I'm a banjo player. A lot of what he was doing were using pretty standard bluegrass rolls for banjo. But assembling them into order for songs like this in a cover...he basically had to reverse engineer the song and teach himself to play it. Not easy. And all of the musicians had to do that. Using runs they are familiar with, but reassembling them in a way that adapts to how different a song like this from bluegrass. These cover and pickin' on guys are pretty much the peak of musicians. It's not at all easy, and I couldn't do it like this I don't think. Not without a LOT of work.
@@spudroland6571 he only has 1 moustache and his voice is clean like no stutter or cracks and his moustache is excellent because it looks good and his music is excellent
Sometimes I wish the internet wasn't the size of space, you literally have to sift through soooooo much shit before you find the pay dirt and a gem like this. Excellent talent here...
There is a band called the native howl and the only way I can think of to describe them is thrash grass it is like thrash metal with blue grass instruments
Yeah… I hate bluegrass!!! Well… NOT so much the music but the “bluegrass musician”, if you will, due to the simple fact that my wife left me because a “bluegrass musicians” was “fingering the holy F out of her g-stringed instrument” one night, thus she NEVER returned home to me after that one night of fingered ecstasy that he provided her with!!! So, if you take away anything from my story, PLEASE just let it be, “do NOT let the lady you love around nobody that plays in a bluegrass band!!!”. Your relationship may very well suffer the same exact fate as mine!!! I still cry like a big ol’ baby every time I hear a bluegrass song!!! 😂😂😂🤪🤪🤪💯💯💯
I am slightly happy about lockdown in Britain right now, as without it, i wouldn't have listened to this masterpiece. I am listening to it for a task that i have from my school. I know that virus+lockdown is probably the worst thing that will happen this year, but i am glad it led me to listening to this.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this. I grew up in Tennessee where Bluegrass was king. But this sets a whole new standard guys! Pure ear candy!
Here in Appalachia we consider ourselves apart from rest of the U.S. We fly our American flag proudly, without a doubt...but our home is here in these hills. We have brogues, drawls, and anyone not from these hollers plays hell trying to understand a single word we speak. Bluegrass seems to call from within us to ancestors across the pond. Lot of us are miners. We remember the tin miners in England. Lot of us are masons. We remember the stone fields of Scotland. Bluegrass isn't American. It's Appalachian.
Kris Nelson Kentucky bluegrass has its background influence mixed from Irish, Scots, European, And African blues music. But it's a very young American genre of music from around the 1940's. Yeah, there's always been music from the immigrants that came to the mountains around here, but that's not bluegrass. Bluegrass is purely American, mixed from everything.
A random traveler stayed at my house from the Netherlands. Said he played banjo. I invited bluegrass friends over for a jam. He could play Foggy Mountain Breakdown and a couple other songs.
If you haven’t already you might want to check out Michael Cleveland’s version of Julian Lennon’s song, “Too Late for Goodbyes.” A wonderful interpretation of another pop song.
You never heardJoe Cockers cover of with a little help from my friends. Never thought anyone would do a Beatles cover and it be better than the original.
My little brother gave me thier Fade to Bluegrass cd, I was an instant fan. I don't think they have covered one song that I dislike. Thanks little brother!! I miss you every god-damned day!! I'll see you again soon enough, It'll be awesome to play with you again. It took two years before I could even look at my guitars without breaking down. I got it now though, it just took me time to figure out that playing music is the only thing that makes me closer to you! I love you! R.I.P. Jason
Mind blown! I am not sure why I clicked on this, but, I truly have no words to describe how great this sounds!!! I’m 50 years-old and believe the greats should never be ‘tampered’ with, but, again, I am at a loss for words. Thank you to whoever posted this.
These guys could bluegrass on the map. Those harmonies aren't any accident. It's from years of learning bluegrass, which teaches superb vocal training.
anyone who doesn't like this does not realize the immense TALENT and SKILL it takes to perform on this level. i for one appreciate and can respect. well done fellas! well done.
My one and only complaint about this band is they consistently make me question whether I enjoy the original or this version better. Darn you Iron Horse, why you gotta be so good?!?!?!
Having listened to the original for so long and getting bored with the same 'ol same 'ol, I feel you hit the nail on the head. These versions are a breath of fresh air and I am enjoying them very much so.
I agree wholeheartedly with you both. However, I'm not entirely convinced of Iron Horse until they cover either: "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo," by Tribe Called Quest, or, "Last Episode," by Snoop Dogg and friends.
Amazing creative rendition!!! I have performed this particular Elton John song so many times, and I love making great covers musically and emotionally my own. I love these guys!!! It's impossible to count how many times I have listened to this gem. And now I have a new partner and best friend and we are doing the same to many classic songs!!! I can never imagine this world 🌍 "never" having a thing called music. 💎 🎶🎶🎶🎶
I have never posted a comment on youtube before, but this deserves one. I am extremely impressed! I dont typically like bluegrass, but y'all are some talent men! I adored your cover quite possibly more than the original. You got a fan in me!!!
Absolutely brilliant!!!! How does this not have 100,000,000 Trillion views, it is so awesome! Thank you guys, good luck and keep up the awesome work!!!
DauntlessEagle1776 when my ancestors first emigrated here they lived in the southern states. I'm Scottish and Irish my grandmother's maiden name is McIntosh and I recently became a Covenor for Clan Mackintosh of North America. So you're correct in saying that the south consists of those Scottish and Irish roots! 😉
I'm from Ireland and just love this kind of music absolutely smashed this song and other ones too I've been listening to it the last 3 weeks straight hahah
+Rooster Blue I think what he means is this is music they are performing from raw talent. No computer generated over tracks. No voice altering technology. Just some talented guys playing music how they enjoy playing it. one does not need to be a bluegrass music fan to appreciate the quality with which they play.
Brilliant! I love this song and bluegrass too so this fits. And I have to say this song plays well with this style of vocals, especially the parts where they harmonize together.
