This could actually work. As a person who likes to notice body language, you can tell after a while what a person would choose simply by looking at the body part they would use to do the action. He asked to see the hand so he could detect the minute muscle movements that this man would make as he enters his PIN. Tendons, muscles and veins take the mind's thought and minutely project it, as a thought usually causes action. So yes, probable.

Actually, apple and gold it makes perfect sense for three reasons. 1: Gold is a color of an apple such as Granny Smith apples. 2: These people are rich and likely to associate apple with the golden type for that reason. 3: Google the word "kallisti"
No. He does not do any of this. He uses NLP and his good old fashioned brains and charm. He does so much of his work to disprove occultism, yet it makes many believe in it ever stronger! I suppose people are just not ready to give up spirituality.

pin number - he just knew before hand. black - my guess is he gave a NLP hypnotic suggestion to the highly suggestible girl in red. make the guy write any random 20 digit number right there and try to guess THAT or suggest them to think of unusual words beforehand, such as mixing Israel Asimov and then predict THIS. Derren is really good nevertheless.
I think it's got to do with his entire body, you couldn't tell just from his eyes moving up and down, because how do you know where he starts, or if he's moving once or twice to the right, for example.
Out of curiosity, what do you mean 'believe'? Do you believe that it is possible to actually read someone's mind (perhaps through looking deep into someone's eyes), or do you believe that that same effect can be achieved through trickery? I think I can tell you what happened at your school. You were probably influenced to pick a card of the magician's choosing, not your own. This can be done through relatively simple NLP. (more curiosity; was it the 3 of diamonds by any chance?)
i thought a whole bunch of words, i was coming out with apple, blue, sun and stuff like that. thats really similar to the stuff they came out with. colours, fruits and i guess bright things that stand out
looking at some of the other clips of darren brown,he was able to convince a girl that her car was black, even though it was red. I think he has done the same here. I think the pin is wrong, but somehow he has convinced the guy that what he sees in his pin number, when actually it is probably not
You don't see the whole video, it's edited obviously... like the part of the gimmick where he asks lord what his actual pin and he answers is it edited out... plus derren in defiantly proficient enough in his methods to use a swami
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right, he's not psychic, like I'm sure he just looked for facial clues in that one vid where he guessed verbatim what girls were thinking, and could beat people @ paper, scissors, stone without looking at them, you're really onto something there.

That's stupid. How could he know that she would be the one to say black? And who the hell associates apple with gold? There is no way in hell he could have predicted that.

This seems impossible to me. He arguments that he does not read minds and merely influences people to think what he wants them to think by using skill and psychology. I believe that in other cases at live performances it is true that you can manipulate the human mind on a subconcious level as he does. Yet in this instance he allegedly mind-reads a pin number from a guy who doesn't move or say numbers from 1 to 10.
at 1,50 up to1,59 or so- jea you see hes is wearing black and showing with his hand down on him and saying the word blach with out loud speaking---but why the girl at the end says black and not any other?????
why is that so rediculous to think he chose the word that he knows will be said because they are all wearing black and he wrote in a black pen. unless you think he can really read minds.

Do you actually ever take things as face value? or do you try and interpret every single little thing that goes on in your life - trying to justify it. Personally i don't really care because i know for a fact people notice small things like this in their subconscious, but i'm just wondering.
TheRorofrappuccino .... lol, u seriously ? well, errr, maybe is cos the word "pin" can also be a noun, also and adjective if describing a feeling, so for example: "give me your PIN" can refer to a small little sharp pin , as in pin cushion or pins and needles, therefore, "PIN number" is to clarify...... ;-D

I know there's some trick to it there is always some clue and once you can find it the whole thing will make sense but like me if you don't know the clues and hints to look for it really is amazing to watch this guy is pretty cool
Wow some of you guys are pretty sick its a simple trick and you guys make it look like a total conspiracy or if that magic or occultist power really exist derren just make the guy focus and visualize when he is pushing the buttons of his pin then the guy move his eyes unconsciously to where numbers are.
he uses simple illusionist tricks. the rapport one with raising the glass simultaneously is children's magic. nlp and muscle reading, give me a break. it is simple tricks! he is using a swami gimmick!
