My husband and I was watching Family Fued. The question, what's something about your wife that has changed? He laughed and said her looks. He was drinking. So I listened to his 'honesty'. I died inside. I was already feeling like crap because of the baby weight from just having our daughter. It took 7mths to get back into shape. The marriage ended. His fear is that I'm going to meet someone else. And as of right now, he hasn't faced his fear yet because I haven't introduced them to each other.

@donnakennedy430
@donnakennedy430 Месяц назад
You don't have to have much imagination to realize they were better off being adopted by parents that wanted them then staying with someone that didn't. It's the narrative our culture teaches everyone that makes people frame this as ONLY heartbreaking and life ruining. They were 2. Which means they were in high demand by many people who want children. It was heartbreaking, of course, but it obviously was better for those kids. Those kids weren't 'left alone' they got adopted and were LOVED.

EXACTLY!!! I honestly struggled to find any sympathy for that dude cuz it was completely obvious who deserved to be there and who didn’t. And the fact that he just rolled over and took that “excuse” for his dad not being there so matter-of-factly tells you that that’s clearly just one in a very long list of flimsy excuses that “father” has given him. Let me be clear, I have no hate for this guy and I wish he didn’t have to endure sh*t like that and he’s doing well, but this mom is WONDERFUL (as all moms are) and should not be seen as a runner-up or a consolation prize/seat-filler, she should have been asked FIRST and if that a-hole can’t handle the fact that she was gonna be there, if it were me, I wouldn’t want anything to do with him after that.

Two particular sentences stand out, both from my adoptive mother. The first wasn't meant in a mean way or anything. It was "If you choose to kill yourself we'd be just fine without you." I was 19 and in the midst of the worst of some chronic illnesses that started when I was 15. Was I physically and mentally exhausted? Yes, but suicide never once crossed my mind. She meant it as though she was giving me an out and I didn't have to keep fighting for their sake but something about it really stung. The second was a something she threw at me in an argument last year. It was "Maybe I'd believe you about the sexual abuse if you hadn't lied so much as a kid. Adopting you was probably a mistake." I can't look at her without hearing that in my head. I've been working to distance myself more and more ever since. I just don't need that much toxicity in my life. Just glad my adoptive dad is amazing.

Your dad didn’t mean to victim blame I’ll bet, he likely felt inept and powerless to help and frustrated by his inability to fix your world. My father still does this, I respectfully tell him that his words are thoughtless and hurtful and not what I need at that time. He reflects and back-pedals once I point it out. Try that if you can. When I was 21 and dealing with severe depression (which my family refused to acknowledge) after getting out of an extreamly emotionally abusive relationship. My sister came up to me and told me that I was the cause of all our family's problems, and that I was the most selfish person to ever walk the planet. I acted like it didn't hurt me. For me I had multiple instances but the two that hurt me the most was one time my "best friend" was talking about her birthday party and then turned to me and said, "Sorry but you're not invited, you're just to clingy!" And another time was with my school friends, I went to hang out with them during break and they just ran away from me laughing and whenever I would start to catch up with them they would run even faster to get away from me. Eventualy I would just give up and sit down in a corner trying not to cry, they would always appear a few minutes after I sat down and just laugh and tell me that they were "just playing" and that it was "just some harmless fun!" They only ever did it to me. I know it's not nearly as bad as what other people go through but it really hurt me and caused both my self esteem and my social anxiety to get so bad that every morning before I go to school I feel like I'm going to throw up. I also developed trust issues that make me unable to believe that anyone really cares about me, not even my real friends or family. I constantly feel like I'm going to be abandoned by everyone and left alone.

Oh no, sorry to hear you might have cancer. My mom had cancer as well and my dad was a bastard about it. I’m sure my mom would’ve wished to be alone then have to deal with him as well. I hope it’s not cancer, and if it is, I hope you have a swift recovery. Making decisions for your mental health is better than “not being alone.” If you stayed with him, you probably would’ve been going through Hell right now mentally. I was riding in the backseat with a childhood friend of mine and the woman who had basically raised him was telling him about how awful his birth mom was. This woman was so narcissistic that she legitimately said “Your mother made a lot of mistakes, like having a child, but she also made some good choices, like dating me.” It was dark but my jaw legitimately dropped open. I leaned over and furiously whispered into his ear that he was not a mistake and to never let anyone ever tell him that he was a mistake. Went home and cried for hours.

People who call God’s gift to earth a “mistake” are sadly mistaken. They are confused, broken people who are not happy with themselves and the decisions they made in their past. You never were and never could ever be a mistake, you are MEANT to be here snd have a great purpose in life. Sometimes God uses broken people to bring something of light into the world. Sadly your biological mom was that broken person, but just remember that you are that light. Someday she will see the truth but as of now she is still battling her own demons. She’s in the dark and therefore can’t see the light around her or in the gift she bore. But YOU are a precious being to be cherished. Surround yourself with others who see who you truly are and treat you as such. Life’s too short to focus on anything outside of the greatness that is you. ☺️🙌🏾❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾✨💫🕯

I eventually lost contact with all of them after graduation, they never bothered to text me or wonder how i was doing since then, except for 1. Really nice guy. At one point, I tried to text some of them and it never went anywhere. @@agorapanologia I don't think it's a sexuality thing at all. Just because someone is straight doesn't mean their parents are proud of them. @agorapanologia
@agorapanologia 2 года назад
@@yeemawheaver1387 I never said that straight people couldn't have parental issues. I said that I believe it's more likely that straight cis men would still idolise their fathers, despite being abused, than it would be for a queer man. There is still an avenue for emulation in the shared sexuality and gender expression between a straight son and his father. When the son is LGBTQ, however, that connection is lost. The ability to emulate is weakened because of the diversion in sexual identity. So the abuse takes center stage in their relationship. I'm not saying that there are no queer men who idolise an abusive father, nor I am saying that all straight men do. I just think it would be less likely. But then I also presuppose that the father must be straight and cis too, so there's that.

I was six years old. The pretty girl Janessa-who had clean, new clothes, and everybody liked her-was talking to a group of girls outside on the playground. I was standing just outside their circle, but close enough to hear everything. She said, "Everybody is invited to my birthday party, except Mary." That hurt me to the core. I was just a little kid; I never did anything to hurt anybody. I had no friends, and I could never understand why. Some time later, I found out all the kids in school kept their distance because their parents didn't like my parents. Why their parents thought it was cool to have everyone alienate me, I'll never know.

Aww. Hugs. I experienced something similar! But in high school. For the record, I am neurodivergent and did not grow up knowing this. I was called quirky and eccentric but had no idea what I was doing that was so different to everyone else. I also grew up in a poorer family, and experienced abuse as a child. One day, one of the popular boys in our class was talking about the party he was holding and invited essentially our entire grade 10 Chem class from what I could tell (or this occurred during AP Chem) but he turned to me and said, "not you, though. You are not invited. You're weird." (Something like that. Not verbatim. Paraphrasing.) Now, being on the spectrum I always was very blunt, more so as a teen, but I shrugged at him like 'oh well.' Obviously not upset. He pressed, thinking highly of himself and asked, "don't you get it? I *don't* want you at my party." I responded, completely relieved, "That works out for me because I wasn't planning on going even if you had invited me, so it works out for both of us." The kid looked furious and some of the kids in the class started laighing. I understand now that hewas so spoiled and cocky he could not imagine me being happy because he had given me a reason to stay home but I thought he was spoiled and stuck up anyway and was hoping I wouldn't be expected to turn up. So my relief was genuine and apparently the other kids could tell it was... The rest of the day and even a little afterwards some kids were giving me grins and the atmosphere had shifted. I learned later that he had been nasty to a segment of the school that was not considered "cool." And people saw me as a little cooler, in a way, because I couldn't care less. Later that year, next term, one of the girls who had been nasty to my sister had me in her class. At first, from a distance, she must have mistaken me for my sister (we were twins.) Before home room started she was goading me, mistakenly believing I was my sister who she had bullied. At one point she goes, "Hey, I'm talking to you..." because I flat out continued to read while she was trying to get my attention. I finally put my book down and said, "Excuse me, do I know you?" She clued in and looked confused while her friends seemed thrown and said, "aren't you L?" I told her I was L's sister and I was surprised she was in some of the same AP classes with me because she didn't seem too "on the ball." She started sputtering and her friends just looked at me like they couldn't believe I had just said that. She was a really cruel kid and had been so cruel to my sister that looking back, I am happy it went down that way. I basically just said what a lot of people thought about the bullies but because I was honestly answering them I did not see how I was doing anything wrong or why they should get upset with me for answering them when they had been trying to get my attention in the first place. After that, I was neither popular nor unpopular. Kids mostly left me alone and I spent my breaks reading and talking to my favourite teachers in history club, chess club etc and making a few friends with those who had been bullied by the same kids. It worked out fairly well and because I just did not respond in a way that the bullies were expecting, I started to get a reputation as being difficult to rile up. Or so I have been told since. After that, no one really bothered me because they knew I didn't care what they had to say and that I found them irrelevant to my life. I think my inherent disinterest in associating with them for a variety of reasons hit a nerve (of their own) because they thought I would suck up to them because they were popular. Perhaps it was the first time that some of them met someone who was completely indifferent to them, but after that I was basically invisible to the bullies in that school. 🫂

I told him that and he said "well hopefully you don't do the same thing". I walked away. I got used to walking away from him and his family because they were the toxic ones. It honestly wasn't with the headache. After my baby was born, about 8 weeks, he moved out of our room because he was jealous of his son. That was just fine. I stayed for my boys who loved him but his toxic behavior ruined their love for him. After a month of passive aggressive behaviour, on his part, my boys made it clear that they were not happy. So, once we finished our family meeting, we moved out that day. Best decision.

That dude was HURT that the doctor thought that he would care more about not having sex for a few weeks than his wife's well being and health. He is HURT that, just by being a man, he has to live with the stereotype that all men are monsters and don't care about women, and that he would disregard his wife's safety just to please himself. He started getting violent and I decided to finally stand up for myself, which took everything in me, and I told him that if he hits me again that I would call the cops on him. He said to me that he would “get to me before the cops would.” 😳 I never called but I finally was able to fully escape him when he got thrown in jail for drug related stupidity and now I am free.

*I found myself falling for one of my good friends more and more each day. We were counselors together one summer and we'd grown really close. One day he sat with me, bought me dinner, and asked me to help him choose between 2 of our friends that were also counselors. I asked why he was asking me and he said "Your opinion means everything to me. You mean so much to me and I know you wouldn't lie." So I didn't lie I said "You don't need me to tell you. In your heart, you already know the answer." So I watched him walk over to the girl and kiss her. I lied to him that day by not telling him I was in love with him. I unintentionally helped them get together and now they're going on 5 years together. I'm not friends with either anymore. It broke my heart whenever I saw them together.*

When I was about 10, I was friends with two sisters, one a year younger and one a year older than me. Our families went on vacation to the same place and we had a great time. Sometime later, the older sister, who was very pretty and confident, who I looked up to but knew I could never be like, told me she had been inside the lodge one day and looked out to see me standing alone on the sidewalk outside. She said that as I turned around to look back over my shoulder, I looked "almost pretty." The crazy thing is that she meant it as a compliment. It crushed me but I never told her. I knew I never could be "pretty" and I tried not to let it bother me, but when someone you consider beautiful evaluates your looks and then actually tells you what they think, it really hurts.

When I was about 8, the woman that adopted me told me (while I was having a tantrum over something little) that she only adopted me because she fell in love with my little sister who was young enough to be raised as her own and social services refused to split us up. I wasn't even allowed to eat in the same room as them and they wouldn't let me alone with my sister in case I told her we were adopted, they told her that I wasn't allowed alone with her because I would hurt her. I moved out at 13 and me and my sister haven't had a relationship since (but I don't blame her).

So I've always struggled with body dysmorphia for as long as I can remember. And it's made even worse when my family is constantly hounding me about every little thing I put in my mouth. Every time I get food for myself, their eyes immediately dart towards my plate and I can just tell by the looks on their faces that they are judging every single thing on it and it's made me afraid to eat in front of people. Well after venting to several friends about this problem, they all told me I should attempt to talk things over with my mother. Because she, meaning as well as she does, is one of the worst offenders. So one day we are in the car, and I finally decide to bring it up. I tell her how the things that everyone says affects me and how hurtful it is and how for a long time now, it's been having me toddle on the borderline of having an eating disorder. Without skipping a beat or a moment of hesitation, she looks at me and says "Nah, that's never going to happen. You love food too damn much". I just kind of went silent after that. I still think about that comment to this day and it still hurts.

My bf for two years told me around my graduation day that he didn't feel the same anymore, he specifically stated that he "still love and care" about me but more like a family way, and that he was "starting to be attracted to another woman" (which is bs). He said has been feeling that way for the past three months, and that made me realize for all those time every day when he said he loved me it was a lie. I couldn't even cry at first, I remember that I told him that if he wanted a breakup just say it I'll just get along with it. So we broke up a few days before my graduation day all bc he didn't want to mess me up while I was writing my thesis (which is absurd bc I ended up wanting to forget that graduation day). He still had the audacity to tell me he wanted to stay friends, which I calmly refused. And on the same graduation day one of my closest friends told me that she never really liked me, she wanted to stop being my friend a lot of the times, but didn't bc I kept being nice to her, buying her fancy gifts, treating her food every now and then, etc2. I stopped being too nice since. I took two years moving to another country leaving my family and friends behind to live alone and doing some self introspection. I avoided close relationship with everyone and stay at home most of the time trying to forget everything.

Ok, so whatever I'm writing is just a rant and don't take it seriously because you're’ the only one who can say how you're feeling. But I feel like you're experience is something that didn't *break* you because it was something you could change. Did you need to ? I don't know, probably not. Are you proud of yourself ? I sure hope you are. It' amazing. Although, as I said I think that's a little different. I mean could you compare this to someone whose parents told them they were a mistake. Or in my case for example: My parents abudsed me ( physically and psychologically ) all my life then called me a liar when i developed an anxiety disorder and a ( still undiagnosed ) depression. The abuse isn't over yet and i'm stuck at home in a pretty messed up country. And when i say messed up i mean it. Lots of case of rape no one talks about, frequent electricity, gas and water cuts, corrupt politician that led the society to be poor, messed up school system that is always on strike because the teachers work more than most and get payed peanuts, so they have to do multiple jobs at the same time, also there is the rampant religious fanatism and criminalisation of lgbtqia+ ( some get killed by their families and the police doesn't do sh*t. Fucking murder is somehow circumstantially legal! It fu**ing scares me). Not saying you were not hurt or depressed after that but i feel like it's a different maybe less potent kind of hurt. Am i making sense ? Anyway, have a nice week. I hope your having a good time. We're all living while having to deal with some whacky level of dread right now

It was the hardest thing I had ever done to date, I cried driving the whole way. One of my daughters was 8 and though I brought them out to me, remarried and raised the kids when their bio dad abandoned them completely. I shared how deeply that hurt me with my kids. My daughter at 17 decided to tell her step grandmother untrue things in order to get attention and a car etc, and abandoned the rest of our family, then said to me when I tried to understand why “well, you abandoned me before so why not again?” The trouble was, I never wanted her to leave, and she knew that would be the best way to wound me. God, mine was said by my little brother. I had to leave home at 15 because of a multitude of reasons, but mostly because of my mother's drug use and the problems it caused (parentification, etc). My brothers (twins) were 7 when I left home, and unfortunately I wasn't able to get them out of that situation. It was the hardest part of the entire thing, because at that point, they felt like my own children more than my brothers. Anyway, I went from seeing them every day to only seeing them at school (it was a K-12 school) and I made a point to always have breakfast with them. At one of these breakfasts, my brother asks me: "Why don't you ever come home? It wasn't nice to just leave" and my heart... broke. Obviously, I couldn't explain everything and it hurt me so much that they saw me as a bad person when I was just trying to get out of a bad situation. I love them with all my heart, and it's something I think about every day (I'm turning 20 at the end of the month).

I have two HAHA. One was when I was telling my mom I couldn't go to the path they want me to go to (religion wise because I'm agnostic) and she said, “You will be alone. We won't be here for you.” The second was when I was having a break down and was venting to someone important to me. He said, “You always have problems and need me every four seconds.” I was and still am depressed and have anxiety, he knew that. I never asked for his time that much at all but ever since then I never spoke about my problems to anyone again, just keep it to myself in fear. It's still a lot for me. No one really knows how much words can deeply affect someone's view in life, either positively or negatively. [Edit: I remember one more. I was going out from my front door when the neighbor looked at me and said, “You know what you lack? You're fat. You weren't fat before. You'd be pretty if only you're not fat.” Lol.]

Last month I had enought, and decided, if they were not going to do anything to help him I Will. So I convinced him to start therapy. It hasn't been long since the changes started. A few days ago he told me "It's thanks to You that I'm still alive" I told him not to said that and he said "You saved my life more times that You could ever known" I know he meaned as a good thing, but that broke me, How many times has he needed my help and I couldn't see It?

When my dad left never contacted me even though I was a literal child after 6 years of no contact I spilled my heart to him and all he said was that he was disappointed in me. Keep in mind he kept in contact with all of my other siblings. The effect it had on me as a child is one of the only reasons I am constantly going in and out of states of depression and suicidal thoughts. 12 year old me did not deserve that. At all

Hi. Sometimes you have to love you even if the important people in your life don't. Sometimes parents have favorites. So what they cannot give you, you have to give yourself. You will be alright. And God loves you always.

I'm old enough to know that we all face our own set of issues and no one walks around unphased from whatever life has been thrown their way...BUTTTT watching this and videos like it makes me realize that us as a human race, we are horrible to one another and that age old saying "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" is complete BS! To those in the video, those whose videos didn't make this cut, those in the comment section sharing their own stories, those who watched but haven't shared their stories - please know that we all feel your pain. Even the abuser feels it regardless of whether they show it whether its after self reflection or through karma. Just know you are a somebody, you are special, and you're a thousand times better than the situation you are in and the person/people who said those hurtful things or acted in those disgusted ways! And regardless of how emotional you may have been, know that you deserve better AND that there is better out there for you! ❤

For me it was probably in the summer before my friends and I left for college. I go to college on the opposite side of the US as the place I lived and where all my friends still are, and I was super nervous. I’ve always been terrified of losing my friends after highschool and the added fear of going so far and not knowing anyone made it worse. So my friend and I were talking to some people online, just things about college coming up and how we were gonna miss each other and stuff, and at some point I say something along the lines of “please don’t stop talking to me while I’m over there,” and she responded with “are you kidding? If we ever stop talking it would be your fault for going so far away.” I knew logically that she was joking, but I’d already spent the previous six years of my life afraid of losing my friends and that comment just broke me a bit. I had a bit of a panic attack for a couple minutes before I actually went and told her about how much it hurt while still trying to calm down. She told me she understood and, like I thought, that she was joking, but she was glad I told her anyway. That’s about it for the sentence, but after that was kind of related. Cut to a couple months later where I texted her from college across the country several times about random things, some a bit personal, and she ignores several messages in a row for several days. Again, shouldn’t have been a big deal but I couldn’t stop stressing about if I’d done something wrong and I was already losing her. She only responded after I confided in another friend about my fears and, mysteriously, several of my friends started to contact me more.

I had been bullied a lot since first grade , and by the time I was in grade four I had told my parents and they had talked to the teacher who had said I had never told her that was happening ( I had but she never really did anything , cause the main male bully was her nephew ) . So last time I had told my parents they got upset , shouted at the teacher , who had in turn shouted at me when they were gone for not telling her . So next time her nephew was bullying me , I went to tell her , and ahe said " if you want to be a news reporter you should go and work for ZNBC ( which is our national news media )" ... I still have a lot of trauma caused by that woman from the four years she was my class teacher... I'm still kind of scared of her to be honest , meeting her takes me back to the person I was then , but whenever I meet her I'm all smiles .

Oh my goodness! Who you are as a person/your character should be a huge part of attraction. Physical beauty will fade away. Run from those folks who say that crap to you. You have dignity. You are made in God's image. That is beyond superficial to only be attracted to white girls. Beautiful inside beats anything else. Peace to you and know you are so valued and loved. If they don't see that, run! My ex told me mean things trying to bring me down, but Jesus told me the truth about who I am and my worth.

When I tried to help my grandmother and my parents with some issues they're having and I told my grandma that it would be good for them to go to therapy, because I've gone to therapy myself for a very deep depression and I could see the improvement... and she smirked and me and said "why would I go? You went there for years and you're still crazy". I didn't say anything on the spot... but once I left I refused to talk to her for months. That was just plain cruel, and to this day she doesn't even acknowledge that she said anything wrong. But at least I learnt that some people cannot be helped.

The cruelest thing that still stings every time I remember it is one of my POS acquaintances that have convinced my “best friend” to three-way me on the phone to sarcastically tell me that “she was sorry for saying no one cares about you or your feelings “ right in the middle of me being bullied and constantly harassed at school.
