This was a great conversation with Rick Rodriguez ‪@chargermopar‬ about how he went Carnivore at 15 years old and never looked back. Not only did it not kill him, but he has also been in perfect health since and even went from being the shortest guy in high school to the second tallest at graduation at 6'6 in less than 3 years. This is truly an inspiring story, and one I know you'll enjoy. Please watch and share with anyone who wants reassurance of the long-term outcomes of this way of eating, or to anyone who thinks it cannot be done in a healthy way long term.

Darn what a small world! I met Rick once a year ago on a Craig’s ad I put up. He carried off like 30 five gallon buckets onto his pickup truck. They were full of sesame oil which he explained he’d render it down and convert it to bio-diesel to run his pickup truck. He wasn’t out of breathe either. A true genuine guy.

@@jurisrocky6542 In the video, he says that he started doing carnivore at 14, 15 years old. By that point, a lot of the teeth and jaw development has been damaged by the mixed diet his parents put him through, resulting in crowding teeth. Fortunately for him, he went hardcore carnivore and so after a while, the jaw widened and provided enough room for the wisdom teeth and things improved. Nevertheless, it couldn't be optimal compare to if he were to begin carnivore at birth. And what do you even meat with red eyelids? How do you even pick that up from the video? I couldn't see it

Terrific interview! I'm 65, my picture is recent. I'm a carnivore. Like Rick I knew that eating sweets just wasn't appealing. As a child I was into eating like our ancestors. My grandmother told me seed oils were developed during the war to lube machines. I starting fasting when I was 9. We aren't designed to have food available 24 hours a day. As a widow it's so lovely to see fit older men. I have had many men ask me out but I am appalled at the metabolic dysfunction of men over 50. I could never be with anyone who eats ultraprocrssed foods and is pre-diabetic. But you know, there is really no such thing as "prediabetic" , that's like being a little pregnant. The damage to the body from hyperinsulimia is system wide. We As a people have become so used to seeing people who are metabolically dysfunctional that we look at their poor physical condition and multiple ailments as " normal". No, this is not normal, it's a national tragedy.
@anthonychaffeemd

I absolutely agree, it's not what it is supposed to be. The natural state of humanity is to be helpless like yourself and Rick. Good on you for recognizing that in such an early age. Hopefully your family and friends have learned from you

I'm 69 and I can't count how many family members & friends have long suffered & died before they should have. Sometimes It feels like I'm in a bomb zone after a century of bombing. All I do now is rebuild, eat as healthy as I can & share this hidden food paradigm with family & friends. Well wishes...

WE LOVE that he eats iguanas and I love how he remembers in detail how he grew to 6 foot 6 in high school on a carnivore diet (probably keeping him from all manner of dangerous inclinations given his background that he so vividly remembers). Changes like this take some time physiologically systemic results, but any digestive issues [ I had gerd/bloating ] will go away or down quite a bit in the first few weeks. If I drank beer or ate veggies and crackers..... within 3 days the gerd would return and I would start retaining too much fluid and bloat. Sooooooooooo NOW is always a good time to change things up!

I am about 3 weeks carnivore now, after years of being obsessed with whole, plant-based foods. I wish I had this knowledge before and that I hadn't been lied to, but I am grateful that I have it now before I get much older. I feel like crying with joy knowing that I can finally make and keep myself healthy and live the life as I age that I've imagined. I already noticed that the tenderness I was having when I floss went away. The discomfort that I generally feel on and off that is associated with endometriosis hasn't been happening. Also, as I had hoped, it seems like the itchy patch that I have had on my scalp for the last two years...that nothing has helped...is finally going away. Waiting to see if I feel less awful than I usually do when I have my period in a week. Looking forward to seeing how things go over time. What a wonderful interview! I love how genuine Rick is. I just started the carnivore lifestyle a month ago and I already feel amazing. How encouraging it is to know that I could this for the rest of my life.😀

I absolutely love you and your channel. I don't think I have ever seen such love and caring from any other doctor on Utube or any of my personal doctors, for that matter, either. Thanks for all you do and for all you've taught me!! And the coolest thing is that I feel no judgment or criticism from you. So much easier learning from someone like you!!

Truly a resourceful human. My father is Latin and kept our yard in the same manner. Grew everything, was an animal farmer a talented GC and custom carpenter. He tended goats and cows, we even had chickens until we got reported because they would crow in the morning. He could grow, build or fix anything. Lived pretty long despite drinking beer and smoking cigars. But he didn’t eat processed foods, so his seed oil or sugar exposure was never a variable. Anyway, Rick is a colorful and interesting human. Great interview!

Breakfast: Three over easy (cooked in bacon grease), two hardboiled, 4 rashers of bacon, two pork sausage, some smoked salmon, a protein shake and a small glass of buttermilk. Decided to fast between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., i.e., "skipped lunch." Dinner out with my wife Mary: I opted for a 16 oz rare prime rib, with some parmesan polenta, a dozen oysters on the half shell...one with a pearl, which I gave to the waitress (in addition to her gratuity, of course). She said "Thank you sir, we're glad you spotted that before you accidentally swallowed it! I'll add it to my collection. This is the fourth one that's showed up this week. Thanks to customers like you, I'll have enough for a necklace, before you know it!" Just for the heck of it, I had them throw in a salad (wilted lettuce, which was on the house specials list. Not bad, if i do say so myself (regular lettuce with warm bacon grease and a little vinegar as a dressing). Mary, herself a dedicated carnivore, wasn't too hungy (she hadn't skipped lunch). Mary had a little lamb. And that was it for her.

I felt great but wasn’t able to wrap my mind around it. Now with more research under my belt thanks to you and dr berry, dr Saladino and others I’ve been able to embrace it wholly, change my paradigm and stop questioning why I feel so good living this way😂 and stop starving myself

Loved this interview! It's great to hear the science from experts in the field who've figured out the guidelines and standard of care are junk but it's also good to hear from everyday people who have figured out for themselves, despite not having any scientific training, what a proper human diet should be. I wonder how many people there are out there who might have similar stories? I even enjoyed the off-topic conversions and what I gleaned from this is that he had tuned out from "modern life"and expectations in general, which may explain why he hasn't listen to the so-called modern day dietary advice and guidelines. I hope you find more like him in the future.

We used to be plant based and my husband would look into the fridge and say the same thing. What the hell is there to eat? Even though it was packed with produce. Eating a meat diet is soo much more appealing and I'm so glad to don't have to force a single vegetable down again. Yuck! Never did like them, not a one. Rick had me lol for real. He cracks me up!

Rick is testament to the carnivore diet. Love his story about growth in high school. It shows how meat is so very important in our formative years. I so want to tell my nephew this but he is too busy to listen. His son is 3 and short for his age, meat would be very helpful now. It was interesting to hear Rick tell about the body builder. I remember an episode on Survival where a body builder was one of the first to opt out of an exercise involving muscle work. He was able to lift weight but his muscles gave out as they were programmed to only lift, not work. That is where cross training comes in handy I bet. Rick is old school, no reliant on everything available. That is where many will fall in the coming time. I will try his naked chicken egg hunting, lol.

I was taller than my peers througout school and I think it's because my parents fed me a lot of meat. I was also not allowed any fast food, junk food and candy. I started eating all of that when I got older and lived apart from my family. And I got sicker and sicker. I then became vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian but nothing helped me until I finally decided to eat meat again. Now I'm 100% carnivore.

@@Eirlys0104 Good to hear you are back to carnivore. Even tho I am only in week 11, I have seen more health benefits than on the other diets I've tried. Some were detailed and others were eat this or that, it was very annoying now that I look back. The more I read of stories like yours it's clear there is something very wrong with our food guide, AND fad diets. Many people have gone full circle like you and only the meat diet has given them their lives back, that is what I am aiming for. Many have healed themselves with the carnivore diet so I'm staying with it as a new convert in week 11. Been reading Bill Schindler's book Eat Like A Human and see that we are definitely meat eaters from the beginning. The people he visited are meat eaters and are much healthier than us in the first world. All we can do is help ourselves and be examples for those to follow. Congratulations on healing yourself!
