Realtalk, there was not even an Option to prefer FO76 to RDR2. Even if you're a fan of the Fallout-Series like me. The "Beta" was crap and everyone knows Bethesda could fix it in one or two weeks. Bethesda worked harder to make the game a cashcow, instead of fixing it. Todays Games are only to drain every buck out of your wallet, like bo4 do. Its a shame to say but €A's marketing and selling strategie in order to BF4 is one of the best Models out there today. Ignoring their promo falls. RU-vidaccount177 well....along those lines, I and ever single bgs/ fallout fan I know are having a blast with 76. Yes, it’s buggy atm but far less so than fo3 or nv on release. Even less buggy than I remember Skyrim to be on release. Outside of the current power armor bug ( you’d know it if you had it) I’ve not encountered anything game breaking. 76 runs fine for me on pc and is absolutely typical bgs open-world goodness. And since they’ve said it’s evergreen and all content updates will be free, that just makes me that much happier w it. So, you’re happy that I’m happy with it, right?

Why feel sorry for them? They were just trying to mold FO further into the market trends while making up lengthy excuses to hide it. Their game design has been overrated for years, but this time their attempts to milk FO on a shitty engine did not work out and the normal mainstream deflections and bought scores they used to get aren't there to sway people. FO4 was disappointing but it no where got the real critical deconstruction FO76 is getting despite the issues being essentially the same if not worsened by this direction. I don't feel anything for Bethesda because I know, after this they won't see this as an issue with the direction, they'll just pass it off as poor marketing and them not protecting their publicity enough, the way they did with Skyrim. They were overdue from this backlash due to their ego. People have complained for years about them dumbing down FO.

Hurbii one of the main issues is that they release basically a buggy Fallout 4 Online for full retail at the same time RDR2 gives us an online version for free. It’s sad!!

@@dynasty971 also, DS1 was revolutionary for its time and had graphics that were too good for the average PC, which is actually part of why blighttown was a nightmare, most PCs couldn't handle the scale and the water textures since the game wasn't optimized properly to let the PC render them. meanwhile, fallout has used the same engine and models for nearly 20 years.

For 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 hits the mark so far. Pleasantly surprised. We will see how online shapes up. But I haven't seen a game in a long time, work and play well straight out the gate. Rdr2 does. Not one game this year ( that I'm aware of ) can claim that. No bs just a finished+polished product. I'm not even a fan of the western theme. But Rockstar have truly outdone themselves.

Pre-existing player homes, new ones can be modded in. Every named NPC at least adds to the lore through dialogue, if not gives you one of hundreds of quests. Compelling story with several different endings, affected by player choice. Multiple fleshed-out factions, some of which are in conflict. Many references to older fallout titles, remaining true to established lore and expanding on it. Each DLC is its own standalone story that connects with the main game and the other DLCs to tell a much larger, grand story. Will be remembered as one of the best RPGs of all time, and will be placed in a gold plated space capsule so that aliens may experience a fragment of the best of humanity's culture.

He barely mentions lore in the review and talks mostly about the games visuals/storytelling and and whatnot. Fallout 76 is an insult. Bethesda have been slowly lowering themselves into a casket for a few years now fallout 4 was mediocre but passable and forgivable even, but trying to please two audiences at once and failing at both, the marketing of 76 pre e3/trailers was a slap in the face. Then don’t get me started on the abomination that is the creation club. Sales are down 82% here in the UK compared to fallout 4 I hope that trend continues elsewhere to give Bethesda the kick up the arse they need to reconnect with a fan base they’ve lost touch with.

I'm an 80s guy and I'll be the first to say the cartoons weren't objectively all that great, in hindsight - edit: except probably for Beast Wars, in my opinion. They were basically adverts for toys. What made the movies bad was 3 parts disrespect to the cartoons, but 7 parts simply bad movies. The Last Jedi is also a good example. I was never one to compare things to their originals - usually because nostalgia prevents us from looking at whatever flaws those originals also had. But, what we're talking about here is media relying solely on the name and success of their predecesors, without putting any effort to uphold that success

Being alone made it more personal and the characters you met built the atmosphere. I'd love to tell them all I told you so but that would be kicking them when they're down. The personal experiences, the crazy random shit that happens can not be replicated the same way in a multiplayer setting. And as you see when they tried to adapt Fallout to that multiplayer setting it ended up looking like a hollow shell of its former self. Now it's on those people to either fall on their sword and say they were wrong and show Bethesda we expect better from them or reinforce Bethesdas crappy production practices and defend it to the death.

I could careless if people hate fallout 76, but how am i supposed to trust metacritic as a reputable review source if they constantly allow this to happen? Reviews with no actual content that could make them reivews, in other words they have no meaning. No way to make sure people can't review twice.(you can review twice fun y but defeats the point). @Zanard Bell dont have to, after all obsidian chose to sign for that bonus and the terms for the contrqxt. It was all obsidian. They could have negotiated for better terms, but because of greed( bonus they didn't earn according to the terms they signed)they signed that contract. Nobody's fault but obsidian's.

I remember when he said, right before revealing skyrim, that he was terrified. Because they put so much work and effort into that game. Obviously it did have al ot of bugs and stuff, but you could tell they really did really work hard on making an enjoyable, fun game. So of course he was scared people wouldn't like it... But he didn't sound that way with fallout 76. It made it feel like he didn't care. Maybe because they didn't put their all into it. Should developers be scared of debuting their games? Hell yeah they should be. Because it shows, if nothing else, that the developers give a damn. They care, and that is reflected in the game. Whether the game is awesome or bad, you can still tell that they cared. ...Or not, as Fallout 76 shows.

This game 's failure might be be the best thing to happen to the series. Bethesda might actually realize that fans want more games like FO3 and, more importantly, New Vegas and stop trying to push stuff like 4 and 76 on us.

Unless Bethesda is willing to spend billions of dollars to get chris avalon and the other OG makers of the first two fallout game's plus the new vegas team along with the rest of obsidian which I doubt, this is most likely the end of fallout as we know it. I guess this is how fans felt after fallout tactics bombed and interplay went belly up.

Yes they tweaked and made numerous adjustments but at this point it's getting clear how unstable this engine truly is and the fact they've been modifying this since Oblivion and they *STILL* have problems with it that's when we have to start asking questions here
