Right?! That’s why this was one of the better episodes of the American version of the show, because he and his wife were very good dog owners. Sure, Shelby had issues with Peanut being super spoiled, but at least she was offended by being told she spoiled him like some have. And Stains was one of the best trained dogs on the show for sure

I have a Border Aussie. two such intelligent and active breeds in one dog makes for a handful. But I love my girl, and she is such a character. she has a similar reaction as stains, but more intense and is in response to both dogs and people. I actually think hers is bordering on aggression, though.

High-energy dogs like Stains can be either very good dogs or very bad dogs, depending on how well you handle their boredom. Give them something to do, and they’ll do it all day for you. Give them nothing to do, and they’ll find an outlet for all their energy and intelligence, not always a good one.

This is so true, I have a overly hyper boston terrier who I assumed had this "puppy energy" but here we are 3 1/2 years later and doctors want to dope her up on trazadone. Instead I walk her twice a day, play fetch with her, and give her tasks everyday and rewards. When we leave shes perfect and sleeps great. Giving her tasks and praise helps so much!!

These are super smart dogs. If you don’t give them a job to do they will make one up. Our late Shepard decided his was to dig out of the yard and herd our elderly neighbors into a tight pack lol. We’d get a call like “hi yes, Tommy has tricked us into a circle again. Can you come get him?” We finally trained it out of him but it was kind of hilarious seeing 4 old people huddled in a circle. How did he get them? Old people in the south like to sit outside on the porch. He would charm the hell out of them or act like there was danger lassie like to lead them all into the road and then do the sheep circling until they were all practically hugging. Lol!

If Stains got 20 minutes of hard running or swimming twice each day he'd be a lot calmer already. The breed is bred to be high energy so they can go all day on a ranch. He needs an outlet. I have the son of a working trial champion. He is as energetic as you'd expect him to be. But he gets energetic frisbee sessions, gets to swim in a nearby pond, gets to take interesting walks in local parks. So when he's home, he's not a tightly wound spring. Without the exercise of body and mind he would be.

Daycare can helps with dogs like this. I couldn’t take my Australian Shepherd for walks because he would growled and lunged at any dogs and people he saw. I took him to dog parks ever since he was a puppy but he became aggressive when he reached maturity. A personal dog behavior trainer told me to try daycare. After 2 months of about 2 times per week daycare, he is super friendly with dogs and humans now. Too friendly, now he wants to play with every dogs he sees. He is a joy to walk and hike with now! @@danielafigueroa528 It's a matter of finding out what really turns him on, what gets his juices flowing. Many dogs love flirt poles, but not all of them. Might he like a ball better, or a frisbee? This kind of reminds me of kids today. They sit in front of the video games and don't learn how to socialize face to face with other kids. It's along the same lines I think. If your child is rude and misbehaves when in social situations, they need clear boundaries and to get out more. It's also worth noting that if the human gets conditioned that the dog is going to do this, the human gets tense... dogs can sense this. It can fuel a dog to be like this. My aussie was very easy to tech fetch... and she loves it.

I found the cause is "the leash", our Aussies have a different temperament on a leash than when off leash (in a dog park with free running dogs). So don't think it's necessarily the dog's energy problem. In a free running dog park, they will interact with the other dogs and even play with them at times. The same behavior differences are apparent with strangers.

Stains is a beautiful looking dog and a very smart dog they have done so well with him with all there training. I wish I could take my dog to Victoria to get some help with a dog that wants to play with everyone he see’s because that’s what my dog wants to do all the time and for a pug he is so strong

I really want an Aussie puppy. Do you have any tips for a puppy in general that might be helpful to a first time puppy owner P.s I’ve had to German Shepard’s

First time puppy owner? Don't get an Aussie! They're smart and athletic, and they need owners who are also smart, athletic and have lots of time to devote to training and keeping them physically and mentally busy. Since most of us don't have access to herds of sheep for our Aussies, think along the lines of activities like agility or flyball after one year of age. If you can do all that, then go for it.

@@RepublicTX also our Aussie does not herd nor does he do agility. We just walk like 6 hours each day and 2 times a week we go to the forest with a throwing arm and a lot of tennisballs and in general just walk. And he will sleep not hard at all

@@romytjuh7106 Yes, they're very smart and easy to train. The average person doesn't understand that over 6 hours a day of walking and playing are a necessity, nor do they intend to get off their butts to do it. Most dog owners I know don't even bother to train much less take their dogs on walks, and then wonder why they have so many behavior issues to deal with. My Aussie loves fetch too!

He brought the slipper. Owner: "I was so impressed that he was able to do that". It tells a story of how the dog is so reactive and he pulls the leash during the walk so hard. They have no idea how to train a dog.

These people do great things. But not everybody has a random dog to use for training. I notice this all the time in these videos.

Lovely looking dog but I can't tell if he's big in build or a bit tubby; Lol they're going to go through slippers very quickly.
