@@ydoIhavetohaveachann build from scratch with stuff in-the-white. Then don't clean it up after. I know that I leave all sorts of apprentice marks when I try builds. Probably be a more believable finish. And it would be way cheaper in the long run

I was surprised. I have the rifle length version and it's very reliable for a .22. Better than my 10/22. I wonder if the short barrel uncorks the pressure too quickly to run the blowback bolt reliably. Could just need some breaking in. I'd be curious to see a few hundred rounds through it, and after a good oiling.

@@brendanh8978 The stock conversion kit has a junk bolt weight and makes it really hit or miss depending on platform. BoreBuddy's adjustible weight lets you dial it in. I never understood why CMMG didn't update the design because it's a known problem.

I joined realized that they should have chambered this in 223, there is some recoil to the blaster and it’s a lot easier to get 5.56 tracer ammo!

Yeah it's just not a proper replica without the scope. It should have been in 9mm also.

@@mtnbound2764 Because the C96 Mauser upon which it is based was never in 22. It was in 9mm however.

There are also inserts for normal charging handles that prevent the shell casings from getting stuck inside of it.

It doesn't bode well when a company screws up an easy chance at free advertising.

@@thomasneedham1512 M16s have a gas tube there, but a .22 upper doesn't, and leaves a very .22-sized gap right above the mag.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing too. I really like the A280 as well. It was super solid in the original Battlefront games and lately I've been using it in a Blade and Sorcery mod as well.

I was scrolling the comments to see if anyone else had pointed out this "DL-44" wasn't based on a C96.

But then some nerds parents would be no way we getting him a 9 mill ! But honey it's a .22 is an easier sell. Plus those squirrels are ruining the garden

Actually its not Han's blaster. Han's blaster was a Mauser C96 that was tinkered with the make it look all sci-fi. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauser_C96#Cultural_significance They're actually relatively rare since Mauser only made around 1.1 million (of all variants) and stopped production before WWII. This... This is an AR-15 pistol converted to .22LR and and modded to look like a DL-44 (AKA a sci-fi modded C96). At best it sort of looks like Han's blaster. And it may save an actual C96 (or a more recent reproduction) from modding by a fanboy, but honestly it doesn't even look quite right. The lack of an exposed hammer is one thing that is missing... Plus the magazine well is obviously too big. For what its worth, the Charter Arms AR7 Explorer II pistol (which was based on the still available AR7 rifle...) more closely resembles the DL-44, though again there are differences like the lack of the exposed hammer and the magazine not being quite right since its designed to take a detachable box magazine instead of using a top-loading, 10-round, internal box magazine like the C96.

That’s what I was wondering and I bet the answer is yes.

You'd have to do some gunsmithing. The barrel is .22 LR, and special made to work with their proprietary blowback bolt system. You'd have to replace the barrel, install a gas block and gas tube, and then a buffer tube. Not really worth the hassle.

Hmm. So you're basically asking for it to become an even more expensive, integrally-suppressed NFA item that looks nothing like Han Solo's famous DL-44? I wonder who, besides you, would actually be willing to buy something like that, considering that this current design already has pretty poor ergonomics compared to any other extant handgun on the market. The only reason to get one of these *is* because it is a working replica of Han Solo's blaster--not because it is actually a practical weapon compared to a Ruger Mk IV.
