A fresh perspective of the Otosys im100 - now in 2023 it functions better. You must have an internet connection to actually do anything on a car. Must have a passcode as well. The walk-through on immo is straight forward and easy, even though some of the instructions are loosely translated, like "whether ignition turns on with two engine stop/start pushes", basically means "can you turn the ignition into the ON position by hitting the button twice?" Very powerful tool. I use it daily.
Now that you've had the auro otosys for a while, what's your take on it vs. the maxisys? I'm contemplating buying one. Mostly would use for programming keys and remotes.
I like the im100. It does a good job on keys. The diagnotics portion is lacking. You get all systems on all makes for read and erase codes. Some special functions but not like the autel. The choice between the two i guess Depends on what you do . For me I don't just do keys. Even when I do I grab the autel first when I know it will do a certain key. For chrysler or vw I grab the im100 . If you do keys only the im100 is a good start. If your looking for the most bang for your buck the autel 100 percent is better.

I really enjoyed watching your videos I was wondering if you had any tips your willing to share with me, I work for a repo company and slowly getting into keys we get a lot of toyotas Hyundai’s nissans, I know when it comes to key cutting machine I’ll go with the sec-e9. What affordable key programers and other tools would you recommend ?
Hey Jack. Great Videos. Keep making them please. One question though. I have a 2006 Mazda Mazdaspeed6 GT with the Credit Card Smart Keys. My trunk sensor went out and when I replaced it, my keyless entry system won't work now. I was thinking of getting either a MS906BT or MS908 for my shop. Do you know if either of those could reprogram the keyless system? Or would I need to get something like this IM100?

Have you gotten an IM 600 to try yet? I just got one a month ago and am trying it out . So far it seems a pretty good tool for a mechanic with experience (I've been wrenching the last 50 years myself.) It is 4300 bucks or so, and I wonder if you have tried one yet? I like other guy's slant on stuff too.
Scotty Kilmer no i haven't. .i'm up in the air on it. I actually thought about leasing one a month or two ago and called about it through iks . Please let me know as you use it how you like it. A tool that will do alomst everything i need in one package would be amazing. The problem i have is that it's $4300 and not carried by anyone other then iks to where i can demo it. It is in beta version right now so its risky. I know they are offering lifetime updates at the moment for those willing to buy it in beta which is huge. I would buy one in a heartbeat if i could demo it for a few days and see if it can really do what they claim. I just can't bring myself to pay $4300 for something I can't try. When i called the rep at international key supply I blasted him with questions about special functions i use daily and if it could do it. He told me he would have to call and find out and that the Facebook page would be me best best. I never got a call back and my private kind of stopped there. I'd love to know more if you are willing to let me know how it is as you use it.
well, I of course did not buy one, I have over 320 million youtube views so I get stuff free all the time to test out from companies who hope I like them and make a video out of them. So far I'm pretty happy with the unit, but of course, only time will tell
Do you think this is better to try over the im608 since I have the Autel elite, Bosch ADS625 and the Snap On zues so I don’t really need the scanner function that one looks like an elite body or mx808
Hi Jack. Will it do a parameter reset on a 2014 and up Ford Fusion or Focus? Also, can it program proximity keys to a newer Chrysler that has a rolling pin code like a 2019 Charger? Both of these procedures require a VSP/LSID license, but I would like to know if this tool can do it.
Honestly i'm not sure. I was thinking and I've actually never done one since I bought it. It has porsche software. Porsche is similar to vw and audi and its great for those. Im assuming it will but you might be better to call a vendor. Sorry. I wish I had the answer.
Have you ran into any keys you couldn't program?? I can't get a 2007 audi a7 with the RB8 cluster to add a key or adapt a used cluster or ecu. Also couldn't pin pull on a 2001 jeep grand cherokee
Bloody knuckles Automotive have had no issues at all with chrysler. Audi I'm still trying to figure out. They have never been easy for me. I have a hand full of different tools for vw audi and each one seems to only do a few models and years.

Hey Jack I an looking at the Autel ms 906BT as my Launch is up to 18 months behind on the updates and does not have the 2017 vehicles and does not support most of the functions on newer vehicles. Is Autel more up to date? and have more functions? better coverage? I have the Autel TS608 for the TPMS issues and it has the 2017 vehicles. The 2018 vehicles have already been out for 9 months!
I had the maxximus 2.0 which has the launch system and the scanpad 10 and I ditched them both for the autel . Personally I think they are both good tools but autel is better in my opinion. Coverage on newer vehicles seems to come out sooner. Less quirks and more functions. To be fair I haven't had a launch since 2015 but I still have no need to go back. Autel does everything i need and it does it well.
RON COELHO Yes the bt will. It will do park assist on every car. I've petty much done them all. Pre collision and distance sensing cruise also. You need targets for infinity and a few others. It does camera calibrations on infinity. It will not do lane departure on the 2018 Camry or Hondas yet but I'm sure it's coming soon.
I work for a small used lot and am looking at doing keys. We purchased a maxisys elite with the promise of being able to do keys but so far that has been a huge bust. We work with all different makes and models and like to have an extra key for every vehicle that we deal with. Would you recommend the IM100 for this application being that we have the elite to do diagnostics? Thanks
It depends. What keys would you say you do the most. If you watch my other videos I try to tell people the maxisys elite is a waste of money because with the exception of bmw and mercedes online coding the 906bt or ts does the exact same diagnostic/ key progrsmming and coding . The im 100 is a good tool but will still fall short on some vehicles. I program about 70 percent of my keys with the autel 906bt. The im 100 does the same programming key wise except it will pull pin codes. The maxisys will not. Im assuming that's where you're getting stuck? Chrysler ,hyundai and kia? I can point you in the right direction if you give me an idea of what keys you shi the most and what you are getting stuck on.
We do a lot of Nissan and i have finally got the elite to do a couple maxima but it will not do altimas due to pin code. Besides nissan we handle quite a few hyundai, gm, chrysler, and fords. I am not expecting to do everything but would like to do the majority. Nissan alone are costing us a fortune to outsource.
Any luck with this tool doing the smart keys on the newer toyotas/scion/mazdas? Tried my first 2016 scion ia and it wouldn't add a key. Tried through the programming part but can only read out key, not write.
Bloody knuckles Automotive done quite a few of the be Toyota vehicle. Haven't done a scion. I've always had trouble with scion with all the different tools I've used over the years. The process is identical to Toyota but the timer always continues to run. I usually try zbout 10 times before it actually takes. I'll see if I can work with it tomorrow and see what I get.
I was able to get it to add the 2016 scion key by going through Mazda system selection, keyless system (CAN) option. apparently the IA is the same as a mazda 2 out of asia. It wouldn't communicate with the module if I chose the toyota keyless system which is pretty goofy haha.I'm assuming it doesn't work because the Toyota Yaris(same as the scion Ia) immo function on the tool only goes up to 2014. But naturally, The first key I try to program with this tool gives me trouble :)
Bloody knuckles Automotive wow. That's good to know. First scion I ever programmed kept falling because I went through Toyota. I think it was a tc. After a few tries I realized I was in Toyota not scion. Exact same procedure. Counter, process and description were exactly the sane but it failed . Even the key had a Toyota logo on it. There are some quirks to work out no doubt but but I chose autel for a resin reason. Their updates and fixes come often . They work their tools to perfection . 8 months from now it will be a whole different tool.
yeah, there isn't even a scion option under the immo menu. You have to choose toyota. I contacted them through email two days ago and waiting for a response to see if they can update the function.
Bloody knuckles Automotive yea the 905 mini scanner started out without scion immo but it was added soon after and carried over to the 906bt I use today.
Hi Jack, can you program 2015 Mercedes Benz and where to buy a key , he dealer told me that I cannot and they need the car to make a programmed key, is that true?
Jareth Garza I've had great luck with chrysler and this tool. Give me a year and model and I'll throw a video up of it pulling the pin. I have access to just about every type of car.
Jareth Garza I'm not sure. I actually added a key for a family member on an 04 pt couple weeks back with no problems. I don't remember if it displayed the pin or if I used the automated key add . I know only certain pre 06 chryslers had the immo system and this one did for sure. I can test it tomorrow and let you know . I've been able to do every dodge and Chrysler I've been called on with the im100 but I'm not recalling if it actually gives you the pin on the type 2 . I'm sure it does because it will do all keys lost programming but let me make absolutleey sure before I give you the answer.
is this better than the autel 906bt for programming keys? the 906bt will do the same thing this will right? other than tpms, does this do anything better than 906bt?
from everything ive read on it it is basically identical to the 906bt with better key programming software and the 600 is same as 908 with better key programming
Thanks Jack for another great video! I have an Autel906TS, same as yours with TPMS function. I need to program a key for a newer Nissan with the push to start wirrless Intelligent key. I see special functions in the I-key section. Have you ever done those with the Autel? I don't want to lock someone out of their car. Thanks
Jack Meyers yes, one work and key. Just need to make a second. The dealer charges $350 and up so it would be a great benefit to me to do this for a customer at a reduced price
Nissan Mike just go into the intelligent key programming. It will give you some options. Select add key. Most of the time you can add the key without a pin on Nissan if you have a working key. Follow the prompts. It will tell you to insert the smart key into the slot if the car has it if not hold it against the start button. Pretty simple process. If it does ask for the pin you can get the info off the bcm and use a nats calculator. They are all over the internet to download free. If you ever get stuck I can help you but it will not lock someone out of their car as long as you don't go through the erase keys procedure. It would be pretty hard to go all the way through that without knowing. Worst case it won't program without a pin and the original key will always work. I've only locked out one immo ever on a Chrysler town and country and it still ran with the original key. Anything on the autel that may cause the car not to start will warn you multiple times before you follow through with any procedure. Just an fyi the registered owner has the legal right to get the pin from the dealer if you ever need to recover the immo. With the correct pin you can always get back in

Ronald Peters it depends. The autel is great for keys. The auro just adds a little more options especially for certain european cars but the autel will do a lot when it comes to adding keys and remotes. I personally wouldn't jump into buying both. Id start with the autel . See how often you use it for keys and what you can and can't do then decide if it's worth the extra price. 90 percent of the keys i do or get called for are the every day gm ,Chrysler, nissan , toyota and especially honda laser cuts (.they are notorious for breaking in half) . The autel does them all very well. Depending on my work load the harder stuff like mercedes and bmw cas keys i usually way overprice them or turn down the job just because i know i'm going to be there for a couple hours and in that time i can make triple on easy jobs. Sorry for the long response. My point. Stick to the easy everyday cars that you can cut , program and be gone in 30 minutes and the autel will be perfect .
Johnny Ouk I've only used it for 4 days but yes. Quite a bit better. Well not better it just does a lot more on immobilisers . Pull pin codes, guided or automatic programming. Key reading/ writing . It's a pretty good tool I can tell you that. I'm still trying to figure out everything it does but I'm totally impressed so far. Won't do Mercedes but it's awesome for vw, Audi and Chrysler. They are always a pain to make keys for.
Yes, from the looks of it, either autel purchased the company or they are letting them slap the autel name on their tools. Just like drewteq sells their j2534 tools to many companies(snap-on) and then they put their name on the tool and repaint it. The biggest thing I'm interested in is what almost all tools out there DO NOT DO. Is read PIN codes from newer models. Specially dodge, kia/hyundai, GM/Cadillac/Chevy, mitsubishi, etc. There are only 2 tools that do this and they work off "tokens" or pay-per-programming. They work flawlessly. They even do the new dodge/chrysler/jeep, which have the annoying security gateway module. They can bypass it, read PIN and basically program any keys you want. Specially the all lost keys situation. But getting the PIN is key.
I know the otosys was giving free lifetime updates with the purchase last month. Not sure if it's still the same. I'm also not sure who you talked to but it's $395 a year for the autel update on the bt also. Keep in mind the otosys doesn't do very many bidirectional special features liike the autel does. Its a great diagnotic tool but is geared more twords immobilizer work. It doesnt do programming, coding or a lot of special functions/actuations.
Dave MacGyver I will do my best tomorrow. I have a lot so far but didn't want to overwhelm my posts.Anything specific. I have it programming a Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, nissan, chevrolet, vw , Audi, a hyundai and a Ford successfully (Mostly newer models ) so far on video and a couple eeprom reads. Can not get it to properly pin read any 2000 to 2004 vws though . It let me add a remote without pin on a 2002 beetle. I did hear there's an update fix coming. Works great on 2009+ Volkswagen and Audi. Haven't tried the mpu read or dealer key creation yet. Or the bmw .
Richard it totally depends on what you're using it for. If you do more keys the Im if you're doing more coding and diagnostics the maxisys . Although I haven't gotten my hands on the im600 yet but from what I've heard from a few guys that have its pretty close to the elite but with much more powerful immobilizer tools
Can pretty much guarantee this is a review where he got the product for free. The key programmer is pretty much useless other than Chrysler and VW products. Of course this is what he said he used the programmer for. He also said he would answer any questions yah had which doesn't happen. Do yourself a favor, save 3k and buy the CK-100 it does the same cars and the newest version cost me 130 with tax.
