The second woman's story confirms something I was told some time back. Rape/sexual violence is never about sex. It's about power, the man exerting power over a woman by forcefully taking something precious to her. The minute you, as the lady, start acting like you're into it, you immediately take that power away from him and he loses interest. He now can't achieve what he wanted, which was to get power over you and humiliate you. I'm so glad she made it home okay.

I'll make one too on tiktok. I was in grade 5, it was nighttime, mom drove up to the daycare beside a busy 4 way to pick up my siblings. She parked, and went inside while I waited in our suv. There was a traffic jam on my left and the daycare entrance on my right. Just then, a large man got out of his old car in the middle of the jam with a fire extinguisher and started repeatedly hitting the car window. Idk how, but the windows didn't break. I started bawling out of fright. But then he left back to his car, the 4 way still jammed. Thought it was over. No. He came back with a giant boulder, and just before he made it to the leftside of my car. I unlocked and slid open the door, then locked it, and slid it closed...THEN BOLTED to the right, to daycare entrance and found my mom! When we came back outside to check... he was gone. A month ish later our suv got stolen. I'm just thankful to God none of us were inside. Idk how I survived any of it.

DO NOT PUT ADDRESSES, PHONE NUMBERS, OR NAMES ON DOG TAGS! These are often used for things like this! Get your animal microchipped and put "microchipped" or "ask a vet to call my owner" or something like that on the tag. Also, do NOT put kid's names on the outsides of backpacks! They're cute, but can give a stranger all the info they need to gain a kid's trust.
@fbbWaddell
@fbbWaddell 2 года назад
You do want to put either your dog's name or your phone number on their collar. I have worked in dog boarding and sometimes there are 10 chocolate labs in the play yard and the only way we can tell them apart is by their collar. I can understand not wanting to put your name, your address, or your dog's whole name on the collar, but dog daycare workers need something to work with and so do vet tech's, dog groomers, and dog trainers. Having your phone number on the collar is also a quick and easy way for a well-meaning good samaritan to quickly return your dog before a not-so-well-meaning person tries to take your dog and sell it. Yes, microchips are great, but if a smart person takes your dog to a vet out of town to get it taken care of, no one is gonna be any the wiser if they claim they own the dog. Also, you should have already discussed a safe word with your child.

After hearing the first story, no lie, I ran to my dog's closet to inspect his dog tag. In NYC dog tags are official licenses, so they have a number that serves as an ID. On the back, people are instructed to call 311 and give the number and then the authorities would contact me directly. I don't know if all major cities do this, but I think NYC's method is effective but also safe for a female dog owner.

@Lea Also, if someone who was following you saw that you were with a trusted buddy or whatever, they will most likely back off because they will think you’re not alone. That’s why you see a lot of domestic abused victims use codes when calling the police or asking for help from strangers.

When I was in elementary school, I played outside with my friends all the time. My mom had set rules for all of us. If there's a car, yell "car!" and get on the sidewalk. If you see the same car drive by three times, everyone get inside immediately and lock the doors. So, one day I was walking home from school with two friends and we see this old pickup drive by twice. On the third time, he slowed down and smiled at us. We immediately started running home as fast as we could and took a short cut. The next day, we saw him again and ran home again. We took the bus after that.

While driving back to NJ on the highway a very creepy man was making sure he was in the lane next to me. He was probably mid 50’s. I changed lanes trying to speed up and was swerving in front of cars trying to lose Him. Couldn’t lose Him. I knew that once I crossed the bridge from PA to NJ I would be stuck on a two lane road with lots of traffic lights. While driving on the highway I dangerous leaned over to lock my passenger door. I call my Dad panicking and he tells me to NOT drive home but to park at the 711 , 5 minutes from my house. My Dad got my brothers on the phone and told them to meet me and him there immediately. I’m praying the whole time I’m driving and trying to calm my self down and trying to assure myself the man won’t pull into the 711. I pull into the 711, I see my Dad and my brothers standing there waiting for me. As soon as I park, the guy who was following me parks right next to me. I was traveling by myself in Belgrade in 1990, I was 17. Got stalked by an older guy at the train station, complementing me how beautiful I was, asking me all kinds questions. I was very naive and was answering most of them, but something in my gut was telling that he was bad news... he bought my lunch and stuck by my side for about an hour, followed me everywhere. Started offering me a job in a restaurant-“ you can make a lot of money as a waitress, my brother owns a bar in Germany” I knew I had get away from him ... I told that I had to use a restroom, public place, many people- he could follow me inside....then I sat there for awhile until few older women arrive, all dressed in hijab- I asked for help and they helped me- covered me with their scarves and almost on my knees I crawled under their skirts. These women sat with me and covered me until train arrived. I would have been next episode “Taken”, if they haven’t helped me... until this day I get shivers when I think about it.

My sister and I were coming home from the drive-in movies one night just after midnight and we have to go through a really shady part of town on the way and we passed a young girl walking by herself down the road. She was dressed like she had been out at a party or something. I didn’t feel right about leaving her walking around in the dark in this part of town on her own, so I pulled over a little ahead of her and stuck my head out the window. I could tell she was freaked out that a car had stopped - so I quickly said “hi - I know this is weird - but this is not a safe part of town and we don’t feel comfortable leaving you walking around out here by yourself. It’s just me and my sister in the car. We girls we just want to help keep you safe - Can we please give you a ride somewhere?” She got in the car and burst into tears. She had been left at a party by her so called “friends” and a some guy had been hitting on her all night, being a creep, trying to force himself on her and not leaving her alone so she pretended to go to the bathroom and instead ran away! I am glad we were able to help her get home safe that night and I really hope that she got some better friends.

It was not something very dangerous, but when I was going home, after school, I decided to buy avocados (idk why, I just wanted to eat them). So, unlike I do every other day, I went out of my way to buy those avocados and then I went back to my way home. When I was at the entrance of my street (we have a gate in there, so just who lives in the street can enter) a car stopped there and a guy asked me to open the gate, because he was a cop and the last house of the street was been robbed. I had no idea who he was, he wasn't wearing a cop uniform and I was in doupt if should or not open it. I ended up opening and he went as fast as he could to the end of the street. That was when I realized my house was the last house of the street. I started to cry while walking home and when I stopped in front of my house I saw that cop chasing 2 guys that were running away from my house. If I hadn't bought the avocados I should be inside the house when they broke in and if hadn't openned the gate for that guy I should enter the house while they were still inside.

Learn to make a safe fist and throw a safe punch instead, and remember that if someone is trying to force you into your car to drive them somewhere, you have the option to throw the keys away. Then they have to choose between pursuing you and pursuing the keys, and it can buy you time to run.

I was waking through my neighborhood and could see a shirtless man who was talking to himself and just walking like he was about to charge at me. Keep in mind I’m 5’2 and not physically intimidating at all. Plus it was Saturday night, I was coming back from the fair and dressed in a cute sweater dress. So I felt pretty vulnerable when seeing this dude. He seemed extremely agitated and I have already seen homeless people in around town attack people before. So before he comes any closer to me I position my back against a brick wall gate to my neighbor’s yard. Keep in mind I’m walking through my neighborhood back home from getting off the light rail. Well the neighbors house I was passing by was a dick and had two giant, aggressive dogs, one pit bull and one German Shepard, both of which were chained up in front of the yard and if they ever heard a sound they would charge at the gate but their chain was just short enough it barely reached the side of the gate. So while the angry man continued to come closer to me I placed my back to the gate and waited as quiet as I possibly could. The man was stomping towards me and then just as he came close to me the dogs in the yard charge the gate snarling and barking their heads off. The man actually screamed back and stumbled off. I quickly walked back home but damn thank goodness I moved because that neighborhood was full of drug addicts.

About 2 years ago, I went to a grocery shop and as I walked into the store I saw these 2 men standing next to each other near the entrance, 1 white, 1 black. I made eye contact with the black man but continued walking and proceeded to do my shopping. Not long after, I left the store to go to another store nearby which was about a 5-minutes walk. After walking about a minute I casually turned around because my mum would always tell me to regulate turn around when I am by myself. When I turned around I saw that the black man I had seen at the other store was also walking behind about 20 steps behind. I wanted to assume he just happened to be walking the same way as me but I got a weird vibe from the guy. When I turned around again and I noticed that he was still walking behind me he gave me a creepy smile that sent shivers down my spine. Out of ran all the way to the other store without looking back. After I arrived at the entrance of the store I turned around and realised he wasn't behind me anymore. I finally felt a sense of relief and tried to do the rest of my shopping without thinking too much but it. After a minute been in the storerealised the same guy that came into the store and we were opposite ends of the store. What have I took him I would always find him staring at me and he would give me an eerie smile when he knew I was staring at him. What make things worse was that he was also with the white guy I saw earlier. Whenever and moves around the I would find him and his friend slowly walking towards where I was. Although the store was full of people, it felt like I was in there alone and we were playing a game of cat and mouse. I called my sister telling her what was happening while still trying to avoid them. She told me get out of there and come home. I immediately left the store and ran all the way home. That was the first time in my life I had felt really scared. I'm a girl by the way and at the time this happened I was around 14/15 years old and it was early afternoon. I won't necessarily call my actions quick thinking but if I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings, who's know what could have happened. I definitely don't want to find out. For about half a year after that, apart from school my mum wouldn't let me go anywhere alone.

Right, so, this happened to one of my friends, and he's a boy ( I'm a girl) so when he was 6, he was in India, at a shop, with his parents, his parents were in the shop, while he and his younger brother (who was 4) were outside. My friend, luckily had a phone, because his grandfather always gave him one, just incase, but his younger brother was using it though. That was when he realised a guy was staring at him, and he felt uneasy. He couldn't go into the shop, because the shop was too big, and there were a lot of people and he could get easily lost, so instead, he walked around, with his brother. His brother, the god, picked up on what was happening, and went with it. That was when my friend whispered to his brother, and he went round a path he knew, and the guy was following him, so he started running. My friend went back to the shop, where everything started, and the guy followed, and when he looked forward he saw the police, with his brother there with him. The guy got arrested and my friend found out that he was apparently a person who kidnapped young children like him.

My good friend and I were walking around with a group on Halloween one year in a college town. We saw a girl who was very obviously drunk walking by herself down the sidewalk, and we became very concerned. It was about midnight at this point and even though there were a lot of people this was an old city with all kinds of narrow alleys and shadowy nooks. We stopped her and asked if she needed an Uber. Turns out she was just around the corner from where she lived, but we walked her to her door anyway to make sure she stayed safe. There was a girl about a month before then who got snatched when she was walking around by herself. They found her alive... I’m honestly the sober friend because I can’t have much alcohol for medical reasons, and I’ve always made a point of keeping an eye out for other women when I’m out. I carry a knife in my bag and if I need to I know how to use it effectively. I’d prefer to avoid that, but I’m not afraid to defend myself or someone else.

You should probably test it (WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR FOR YOUR EYES, NOSE AND MOUTH) if it's 6 years old especially. It might be time to replace the cartridge. I've had bad luck (testing and finding it doesn't work, thank FUCK never in a situation where I needed it) with the pink ones I've had, too, even new. Always the pink ones. Testing it isn't difficult, but it's a good idea to just get a second one anyway. I carry an EpiPen in every bag I have, mace the same. I also have a concealed carry license but my .380 needs a new magazine. Having a gun will make you feel safe too, but if you don't practice with it and feel confident and skilled with using it, there's a chance it can be taken from and used on you. Not that that's relevant to anything you said, just stream of consciousness. Come to think of it I have mace that I should test too, it's at least three years old.

The thing with sprays. Hope you would never have to use it but in case you do: make sure you extend your arm fully and run into the opposite direction. Because it is absolutely easy for the spray to get into your face and to screw you. Even the smallest of breeze will get it in your face. So be super careful using it. And also you mentioned you have it for 6 years, maybe you should look into the exp. date of the product. The ingredient that is in there that actually is the thing that harm you and make you react has a very long potency. But sometimes the way sprays are made (in technical aspect) you might want to test it after so many years if it hasn't lost the ability to actually spray efficiently. And again, I hope you will never have to use it.

It's good to be prepared! Do be careful though, pepper sprays don't completely stop attackers, they only give you the likely chance the break free (this is doubly true for tasers that don't incapacitate-the ones you can buy). So once you use the pepper spray (you should already be turning away to avoid hurting yourself, be careful of wind) you should immediately be ready to twist your other arm outward if they're holding it and run. Sprays buy seconds, not safety.

unfortunately living in the area in which I grew up, I have always been paranoid and weary due to the gangs in the area, and this is not the only story but this one I clearly remember the feeling like it happened yesterday. I was walking home from soccer practice late one day after school (after 7pm) . So I had my gym bag, my backpack, some textbooks in my hand, and my cleats and running shoes hanging off my arm, I didn't live far from my highschool and I had already made it halfway home. I had just passed the last major street, from here on forth it would be a few blocks of residential streets before I would turn on my block. Well the next 2 blocks are pretty dark due to the trees on the side walk, and I did immediately register that someone was behind me cuz I heard their footsteps but I could also tell they were pretty far back from me. Well that distance quickly changed within the next block and a half. I remember the hairs of my back standing straight, a chill going through my body, and my mind sort of immediately focused on the sound behind me, I turned my head slightly and I was right the guy was maybe 15 to 20 feet behind me keeping pace. Immediately I picked up the pace a bit, and adjusted everything I was carrying so that at moments notice I could drop it all and bolt. Just as I looked down to also reach for my little prepaid phone, I had just passed a street light so the shadows were illuminated in front of me, the terrifying part was I was not the only shadow in front of me. My brain registered everything so fast, 1. the guy was close enough to be casting a shadow by the same light, 2. There was something in his hand (the shadow made it look like a stick) 3. I'm going to raped, the next second I heard a noise across the street, (there is a small private little elementary school, in which I'm guessing based of the times I passed by that it was meant for people who worked late and had enough money to have their kid taught and entertained until they were able to be picked up.) There was the couple who were picking up their little girl, without thinking I ran across the street, almost got run over by a car that had just turned the corner, I ran up behind them, I remember they looked startled and a little overprotective of their kid, understandable, they were walking towards the direction that I needed to go, so I followed. But here is the scary part when I looked back, the guy that had been following me, stood at the corner across the street, he had a cap on, dark clothes, and what had looked like a stick was a knife he was now tryin to conceal. I know that I couldn't see in the greatest detail his face, but I could tell in his body, fist, and what I could make out of the face was that he was pissed. After a second of staring at me, he turned at the corner. I kept my eyes on him until he was out of sight. I had 1 more block to go but I also realized that on that block there is an alley that gets very dark, and next to it is an unoccupied house. If I had not been paying attention or trusted my instincts I realize it would have been so easy to shove my tiny frame into the alley, put a knife to my throat so I'd comply or something. I am so lucky, cuz I'm sure I wouldn't have just been raped but most likely killed. I now don't go near any vehicle with no windows, no trees that are thick enough that someone can hide behind, I stay away from alley entrances or any buildings that just look sketchy.

I was about 11 years old, playing in the street with my sister and my friends, and I found an empty (probably thrown away,) wallet outside the front gate of this house that was maybe a dozen doors down from where I lived. I decided to knock on the door to see if anyone had lost it. We knew quite a few other families in the street, and I was expecting this woman I had seen before to answer, but instead, this large, white haired man came out in a bathrobe. I asked him if the wallet was his. He didn't answer. After a few seconds of staring at me and stammering about something random, he asked where I lived. I *immediately* thought, "Fuck no, I don't want to talk to this guy anymore," pretended I was going to keep going up the street looking for the wallet's owner, and took off with my friends on my bike. A little while later, we're all sitting on the wall in front of my house, and the guy walks out to his front gate and starts waving, trying to get our attention. I told my friends to ignore him, and called my mum outside. As soon as she appeared, the guy went back inside his house.

I was walking to meet friends one night. I was living in a rural area at the time. Read: no street lights. There was however, moonlight. So I'm walking and I think I hear footsteps behind me. But I don't wanna look behind me and advertise my fear. I start walking faster and the footsteps do too. I slow down but they don't. There was a blind turn coming up. There was a store that was basically in the middle of the path. B4 u turn a corner, u can't c what's on the other side. After u turn the corner, u can't c behind u. The real problem is that the area is completely vacant at night. 2 schools, 4 churches, 2 clinics, 3 sports fields, the community hall and that shop. Read: perfect place 2 drag me into a dark corner and not a soul around 2 hear me scream. My plan: make it to the corner as casually as possible and then run 4 your life. By the time he turns that corner n thinks to chase me, I'll be far away. Slight hitch: I'm wearing push-in sandals. There's no running in those mother fucking shoes and all the roads are gravel. I turn the corner, kick off and pick up the shoes and I run, flat out, no looking back. When I reach the 1st occupied house I got into that yard and banged on the door. When the guy who lives there opened the door I stepped inside and looked behind me 4 the 1st time. And there was a man who was just slowing to a stop. All I could clearly see in the moonlight was his white shirt. There was only 1 path thru, no1 had come from in front of me and any1 from behind shud have been far behind me. I've never doubted my instincts since

The dog one was amazing and if you have a big dog that you want to be dog-sat then teach them to defend, that dog saved her life. Train them well and make sure that they know their commands such as when to stop because even though most dogs will naturally defend you, you need to be prepared

I went on a walk one day in my neighborhood, and I was walking down a long sidewalk and I passed a little trail that lead to some houses behind some trees, I walk past in and when I cross the street I feel my senses heightened and I turn around to see a tall white man in all cameo as if he was just out hunting in the woods, it’s sunny out and there’s no reason for him to be in all that, I keep walking thinking he’s going to get the recycling bins but when I turn back as I got closer to my ex’s house and I see the man with his head down and walking faster so I immediately make a sharp right turn and walk down a trail and go through another part of my neighborhood and circled around and went straight to my ex’s place and luckily her grandma was home and she let me in This happened two more times and each time I went to my ex’s house, along with a creepy van that always drives around when I walk and the issue is that my neighborhood is crawling with registered sex offenders and that guy towers over me and me being a small black girl didn’t help

You know this reminds me of one time I was walking on the streets with my younger sister, and we noticed this dude in black just following us very quietly. He very I unnoticeably rounded us into a very quiet street to a dark dark alley. And I very weirdly laugh hysterically, and like a sociopath when I am stressed. As I started to laugh, with a weird grin on my face, the guy ran away as fast as you could say monchichi. 😂

Something similar happened to me. Me and my cousin were about 15 at the time and we were going on a car trip with our grandma, stopping by many towns and villages. During our whole trip, me and my cousin felt uncomfortable because we noticed EVERYONE, from creepy old men, to teenagers and even little kids were constantly staring at us. Anyway, by the time we arrived to this touristy city that was super close to the ocean, we were already fed up with this behavior. Grandma had something to do elsewhere so we set off to go to the beach by ourselves because we were not leaving without seeing the ocean, there was a lot of people around and it was broad daylight. While walking by a sidewalk (the ocean was super close and in view by this point), we noticed that a white car had already passed twice besides us, staring. Fed up, my cousin said "if they pass us a third time, I'll give them the finger"; well, they did, my cousin showed them the middle finger, they stopped and they started to go in reverse. There were I think like 3 guys in the car, now driving besides us, and screaming "hey!" multiple times. While they are screaming, my cousin is visible scared and not moving; I, on the other hand, start laughing my ass off. They kept screaming, slightly bewildered, so we would interact with them but I just laughed louder. I laughed for so long that the dudes screaming got frustrated and sped off. My cousin scolded me, she was like "I was here ready to kick balls and you just stood there laughing". I apologized, I don't know what got into me, I guess I just found it funny she actually flipped her finger at them, but now that I'm older, I definitively think that we avoided something much more serious. Definitively don't recommend mocking creepy dudes or flipping fingers at them, we were lucky that nothing happened to us; ideally, don't engage and get somewhere safe but as you said, acting crazy oftentimes helps.

Sad part is that, um, I’m 12. I’m Afab. I’m watching these to try to pick up some things that could be life saving for me or my friends. My dad is a sexual assault survivor, (it can happen to either sex but women are more often preyed on,) and since he has that trauma he’s always been up front to me about what to look for, but some things you just kinda have to get from people who are Afab too, and have had scary experiences. So far I’ve gotten Talk to a stranger like you know them, they can only do something when people can’t team up on them Don’t go walking at night alone, Learn some self-defense, Remember faces, so if worst comes to worst you can help catch the guy so he doesn’t do that bullshit again, (if your not dead) Let people you trust keep your location, family members (duh) Carry around stuff for self defense, Always have your phone, (again, duh, but you could just pull a hero killer and send your location with no context to someone you trust, lol) Stay safe, guys. (In case you don’t know Afab means Assigned Female At Birth)

I don't know if you know about these already but I'd like to add a couple things here: 1. Walking up to someone while pretending to know them can also happen the other way around; which means someone walks up to you and starts talking to you like they know you. In this situation try and offer help while playing along with them but stay alert none the less. The reason for this is that sometimes, sex traffickers use women or even children to lure you to them. Don't let them lead you somewhere private, always stay in public areas (this is also good if the other person was really searching for help because the more people around you the fewer the chances of their "follower" trying to get to them). Something you could do in this situation is get them somewhere public and wait with them until someone they know picks them up. If that's not an option, go to a store and ask the employees for help or, in case their "follower" doesn't leave/stays nearby, call the police. 2. Combine the self defence with the stuff you carry around for self defence. Practice on how to use everything. If it's pepper spray or a taser you're carrying with you, make sure they work! If it's a knife or a gun you're carrying with you, please, for your own safety, know how to use them correctly. If you don't, they might be taken away from you and might be used to hurt you. 3. If someone has you under their control (for example if they use a weapon) and they tell you to get in a car, do whatever you can not to get into the car. Once you're in there, they will take you to a place where no-one will be able to help you, especially if they want to kill you. If you worry that they might shoot/stab you, still take that chance. If they want to move you to another location, that means the one you're in right now is not quiet enough for them to hurt you badly. If they have a gun and you manage to run away from them, don't run in a straight line but instead run in an unpredictable zick-zack pattern. That way the chances of them actually hitting you when trying to shoot you are way lower, especially the chances of them hitting one of your vital organs. 4. If you run away from somebody and can't calm down enough to pretend to know somebody, you shout for help. However, especially in an alley with no-one on the streets, people don't pay much attention to this. In such a situation, instead of shouting "HELP" scream "FIRE" as people tend to pay more attention to that. 5. This probably isn't relevant to you yet if you can't drive a car but still keep it in mind in case you might need it someday. Always be aware of your surroundings and practice ways to get into your car without having to use the door on the drivers side. Some creeps hide under the car and wait for you to get close enough so they can slash your ankles. 6. This goes hand in hand with the self defence: Don't listen to what others say about how you should fight respectfully. We fight dirty in this house! Gouge them in the eyes! Always remember: If they can't SEE they can't fight, if they can't BREATHE they can't fight, if they can't WALK they can't fight! Always be prepared to fight like your life is on the line because it might as well be!! I hope this helps a bit and I hope you don't have to use any of these tips. Stay safe out there!

All these ways are very good for getting out of such situations and they are very helpful, so thankyou for sharing it. But I'll like to add something which my mom has always told me. She said that girls always have this one advantage- (don't get scared) just hit him in the "main part" as hard as you can. If he is strong so it would be really hard for me to stop him by holding his arms or trying to fight. So we should always attack his weakest spot! I hope we don't have to go through this ever🤞🏻

Driving through Phoenix in a beat up 1994 Toyota Corolla, this Honda Civic pulls up next to me. I don't even own a phone at this point, even though it's like 2008. Was more concerned with keeping food on the table. These 2 guys smirk at me, and I can tell they're being scary at best, sinister at worst. The light is about to turn green and we're both at the front. I floor it the second I can. Mind you, their car is significantly faster than mine, but we were at the cusp of the beginning of rush hour, and I have good reflexes. So I'm weaving and weaving, staying a few cars ahead of them. Luckily, it's an older part of Phoenix/Glendale, and there are only two lanes, which makes it harder for them to squeeze behind me if I cut each lane change close. I see my street approaching. I don't take the turn. It's too quiet there and I know they'll catch me and I don't want to lead them to my house. My beat up car was very recognizable. I keep swerving, hoping to either get away or get a cop's attention. I pass my street and continue for 3 miles with them 2-5 cars behind me at each half mile light. I go to the left lane, letting them get really close on a clearing, then swerve the wheel as hard as I can to make an abrupt and illegal right turn. Because we were going pretty fast and I let them get close, I knew they couldn't make the turn, and I had planned it so that we were fast approaching cars in front of us, so I knew they would have to go at least a few streets down and probably face at least a little traffic. The minute I completed that turn, I floored it 85 up that street. I punched it through the neighborhood and exited on the other side, about a mile and a half closer to my house than where I had turned. I hurried home and checked my rear view mirrors the whole time. Never saw them again.

One time I was walking home from school and I heard a guy on the phone walking a little ways behind me. I couldn't make out his voice or what he was saying, and naturally, being afraid of walking home alone with a man following me, I started to speed walk. As soon as I got to where I could cross the road I decided it was safe to look and see how far behind me he was at this point. He wasn't too far behind but I did a double take because then I realized it was a guy I knew from school, really nice, not the kind of guy that I had pictured at all, and I knew he lived nearby so it was instant relief. It just goes to show how messed up the world is that I was terrified on my walk home thinking a classmate was some stranger who would kidnap me.

I knew something was off with my in-laws, I saw the threats towards me, my children and my brother. What I totally missed, was that it was my father in law who was the abuser, and that my mother in law was another victim too, they just hid the abuse so well behind closed doors that we totally didn't recognize she was being domestically abused. It ended in a gruesome brutal horrific tragedy for her, he's facing 10 to 25 years in prison. I had gotten sick a few times when I ate at their house, and ended up in the hospital the day we announced my pregnancy. My husband, my in-laws and the hospital doctors all brushed it off as a food allergy. Same thing happened to my brother when he ate food at my in-laws house, just days before my wedding. He almost ended up in the hospital too, but decided to stay at home. The night before my wedding, my brother (one of our groomsman) slept at my in-laws house. My father in law was standing hovering over my brother's head who slept on their couch, and when brother opened his eyes, my father in law said, "you have an angel watching out over you". My brother felt creeped out by someone watching him sleep. Seriously, what was supposed to happen??? Did my father in law give my brother food and expect him not to wake up ever again on the day his son was to marry me (a women of a different race). My father in law was a gambler and financially depending on his son (my husband) to always bail him out financially to lend his dad money. When a neighbor had conned us out of ALL our money, we had 1 baby and another baby on the way, my father in law had no financial back up, & had no choice but to sell his house to pay for all his debts. He went crazy with his wife spending his retirement savings, having no financial backup up plan now that we literally had no money to lend. He just went bat sh!t crazy psychopath and murdered his wife. Oh my father in law is a Pyschopath, femcide, antisemitic, racist, ageist, gambling homicidal killer. Good thing I trusted my instincts and decided NOT to eat food at their house, especially when I was pregnant carrying his mixed race grandchild that he wished never existed bc he is a racist. My mom and husband said I was "crazy" to think my father in law could intensively put something in my food and my brother's food on purpose, which sent me to the hospital while pregnant. So I started to believe them, maybe it was just an allergic reaction after all. But now that my father in law murdered my mother on law, I STRONGLY believe that me and my baby, as well as my brother getting sick after eating food at my in-laws house was NOT a coincidence, and it was intentional. My father in law is trying to day that he NEVER hit his wife before, and that he went crazy one day and killed his wife. He's trying to say that it wasn't planned. But looking back as my alcoholic depressed mother in law who was home alone 6 days a week, getting bruises, black eye, bruised ribs and arms days she "fell down the stairs", I no longer believe her excuses for her injuries. I know believe that it was her abusive husband who had domestically abused his wife the 1 day a week that he returned home from his long work trips as a trucker. I think he used to spend lots of money on his wife when he married her, she was a beautiful skinny 21yr old woman. But after 2 children and 2 additional miscarriages, 4 pregnancies had changed her body, and she was a 58 yr old woman, making the same expensive requests for new cars, new furniture, new house, but he was 64 yrs old and close to retirement and I think he started to resent his wife, especially since her alcoholic depression (probably because he was domestically abusing her), and she stopped cooking and cleaning, because she was in a depression. He'd come home after 6 days long work trip to a messy house and have go cook and clean, he resented his wife. He could have just divorced his wife, why did he have to murder her? Now she lost her life and he lost his freedom. He would have been better off with half of the money from having to sell their house and 100% of his freedom to do whatever he wanted in his retirement without his wife. He could have just left her alone, instead of killing her. I saw the red flags towards me, my babies my brother. I just missed the red flags towards my mother in law bc she was home alone and drinking and crashing cars DUI. Can't believe we all missed the signs of abuse. It all makes sense now, unfortunately according to the law, nothing can actually be proven in a court of law, unless she had reported domestic abuse to a doctor or police reports which she didn't, so according to the law, there's no evidence proof that her husband had previously physically abused his wife. It took me a while to realize me getting sick when eating their food was likely not a food allergy reaction. Once I was carrying another human being inside my body, I HAD to trust my gut instincts 100% and unfortunately I was Right about the danger about him causing harm and possibly even kill someone, because he did, he killed his wife. And I think he tried to killed me, my baby, and my brother too, we just unfortunately have no proof evidence for us. He only confessed to murdering his wife.

The first woman, I never feel right whenever someone wants to take a picture of my dog, granted there's no special information on the tag except for her name and a couple phone numbers to contact if God forbid she ever gets lost, but to me asking to take a picture of your dog is just as weird as asking to take a picture of you or your child or anything else. To me they're not just a dog, they're your family, they're your companion, to me it's as weird as asking to take a picture of your sibling or your child or even you. There's always something weird about it, and yes most of the time people don't mean anything by it, they just think your pet is cute, but it really comes off as creepy at least in my opinion to want to take a picture of someone else's animal. To me it's as weird as wanting to take a picture of me because I have such an unusual haircut or something

I also have a story So, me and my friend were walking home from school (it was like 3PM) and a man with a motorcycle pulled over us and asked where we were going and asked where we lived(he was drunk). At this point me and my friend were freaking out. She started crying like he is going to kidnap us and all that shit. But we were just freshman’s and we didn’t have phone or anything. Then I like grabbed a rock and was like “are you gonna leave or should we scream”. He didn’t respond. My friend started screaming and a fast food workers helped us get home. That day still scares me. I have another one My father and i were buying groceries and then he said we are gonna pick up my friend on the way home and I was like ok no problem. Let’s call his friend John. So, we picked up my father’s friend John. I was sitting in the front seat and he like opened the gate of the front seat and he was like can i sit there , I was like okay i will sit in the back seat (I really respected that man) and he was like no, no you can sit on my lap and i was constantly saying to him like it’s okay i will sit in the back and my father was also like she will sit in the back. “I ended up sitting on his lap”. It made me really uncomfortable . After we got home John and my father talked for a while (I was in my room at that time). HE CAME INTO MY FRIKING ROOM!!. ( I was wearing a crop top and some shorts) He like came to my and started seeing things. After that that man had the audacity to TOUCH MY BACK AND LIKE MY BREAST. I didn’t feel comfortable so i like ran into the kitchen. I don’t when he left. I DIDN’T TELL THIS STORY TO ANYONE SPECIALLY MY PARENTS BECAUSE I THINK THEY WILL NOT BELIEVE ME AND I FEEL LIKE I TRUST MY FRIEND MORE THAN MY PARENTS. Thank you for coming to my TED talk ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

My best friend and I went to Turkey on holiday. We were in our early twenties, very outgoing and loved partying. One night we went out for drinks, met 2 guys and ended up going home with them, continuing drinking. They were flirty but not invasive. At some point I got really sick, threw up and we decided to leave. They offered taking us back to the hotel with their van. We got into the van, my friend suddenly realizes she forgot her purse in the appartement. I still felt sick, so she said she will quickly go and get it. The 2 guys with her. They closed the van doors and started leaving. Even in the state I was in, I instantly had a bad feeling and wanted to come with her. I tried to open the door, it was locked. I was locked in, or locked away... I started yelling and heavily banging at the window. Adrenalin rushed through my body. She turned around, wanted to come back. They tried to lure her away from the van and distract her but eventually she realized that I am furious and something is not right. I was highly alerted from this moment on. We made it back safely. We were very lucky, this could have gone much worse.

Story experience. I was about twelve years old and I was walking my dog throughout my neighborhood. I started getting the feeling I was being watched. I was on the sidewalk and and at the right side of the road a pizza driver slowly followed me. He deliberately slowed his car as he followed me. At first, some people thought he slowed down to look at different houses. No, I wasn’t near any houses, it was only woods and our community pool at the corner. I quickly turned around and had my dog with me. However, I started getting anxious cause he wasn’t moving his car. There was a community preschool at the other side, so I quickly crossed the road and watched him. He speeded away when I headed to the daycare. When I got home, I basically straight up told my mom that a pizza creepily followed me. My mom was shock and I even heard her say sadly I’m still in elementary school. After that, my mom made sure I didn’t walk my dog alone anymore. My dog was a golden retriever she made me feel safe and I knew she would have bitten the guys head off.

Not my life but someone else's. I was 20-21, lived on the outer rim of town with my parents in a old (non working) farmhouse, so boring dead end road where during the day lots of people cycle (I'm Dutch). Fields and hedges on one side of the road big houses couple of 100m between them. Late November, two days later it started snowing, so just freezing. We had a party and were pretty drunk, brilliant night. Last 3 friends started leaving, 1 walked home (texted he was safe when he was in), two came back. There was a relatively new women's (yeah our bikes have gender differences, we're working on it) bike on the road. We all sobered up immediately. We tried calling our friend if he saw something but he was comatose asleep. So 112 (our 911) it was. My first time ever calling them, we split up in pairs and used flashlights to look for anyone in distress. We tried to be quiet as to not alarm the perp if there was one. The emergency services sent out a police car and within 10 minutes they were there. Before the police arrived we looked around the bend and saw someone lying on the ground. Terrified I look around, saw no one and ran for his aid. It was a teenager about 16/17 pissed drunk. We got blankets because a fall from a bike can injure, put him in a stable side position and talked with him. Well, tried to. The police arrived and together we waited for the ambulance. The paramedics told us if we were 15 minutes later he'd have died from hypothermia. The police took our details and we put the bike in our garage for safety. Boy came by 2 days later with a gift card and a red head of shame. Was his first time drinking in a year and the cold hit harder than expected been in hospital for 24h and was grateful for us finding him & saving his life & keepinghis mother's bike safe. It's not always the creeps, just something can feel wrong and you should listen to your instincts.

I'm lucky to have never even been in a position to be raped or murdered (THAT I KNOW OF) I'm sad these women have not had the good fortune that I have had.

All these women and females in the comment section as well as my personal experiences tell me how unsafe women are in the world because of some desperate, creepy dudes. I hope y'll stay safe all the time from whichever part of the world you belong to. 1. Don't walk at night alone especially in those places where it's deserted and quiet. 2. If it's necessary to walk alone, alway be with a trusted friend who won't ditch you. 3. Don't get intoxicated ( drinking, drugs) at places where there are strangers. 4. Carry a weapon to guard yourself. Please take care!

5. Teach men not to rape.

@@caringdevotionals2952 yes, young boys should be taught at school to not invade a woman's space and harass them. But you know a decent man would never a touch a woman but a creep no matter how many times you rebuke them or protest about it. Still they gonna do it. They are called creeps for a reason. We all know that half of the laws are already a joke. So it's better to be safe than sorry.Take care lady!

Here’s my story: I was 15 years old and home alone. My dad had just left for work. It was about 2 or 3 in the afternoon and I hear a knock on the door. Stupid me I didn’t check the peep hole in the door so I opened it and recognized the person and I was like “hey what’s up.” He pulled out a knife and tried to force his way through the door. Unfortunately I wasn’t strong enough and he pushed the door open. Came and just said take your pants off. So as I’m doing this he’s unbuckling his pants and I’m just thinking what the fuck do it do. I start praying hardcore and all I hear is look at the clock. So I look over and I just said to him, “oh shit my dads going to be home any minute, you gotta go”. So he bolts out of the door and I shut that door and lock and hide in the bathroom. Ladies always look through the peep hole.
