Told you this wasn't a beta. This was for publicity. I called this so long ago. Also, their claim about field of view is a complete lie. I've played every bethesda game with an fov of 110 by using THEIR OWN CONSOLE COMMANDS. If it really is an issue with animations then why don't they fix the animations just like every other developer does?

I love Bethesda games, but I seriously hope this game is one of the worst bombs of the 21st century in terms of money. Between Bethesda putting out a buggy fallout 4 mod and charging us 60 bucks (plus micro transactions!) and Blizzard dumping a reskinned NetEase mobile game as their blizzcon centerpiece, I'm honestly starting to get a little flabbergasted. This is like watching a train and you know it's gonna crash and instead of slowing down it's picking up speed because why not and you just know, that the terrible, terrible crash is gonna be *hilarious* . It's like they wanna commit suicide and instead of going with a bullet they decide to go with the TNT. They gonna do it anyway so might as well enjoy the fireworks 😂

Of *course* they are going to monetize stash tokens within 30 days at launch. The same way there are going to be XP boosts in the cash shop soon. That's literally the only reason there would be level-gated gear. The PvP is set up so that it's both opt-in and leveled so a level 5 can effectively pair up against a level 20. It's obvious, insulting, and infuriating. I hate this kind of lazy-ass design that is so obviously a minimum-effort reskin of a previous game just to suck money out of a cash shop. The atom shop was the only thing that wasn't buggy in the beta, and that should really tell you something.

As a former engine dev, here are my observations: 1. Ultrawide: incredibly easy to code! It is in fact actually quite hard to create an engine that supports more than one resolution (so everything that is not some shitty console port locked to 1080p; anyway, we didn't have had one of those in years, because supporting resolutions is easy) without supporting them all. If you don't support all resolutions and are an engine dev, you can add support in hours and maybe take a couple of days to test it properly. Now Bethesda might have a really shit engine (duh!) and it might take a month or two to add support. No problem. Add it. You had time since Morrowind to add this to your engine. As for the issue of stretching out the UI on ultrawide? Again! Trivial. Are you honestly having problems moving around some 2D GUI elements on screen? No way! It would literally take minutes to fix this is you are familiar with any normal engine. 2. FOV slider: again, it is impossible to create a camera without giving it the parameters that ultimately result in the FoV. So all you need to do is ad a slider and tie it to the camera parameters. As for the bullshit of animations having problems and clipping, this is the first time I've hears of such an issue. I don't think this problem exists and Bethesda are lying or don't know their own engine, but if somehow it is true, that is very damming of their engine. A problem very unique to Bethesda. Especially since mods have been changing FoV and you can change FoV in the console in Bethesda games and it works fine. 3. Push to talk: really? What a bunch of out of touch wankers? Really? How are people like this allowed to make choices about games. Sheer incompetency. Nevermind the sheer laziness! Just fucking add a new key and it is pressed, unmute the mic. Done!

Nobody has even mentioned how the fallout 76 gameplay trailer looks NOTHING like the actual game in terms of graphics..

in regards to FOV, it can actually be changed in the console. but all the first person animations for weapons do clip slightly when you go to aim down sights, especially when you have scopes that zoom in, almost as if the zooming function in the game is just removing the weapon sprite and changing the fov to "10"

I'm glad the game is going to be broken on release. I saw a video not too long ago about how WW3 was broken on launch and people were like "this is the worst game ever" and saying that the game will be dead in a matter of weeks. So I'm curious to see what will happen when a _AAA_ game, from a prominent and well-funded team, is broken on launch and to see what the fanbase will say then.

Still waiting on that hard reset, someone needs to unplug the gaming industry and plug it back in. Best thing that could possibly happen is a second market crash so greedy developers go back to making quality products instead of broken schlock like this that they feel like we owe to them to buy. I honestly feel sorry for the up-comming developers who have real passion for the industry and end up getting stuck making garbage like this.

No one understands what beta means anymore. Fan bois that blindly defend games through release and excuse everything wrong as "it's just BETA" is exactly why we have this evolution in the video gaming industry where companies release unfinished products for full price. How many times are players gonna get burned by "BETA Demos". Companies shouldn't even be calling it a f***ing BETA if they aren't gonna take criticism and fix the problems that players find. Call it what it is. It is a demo, plain and simple. A joke, a trick, some tomfoolery, to get you to preorder and boost prerelease revenue. They don't actually fix most problems identified in these demos until 3-6 months after release, if at all, and sometimes they only do that if there is enough of a backlash within the community. It's disgusting.

On the topic of weather or not they will charge for extra storage space. Elder Scrolls Online already does so. If you pay for the monthly membership then you get double bank space, double the decoration limit in all you houses, and a crafting bag that can hold a limit less amount of crafting resources. But you only get that as long as you keep paying the monthly fee.

My biggest worry about Fallout 76 isn't this game, but what it means for Fallout 5 or Elder Scrolls 6. If this is what we have in store from Bethesda I'm going to be luke warm to anything else coming out of Maryland. Creation club was bad, then we got this clusterf***... I fear we will be "Press F to show your respects" at the next ganeplay demo of an upcoming Bethesda game. I'm seriously considering going back to reading books as my main hobby, after 20+ years of gaming. Books at least have creative people behind the wheel, not market research schmucks and ivy-league business majors....

Bethesda is overrated. Fallout 76 is exactly that, a mod for fallout 4 at a price of a full game with microtransactions (from the first trailer you could already saw it)... There is even mods with less bugs than this game, and they will never fix it, they don't fix bugs, at least not the ones that matters, the community (with fix and mods) is the one that have to save their games.

I love Bethesda and their games but I hope this game just miserably fails. I think its unacceptable to ise this engine in 2018, with how shitty fallout 4 ran.. I don't wanna imagine how awful this game will run. They need to learn to make a new engine

Bethesda should hire some good programmers, put them in a room and make them create a good engine because this clearly doesn't work. I don't like dickriding CDPR but at least they've updated their engine every new game they've created, which is partly why there have been big improvements after every witcher game. Cyperpunk also has an updated engine.

This game is gonna be the et the extra terrestrial of a generation. One day someone will find hundreds of companies of this game buried.

You guys should have seen For Honor just before it released. Ubi had an alpha and closed and open betas, a TON of feedback and a gigantic list of common bugs and balance breaking mechanical issues submitted... and they fixed none of it. Game released practically the same as it was in the betas. Took them years to work everything out, and it's still pretty fucking tenuously "balanced" so far as fighters go. I honestly don't think those big AAA developers care. They want to keep up the hype momentum and release on schedule, then fix in post, because people will buy their shit regardless, and they've already got the preorder money. It's really good optics to release a huge game saving patch after release anyway. "Oh look at us fucking saints that we are, doing all of this work for you guys after we shipped the game to make it even better. We care about you so much!" It'll get picked up by all the games media and they'll get what amounts to another release week hype cycle out of it. It'll earn more money and get people logging in again after the population stabilises. Love your shit btw aussie fan here

Literally the only thing they could have done to restore faith and give this game a fighting chance is to announce that they're pushing the game back to September 2019. That's it. That's the only way this game could've been salvaged. I originally thought that the problems were just technical but the more I've seen and heard has made me realize that the gameplay, and the core gameplay loop, are just as broken as the technical side of things. They maybe could've ironed these things out if they delayed it for 8-10 months but they didn't and I really don't see how they can basically create a new game after 76 has launched. Yes, there have been "bad" games that have benefitted from hard work and constant updates, such as Rainbow Six Siege, No Mans Sky, and The Division, but those games had something that 76 doesn't seem to have which is a good foundation. No Mans Sky worked and it was beautiful and it had that sense of survival and exploration there just wasn't enough to it. At launch The Division was a collection of really cool ideas that weren't fully fleshed out. 76 on the other hand doesn't have much to work with. It doesn't work well from a technical standpoint at all. It has almost zero QoL features. Its a Fallout game without the thing that makes Fallout games great which is an interesting story and intriguing, complex, characters. Its an empty, barren, world filled with fetch quests and griefers. This game is dead before it even arrives. It will sell poorly, tarnish Bethesda's reputation, and end up costing them more than it would've if they had just pushed it back.

You don't even need a mod for it in the older game titles. You can bloody set FOV in the console. Hell, because I was too lazy to look for binocular mod for Skyrim, I'd just set the FOV to 10 to get a good look from afar then set it all the way back to 91 when I was done. With some occasional clipping and bug with your arm animation, it was worth enduring for not getting a headache.

Let's just hope they use a new engine on the elder scrolls 6

I don't believe for a second that big stash sizes hurt their bottom line. The database needs two ID columns saying which player the item belongs to, and one which says what the item is. The size can be measured in bytes. Cost of storage size is insignificant anyway, and sending the extra data across the network only slightly less so. Now, that it might hurt their bottom line by not forcing the community to buy extra space... that I'm willing to buy.
