Thanks! The pipe is pretty crazy. You can hear more of it here when it was on the dyno getting tuned. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ajQaenh2vfI.html

hey do you notice much lag with the big bore baffle and the cam with that set up? thanks and sounds awesome!
@perrycountyposse
@perrycountyposse 2 года назад
I don’t notice any lag at all with this configuration. The horsepower and torque curves are very linear. If you want to email me at perrycountyposserc@gmail.com I can send you a copy of my dyno chart so you can take a look at it. There’s no weird dips in power or anything like that. Oddly enough I was in talking to the dealership the other day and they said they have yet to have a bike in there with a Stage 2 setup making the numbers my bike made. I can only say that if someone was planning on staying with a 114 motor no one would probably recommend these particular parts be installed together (since they are designed for a bigger displacement motor), but I’ve been very happy with it and the power has been worth every penny.

I have been looking at the S&S 540 cam for my 128” softail. Bike currently has 475 cam, and it runs really nice, but I have seen a couple videos with the 540 and those bikes seem really quick. Problem is, I can’t find much feedback on the cam, especially on a softail. One guy had the 540 and said it was great, and a few months later said he regretted it due to it riding too much like a drag bike. When I think drag bike, I think high rpm/high horsepower, but I think he meant manners at slow speeds/throttle jerking/etc. Any issues with your bike at around-town speeds? Does it pull hard into upper rpm’s, or is it all low end and power band drops off fast? Would love to see a speedometer video of up to 120 mph

Thanks for the comment and question Weston. I’ve been really happy with the cam. Admittedly I’ve been riding with it in my bike which is currently a 114. The cam is designed for the bigger bore motors like the one you have. I’ve had no issues with ride-ability. The bike pulls hard all the way to redline. The torque is available down low so when you whack the throttle you know it. The bike is actually in the shop as we speak getting an S&S 131 kit with new heads. I’ll be interested to feel the difference when I get it back. If you’re happy with your 475 cam I wouldn’t change it out, but if you want more torque by all means step up to the 540. The shop can adjust the sensitivity of the throttle response. For the gentleman who said it felt too jerked I’m curious if he explored that option? I purposely told them to make my throttle sensitive so there is no play in it. Took a bit to get used to, but once I did it was just became normal again.

I’d also check out this video from Million Dollar Bogan and the video he posted before it where he talks about his 590 cam and why he’s changing to a 540. I’m sure he’ll be posting some high speed runs when the bike is done. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GE_kxzxsfvs.html

@@perrycountyposse after hearing your bike that’s the sound and cam that I’m looking for but unfortunately I’m not planning on building the bike pass the stage two because I have a CVO that I want to build a 139 or a 143 . I just want to wanted it up . Did you have any issue running the D&D with the 540 cam ? Considering it’s not for a 114ci
@perrycountyposse
@perrycountyposse 2 года назад
@@davidmatias6239 No, I didn’t have any issues. Bike ran great, and honestly there’s not much of a need to go beyond a Stage II unless you want to. You’ll get the biggest performance gain for the dollar with the Stage II. That said, I just replaced about everything in the motor and primary when I upgraded to the S&S 131. The bike is an absolute beast to ride now.

Might be a stupid question but is it bad or hard on anything to run that cam in a 114?
@perrycountyposse
@perrycountyposse 2 года назад
No, not as long as the bike is properly tuned. I installed the full cam chest kit which comes with the heavy duty valve springs which you will need with this cam.

How’s that cam run in the 114? I’m trying to decide between the 540 and 550.
@perrycountyposse
@perrycountyposse 3 года назад
I’m extremely happy with the cam, especially considering the 540 is recommended for a 124 or larger motor. It really comes down to if you want to focus more on horsepower (550 cam) or torque (540 cam). This video was made prior to tuning. I plan to release a new video in the near future with now that it’s tuned. I was able to achieve 122hp and 133 foot-pounds of torque with just the cam, tune, and exhaust. The bike buries the speedo (120+ mph) in no time for a torque cam. I should also note the exhaust has the big bore baffle which is designed for 114 stage 4 and up. I’m in the process of building it up to a 131 (or larger) over the winter which is why I went with the 540 cam and baffle. Honestly, I think you’ll be happy with either one as both are are a huge improvement over stock.

@@perrycountyposse That’s great to hear! I’m wanting to do the same. Cam now and big bore later. I’m running the Screamin Eagle torque cam now which runs really good but I’m ready for more. I had Screamin Eagle mufflers but recently switched to S&S GNX mufflers and will be changing the head pipe when I do the cam job. Anyway, your bike sounds awesome! I look forward to seeing more of it. Thanks!
