In 1989, the entire town of Miramichi is held hostage by a monster. This troubled man with a heinous past embarks on a 7-month crime spree, including brutal beatings, rape, arson and serial murder. His victims are women, both young and old. The rampage culminates in the killing of a local priest. Finally, Canada's most intensive manhunt frees the people from Allan Legere, the Monster of Miramichi.

If I've learned anything from hundreds of crime documentaries, don't ever live in a place where people don't lock their doors. That's where all the worst shit happens.

My mother worked at the Sheriffs Office. My mother transported most of these serial killers from the court house to jail. She would bring them up to the courthouse and watch as the trials went on. She said some of these murder were so Gruesome that to this day she still remember and literally like hear their voice of what they were saying.

My father was the one of the paramedics that rushed Nena to the hospital, and testified against that psycho.

I grew up in Miramchi and I was 10 when this happened. They canceled Halloween. I remember sitting at my grandmother's in Chatham listening to the scanner when the priest and nuns were murdered.

It always makes my blood boil when people say "this never happens here, we never lock our door". Well do you wanna be first then? People, lock your doors no matter what. Even if there's a very low crime rate around you, DOORS EXIST FOR A REASON

do you not realize that living naively and making yourself vulnerable (unlocked doors is just asking for trouble) is exactly what someone up to no good is counting on? Life is not idealized fiction; crime happens everywhere.

One lesson to be learned is when you take a high risk prisoner out for a medical appointment you had better have enough police officers around that person so that he doesn't escape and murder even more people.

One thing the documentary didn't mention was how he would enter people's houses at night, make himself a cup of coffee and a sandwich and read their newspaper, leaving just a note saying that he and been there. Creepy I know. As I write this, I am sitting in a house in Chatam, about a 1 km walk from the Catholic priests house.

Nina Flam was a Wonder Woman. No way could many people have gotten on that witness stand and testify to the things that happened to her. May she rest in peace

Allan was actually my neighbour, my family knew him. I live in New Brunswick Canada also. And back in the day he lived just a couple houses down from us.

This is probably my 3rd viewing of this horror and I'm still SMH : how could this monster be considered for ANY kind of parole. Canada is far too lenient.

In 2021 Alan Legere asked to be release during the day on parole but is request as been refused. So people in Miramichi could stay safe from that Monster
