A lot of babies are born with super dark hair and then it gets lighter or falls out and grows in lighter. So for him to automatically jump to “you cheated” is definitely hurtful and unfair.

Yep. My dad, my uncle, and my two siblings were all born with bright blond hair that turned dark by the time they turned 12. lol I was the opposite and I was born with jet black hair that turned medium brown. You can’t trust kids hair.

Also Dark hair is the most common in the world and lighter hair is a recessive gene so a kid can totally be born with a different hair colour than their parents but if they can’t do math I doubt they know shit about science smh

Story 1: this is textbook emotional manipulation- this man should not be in a relationship. There’s definitely a chance he is doing all this just to break her in- that’s how you get someone in the mindset of “everything is my fault” always on your toes

Yep, my PhD focused on non-physical partner violence, and whilst I don't have enough info to conclude emotional abuse, but it's pretty textbook to see these behaviours in abusive relationships. As are the threats of self harm.

Had a guy friend whose "Ex" girl friend used to send him texts like that all the time. Told him she was insecure and sus and full of red flags and he deserved better. People who act like thatwhom use their traumas and past as a justification to treat people in some kinda way and at some point its just too extra. I agree people like those two have no buisness dating.

I got pregnant about 10 years ago, and it was a shit show. My boyfriend at the time was always talking about that he wanted kids and to have a family and I didn’t want kids at the time. But I was in love with him and I thought that ok, we could make it work since he’d be an active father in the kids life etc. And well, we hadn’t said like “now we’ll try for a baby” but since he was saying all the time that he wanted a child with me and since he didn’t want to use pretection, I change my mindset to “whatever happens happens”. And then I got pregnant. And hell opened its gates. He got mad at me for getting pregnant and wanted me to have an abortion, while I wanted to keep it. It’s like the rolls got reversed completely. We had a fight because apparently he wanted to have a baby after he had turned 30. (He was 29 years old at the time so if he’d done the math he’d realize he’d already be 30 when the baby would be born) and he was not ready for a kid and I was ruining his life. I tried to discuss it with him but he shut it down by saying that “you can’t resonate with pregnant women”, implying that the hormones were making me sentimental and that I couldn’t think clearly etc. He ended up breaking up with me and told me that if I kept the baby he would never recognize it as his baby. I was devastated. After thinking long and hard, I decided to not keep the baby, since I was single, with no job at the time and my child would have had a deadbeat dad who’d never be in its life. There were a lot of factors to me taking the decision and it was really hard for me. I had no support, because I could not tell my family either, so I went through it all alone. After a little while, he found out somehow (I guess through a mutual friend) about the abortion and then he decided he wanted me back since I was not pregnant anymore. He was begging me, stalking me, threatening to kill himself and even saying that if I got back with him we could have another baby. I did not go back to him, but he stalked me on social media for years, also asking people for my number, my new address etc. A few years later I couldn’t handle it anymore with him finding my number again and messaging me with threats of killing himself, so I ended up forwarding everything to his dad and haven’t heard from him since. But yeah, it was hell. Him wanting a baby and then dumping me for being stupid enough to get pregnant, and then stalking me to get me back after he found out that I didn’t keep the baby.....

I get wanting to still live your life after kids, but I’m so tired of going to spaces obviously designated for adults and there’s kids. I went to a birthday pool party at my friends house and these couples brought their nearly newborn babies. They were shocked there was loud music and people drinking. They even requested the music be turned down. Also, bars and breweries are not for kids. I thought that was common sense.

That is crazy to do! I've taken my daughter (she's 3) twice to my SIL's house on Halloween and she has a party on Halloween, I knew what the party was like before she was born. Outside the kids play in the backyard until it's time for the dads to take them trick or treating, or they can go upstairs with my daughter's cousins and some adults supervising them where the music isn't as loud. The main floor there's a bar with bartenders, and music. Never have I ever asked her to lower the music, I just take her to a different part of the home that's better suited for her, and then we head home after trick or treating and say our goodbyes like the majority of parents. I'm not going to tell anyone or anywhere to do any of that crazy stuff!

Polyamory/ Polyamorous Relationships aren’t a “third” it’s more like a group of people who are all dating each other at once, and the size of a polyamorous relationship can be as small as 3 but I’ve seen some polycules as big as 6 people. And as for the story, OP isn’t the asshole but it’s definitely a hard choice they have to make considering that Dave would also be included in photos and videos from the day, meaning that they can’t just suck it up, because they’ll have to see him every time they want to look back on their wedding especially since their relationship seems pretty new (considering Dave’s age and the fact OP barely knows them) it’s just safer to keep them out of it then have to cringe once it falls apart (age gaps rarely work out in poly relationships)
@JewelWildmoon
@JewelWildmoon 9 месяцев назад
Yeah I agree with the top comment about that. Though I do disagree with the comment they made degrading Dave into just "the weird stranger they fuck" 😅 If anything, it would make the parents the weird ones considering the age gap (nothing against it, but just using the commenter's logic).
@lpsmadgirl23
@lpsmadgirl23 9 месяцев назад
@@JewelWildmoon precisely why I said age gaps don’t work in a relationship like this, especially because the parents have been married to each other for such a long time, Dave is disadvantaged in this relationship and might break it off later due to being in a totally different stage of life then his other partners
@JewelWildmoon

@Manon627
@Manon627 8 месяцев назад
sure but i 100% get why people would look at dave as the third. the parents obviously had a long established relationship as a couple( im guessing around 18-20 years) and now they have a significantly younger man added to it who also lives in OPs room so its not like they all have equal ground in the relationship or the house
@lpsmadgirl23
@lpsmadgirl23 8 месяцев назад
@@Manon627 i see that but on the other side it can very well possible that Dave is the first partner they felt comfortable bringing around their kids and let it be known to their kids or first serious pairing. And I also wanted to comment due to the hosts giving their own experience with one stating that they think “one of them is being cheated on” and how they kinda boiled it down to a “third” when polycules can be much larger and complex. But I do agree with what you’re saying, as I don’t believe their pairing will last long due to the imbalance in the relationship. It’s just, I wouldn’t call my parents polyamorous if they haven’t at least been in one or two other relationships

@@fredericksaxton9782 How long could they really have been dating before he moved in, and why did he move in at all at this point? Is it for financial reasons? The parents already have so much more power as the preexisting couple, their financial capacity and age. If Dave wants to break up, will he be homeless? Why don't they care to grow Dave's relationship with their son? (And this is subjective but I'd definitely feel weird about my son's bedroom changing to my partner's, who is my son's age.

On the good stepdad thing, my stepdad fully was my male father figure other than the odd weekend or vacation with my Dad. My twins have both of their names as middle names, and both walked me down the aisle. He's the one who helped when they were babies and helped me with my homework or swim meets growing up. He's called Grampa just like my dad, he's earned that. Never once did I say you're not my dad, my mom said that was his worst fear as we definitely butted heads as a teenager. He asked my permission to marry my mom, and never treated me any differently than my half siblings. He even took me aside after they were born to say that he'd waited until they were actually born to definitely say to me that he felt no different about them than me. I got an awful stepmom and an amazing stepdad, so I figure it evens out and I still got lucky.

My dad dit the same with my sisters (appart from asking about the marriage because they were too young). And my oldest sister has the same attitude. My mother had previous marriage, and got my 2 sisters. Then when they we're about 5 and 6 she met my dad, separated and got me with the new husband. So technically they are my half-sisters. But we grew up together and my dad was also their dad. He always saw us 3 as his childern, and has always treated us the same. My sisters were every other weekend with their dad and just did fun things like going to Disneyland. But i think much of the raising was done by my dad. My oldest sister always stated that she was so lucky to have two dads. And she choose to have mom walk her on her wedding. I think it the end actually everyone played a role there. Her attitude in a way was also very validating for me. I never felt less of a sister. The middle sister is a bit more turbulent. And she for example tends to call my dad by his name instead of dad. But I think in the end she know he is always there for her.

Childfree lady - you're NTA and you're in a different chapter in your life, perfectly okay to want a kid free night. With that being said, find some new friends with no kids if you hate kids that bad. You can't control if parents bring their kid or not, anything can happen (babysitter canceled, dad is working, grandparent isn't available). Sometimes moms don't want to bring the kid but have no choice but to do it, that doesn't mean they can't have a social life because YOU'RE uncomfortable.

Two things: I'm going to to be the odd person out and say that I'm willing to do a paternity test. Only because I've seen what happens when people break up. I've had cousins who have either told or been told by the significant other that the kid isn't their's out of anger during a huge fight. As a result, the kids didn't see their other parent until a paternity test was done. People can say they would never do that but so did my family members before they broke up with their significant others due to a bunch of reasons. Secondly, I'm glad the guy knew he didn't want kids. That being said, he said some pretty misgonistc things against girls. He mentioned how he didn't want a girl because girls are the worst and his sister gave their parents hell when she was a teen and girls just do that. That's when I went, "It's a really good idea you're getting the snip now. Kinda wish you had done it earlier but I'm glad you're doing it now."

Also, the fact that he will still pay child support is a good thing because I support a person’s choice to not be a parent and not provide child support, but must help cover the medical expenses for prenatal and postpartum care. I don’t have anything against poly relationships, however the fact the parents partner is the same age as their son is VERY weird to me, and if I was in his position I would not feel comfortable having them included in my wedding especially if I don’t know them. Even if I DID know them, I’d still feel weird, because with the similarity in ages it would be like if one of my friends became my parent and that’s still fucking weird. Dave is not a parent, and doesn’t seem like he wants to be, considering OP didn’t know him, and since he’s making no effort to be apart of his life why should he have to invite him to a wedding? Arguably one of the biggest events of a persons life? Even if the couple wasn’t poly, like hypothetically say my mom was dating a dude I didn’t know and was my age, who made no effort to know me, I still would not invite him to my wedding. She either comes alone or not at all and I think that’s justified in itself

@@fredericksaxton9782 I'm entitled to my opinion, and nowhere said they could not move on. I cannot say I know what the OP was going through, but personally, my mother DID remarry a man who is not my bio father, but he is present in my life and treats me with respect. He's not a perfect father figure, but I don't expect him to be, he makes an effort and that's what matters. The problems not them moving on, the problem is making no effort to know their child but wanting to go to their wedding, regardless of the age thing. They don't have to be a parent, but to make no effort to be friendly is a red flag and I would not invite them for that reason. The same would go for a biological absent parent, if you make no effort to be family, you don't get treated as such.

Hyde and Jekyll didn’t look anything a like, but shared the same body and transformed by taking an elixir. Well guess what Hyde tries to take over Jekyll runs out of elixir and effectively dies. last person is definitely not the asshole. i think a few people in the comments are a bit dismissing of polyamory, but (1) i find it really weird that they're dating someone the same age as their child, personally, (2) he and his fiance ultimately have control over who comes to the wedding. if dave isn't invited, dave isn't invited. (3) seems to me like a new relationship - if the parents had been seeing dave long enough for op to actually form a connection with him, he would probably just be invited no questions asked. a general rule is that if you have to seriously consider if want someone at your wedding, you probably don't.

Regarding the polycule one: I don't think OP is the asshole but I do think not having their parents at the wedding is going to bite them in the ass more down the road than letting "Dave" attend. Like i get it, it is weird that they picked someone so young for their polycule. But, weddings are a huge deal for families and the parents absent is going to be Noticed by other guests more than a random guy being around. Not to mention, it's going to damage their relationship with their parents in a most likely permanent way. Like yes, it's ultimately their wedding and thus they are fully in the right to pick who goes-- but just be aware you're pulling the nuclear option that'll have long lasting consequences and consider if it's really worth it. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

It depends. My borther had a vasectomy, and had to go to several urologists for until one agreed (he was 27 at the time). That urologist told him that 90% of women wanted kids (who knows where the evidence is for that) so he would need to be comfortable with "just the extra 10%". My brother said he was fine and that he got it done. He still does sperm coubt tests because there were cases of reattachtment (there are 2 vasectomies: 1 when it is tied, the "reversible" one, and the one he chose, "permanent", when they cut the tube)

Commenting on the first story; I had a close friend who started dating an older man who was filthy rich and divorced multiple times. I noticed he started becoming increasingly possessive and she would have to whip out her phone and reply in a split second or he would go off. I talked to her many times, and she became increasingly withdrawn and more enveloped in their relationship until she lost all rights over her own life. She always felt everything was her fault and was not allowed her own social circle or to go out without him. We lost contact, and last year it broke my heart to hear she died from "accidentally" falling down their many, many flights of stairs. Be careful ladies, be strong, and know when to run the F out of there. Rest in peace love.

And I know that my opinion rankles a lot of people's feathers but I honestly cannot bring myself to care. I think fair is fair. A woman can very much get their tubes tied these days easily, we always tell the men to get the snip but never acknowledge women also have this option and women regularly lie about BC to try and trap a man in a relationship or for Child Support.

Our situation was a little different (we were irresponsible one time after a night of drinking) and I ended up deciding I wanted to keep the baby. Our relationship was also new, so when I sat him down and told him I did not have any automatic expectations for him to be a dad, but that this was a decision I felt was right for myself and I respected his choice too. Luckily he did end up wanting to be involved but I can’t imagine trying to force that on someone who has made it clear they don’t want a kid.

By that logic, does that dad not love his child unconditionally because he loves his wife more? Also prioritizing a child who was brought into the world by you, and possibly your partner, is not a bad thing. You chose to bring them into the world, and the goal is to have a partner who understands your love for your child and, at the bare minimum, respects that, and ideally would match that, because that is their child too. Now, when the child is grown up and out of the house as an adult taking care of themselves, and you and your partner are alone together again, then you are able to prioritize that partnership again. Why does prioritization have to mean loving someone more or less? It doesn’t. So many people confuse the two, and it leaves people feeling unloved. If mothers did not prioritize their children then we would never have survived as a species.

For sure. It's always disheartening, and it happens constantly irl. It's like people are incapable of understanding that you can love more than one person and they always make it about sex. OP says it's a polycule, so the parents are in a relationship with Dave, not just having sex with him. He's also living with them, and they clearly want him to be at a family function (the wedding) where all their loved ones will see him. So he seems like a big part of their life, and although the age gap is a worry re: power dynamics, Dave is an adult. OP invalidating their relationship is just gonna loose him his parents.

The case of the 3 month relationship getting pregnant and the bf wanting to leave happened to my ex partner. Before we got together he started a sexual relationship with a coworker and in 2/3 months she got pregnant. In our country termination of pregnancy is legal and so there was a discussion about an abortion. They agreed they would have one (she had one kid from before who was about 7, father wasn't in the picture either). He got the money and went to drop it to her and then she says she wants to keep it. He didn't agree. They broke up basically but he had to basically watch her be pregnant at work. His family forced him to sign the birth certificate (alot of guilting and crying and shaming him, manipulation). Before the baby is even born the lists of all the baby stuff started. He would give her stuff. All the while he has asked for a paternity test. He would give her whatever she needed. She would get mad and basically smear campaign within the office. He was essentially pushed out of the company he was going to take over as the director. He left, and she kept asking for stuff. He kept asking for the test. Until the child was like 3 yr old she finally admitted that she didn't think of the child's emotional needs when she decided to keep him. Because he started to distance himself even though his mother kept close. Kind inappropriately close even against his wishes. We got together. He would go see her from time to time but since we broke up like 2 yrs ago I have no clue what's going on now. To this day we don't know if the child is his. She said she would just take his name off when he asked again for the 3rd time or so.

My polycule consists of about 8 people total but our relationships are all separate I’ve been with one person for almost 7 years, my other partner for 3 years. My partner of 7 has a partner (that i don’t date) for 2 years and my other partner is only dating me at the moment. I have another partner is is a QPP (queer platonic partner) which means not romantic but we consider each other partners. My partner of 7 years also has a QPP who is dating someone that has a boyfriend so technically they’re apart of our polycule also but more distant. It's her wedding but she's still the asshole. That's like saying your divorced parent's new partners can't come. And I know you guys, you'd say she was the asshole if she didn't want a gay, trans, or person of colour there, right??? Why is a different kind if relationship any different?????? She doesn't like Dave for personal and petty reasons, and that's no different than a homophobe not liking someone for being gay. "If she liked him" doesn't count when it's simply because she doesn't personally like a relationship dynamic. It doesn't matter if you don't like a guy because he's different, you're an asshole for being petty. Polyamory isn't "wild". You don't get how it "works in real life" because you've been raised around monogamy, just like homophobes who were only raised around straight people. "I don't get how being gay works, that's wild, you can't even have kids!" Like...so??? It's just people who happen to work differently. It just seems like a very biased situation because so many people seem to be against poly people, even though it's just a different relationship dynamic. No different than being gay being just another type of sexuality. When is this weird bias against different people going to end????? I usually wouldn't be so pissed, but I kerp seeing this everywhere. People judging poly people and even mocking them, I just don't get why. I get sick of hearing it, it's so disheartening.
