit boring! I really like "Layla" though, both in this unplugged version and the original version. Back when that Prodigy-album was released i wasn't a Prodigy-fan at all, but i learned to become that a couple of years ago. However i remember 1997 when i was on a tour against drunkdriving around Sweden as a festival-DJ, i had the luck of playing "Firestarter" to a massive firework the festival had! It was really fun! I have just discovered some great songs from Hooverphonics album "Presents Jackie Cane" from 2002! The song "One" is highly recommended! Great 90s video! Take care! :)

Hi Armien. I´m here again, from Argentina. I´m planning to travel to NYC 9 days in November ,with my daughter, my nephew, and my father (he´s 87!!). My wife and son are not travelling this time. I've been many times in Miami, but NYC is my first time. Can you tell me which would be (two or three) of the best record stores in/near Manhattan? My strongest interest is in used (but in good shape) jazz-classic rock-rythm and blues records. As always, thank you for your videos, you´re (sincerelly) the best !! Juan Carlos.

Hi Armien Glad to see you back my friend, hope the move went well, and you're settling into the new job. So, Clapton overrated eh? Yes and No i would say, i do think he has been given more credit than perhaps other more talented guitarists, but i feel with Clapton, he has an almost instantly recognisable sound, he has that way with a guitar that many others guitarists that are technically better don't have. I need to track down a copy of the Bjork debut, her new album is really good too. That Tori Amos album like you say is really well mastered, I have listened to the follow up, but didn't notice any mastering issues? Love that Prodigy album, so many great tracks on there, and to finish with the Black Album, good choice, I have the Simply Vinyl re-issue mastered by Bernie Grundman and that sounds awesome, i used to have the original back in the day, just trying to find another that hasn't been played to death, ha ha. Take care. Dean
@AudiophileLaws
@AudiophileLaws 9 лет назад
Hi Dean, thanks for tuning in! I am getting more and more used to the new rooms. There was a huge discussion about the two Tori Amos reissues in the german analog board. Most of the people said that there is a mastering problem on under the pink. They said that the signal changes 180° and the stereo field gets wrong. Since I don't have the reissue I can't verify it. Oh yes - the Black Album as Simply Vinyl must be fantastic as well. The "old" Simply Vinyl pressings were always top notch. Thanks for watching and enjoy your weekend. Here in Germany it's unbelievable hot. Armien

Clapton is an amazing guitarist. In that regard, I don't think he's underrated. That said, his solo work *is* very overrated. Pretty much all of his most interesting work is when he's collaborating with other great musicians, Tears in Heaven excepted. I'm very jealous of that Bjork pickup...
@AudiophileLaws
@AudiophileLaws 9 лет назад
I couldn't agree more! I also enjoy the stuff Clapton makes in collaboration with others. Some of his solo stuff is boring and cheesy. Never the less he is an important person in music history.
