An actually serious video for once. This is how a normally high quality filter, had a small fault in it that damaged my engine, and what you really need to be paying attention to.
I had a oil filter collapse on me @2500 miles after oil change , drove me crazy watching the oil pressure drop to 0 psi at Idle , no engine noise or ovrheating , replaced sending unit no change, people were telling me my bearings are probaly worn out along with the cam bearings, engine has 266000 miles and running strong what change all of a sudden? change oil and filter , no more problem
I have just put a timing chain on a jeep liberty V6 and oil and filter. After about 80 miles that I drove it, in about a week I started to here noise at startup. It became worse everytime at startup cold and then started when it was warm. I suspected the oil filter and I got a new one and installed it. After the first startup I never heard any noises. When I took a look at the filter I noticed the anti drain seal was deformed and with no significant force applied the filler guts I could see movement side to side. If I told the owner to take it before changing the filter, they definitely could have destroyed the engine and probably would blame me. A dam brand new car quest filter. That Ford engine was notorious for filter drain and it was always best to use by Motorcraft filters. How ever on my mustang , I used a small filter for pressure that took maybe one sec. That motor you have, you might want to install new rod bearings and mains while you are there. Those engines were built and lasted a 4-5 hundred thousand miles but the oil must be changed regularly or at best 2500 miles.
I changed my car’s filter the other day. It was a Bosch filter. When I finally got it loose. Nothing came out of the filter. Only like some at the bottom Will definitely check filter for sparkles. Car has been sitting for like 4 months.
Just wanted to say I had chain slap in my 1GRFE out of nowhere. Clean motor. Everyone kept saying all 1GRs do it or that it was cam phasers. Sure enough, I pulled the filter off and it was bone dry. If only I had caught it a bit sooner as I am about halfway through an oil cycle. WixXP too...
That's crazy. Thought i was a legit carguy until i realized i didn't know something this important. Did the oil pressure warning light at least come on every time you started the engine cold?
Am suspecting my car with this oil filter, because,I get a small knock on timing chain, n the brand of oil filter isn't usually u use, because I keep smelling oil as rev up,it burns but oil is same level or at least no change, pcv valve got some oil in it
