Agreed, I was yelling at my TV when that part of the story came to light. Who would not call the police on an open attempted murder case? Even if it was not, I would have called the police for two to three reasons, mud on the plate when the rest of the car was clean, the rubber gloves the driver was wearing, and three the guy looked like the suspect. What more do you want? That poor lady would be alive today if the cops were called that day, I am sure of this. Strange shooting, strange car, risk your life to uncover the plate but your right I should not get involved. The safety of a city falls on everyone.

What an incredibly cruel insult to the victim and her family to grant Thatcher FULL PAROLE after serving less than ONE THIRD of his sentence. And hey how about that Operation Wire eh??? Way to go Saskatchewan. Invest oodles of time, intelligence and resources, then arrest and convict Thatcher---only to release him several years later on FULL PAROLE???? Your definition of justice for a butchered and murdered woman is a disgrace to the rest of this country.

@@annanderson7 It's the same thing here in Belgium. The problem is that politicians and others in a manipulative way shifted the focus on rehabilitation, saying criminals don't learn anything from long sentences. It's horrible i think because the point it to punish. Rehabilitation should be at their own expense not tax payer's money.. AFTER they have done their full time. Then there are those who want to make people feel guilty saying it's just pure hate or revenge to want long term jailing. Which is also manipulative and besides the point.

Nice to know that the reporters respected his privacy and didn't openly accuse him because they deal with him all the time and did not want to ruin his career if they were wrong. However, random normal everyday people are Accused by those same reporters all the time whether or not the reporters are correct. And they ruin people's lives all the time. He managed to convince his kids that their dead mother was the real monster and are estranged from the Wilson family. Shortly after OJ came out with IF I DID IT Thatcher published his own book (his second, his first was published while he was in prison) called FINAL APPEAL where he said he was framed by a conspiracy against him and showed mysterious letters - of course none of this was seen until his book release.

I can't believe all the ineptness in this case. After the lady is shot but survives all the neighbours and her housekeeper notice the house under surveillance by a man in a blue car, a man who looks like the original shooter (stupid man didn't disguise himself) but nobody calls police to give some protection to the victim and scare the killer off. Then it's a government car. . .and again the killer didn't bother to disguise himself. And leaving Colin's credit card slip at the scene of the murder. . .and we wonder why government is so inept.

He counted on no one reporting something suspicious since he obviously understood the fact that people really don't want to get involved even if they suspect someone is in danger. He was right! The irony is people want you to get involved if they were in danger, but they won't do it for you.

One needs only to look at the root of words "politics" to answer your question. It comes from the Latin "poly" meaning many, like a many sided polygon. Then it comes from the word "tick" meaning a blood sucking parasite. Polytickian, Anglocized to politician. Many blood sucking parasites.
