Austin watched with you, John! You two both are my faves. Looking forward to seeing Raimi's take of Strange in the MCU. Side note: Petition for Raimi directing Spider-Man 4! Truly end his vision of Tobey's Spidey. Do it, Sony.
I was definitely overhyped for the movie, before watching this first impression, now I have a more realistic expectations, and I'll definitely enjoy the movie more.
@@jojosoni but mostly fans too. They kept hearing too much crazy rumors without any confirmation from Marvel, kept that in their expectations and turned out that it wasn't in the movie. Who to blame for that?? It's these rumors and fan theories that could destroy a hype for a movie
@@kill3rs529 Those first 2 Spiderman movies are my favorite! I ranked and reviewed all the Spiderman movies on my channel, not sure if you stopped by to check those out yet.
@@megamikethemovieman I feel that overall, Sam Raimi's are the best written and better directed live-action Spider-Man movies. There are things done better in the MUC Trilogy and Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man but Sam Raimi's are the best overall. Spider-Man 2 is the pinnacle.
This is why I never fully invest myself into rumors. Overhyping a movie can kill it. I’m just excited to see what they decide to do with the multiverse
And thats the point: even if you are not in into rumors you expect a decision what to do with the multiverse. The thing is they do not decide anything, after the movie I was standing there and thought „what did they wanna tell me with this one?“
I killed my fun doing that with Age of Ultron. Watched to many fan theories And completely ruined my experience watching it fresh. After that i learned to watch the trailers and not the trailer review or speculation video’s Ever since following those rules I started enjoying watching superhero movies fresh again.
I went in thinking it was gonna be disappointing and then it was complete trash so I guess I still over hyped it, but trash is trash, hopefully they never use that director again
*Thank you for realistic expectations* I’ve seen people just screaming and acting like it’s mindblowing - but they do that with every Marvel Movie that’s dropped.
I am A-OK with them not spending time with this film setting up other films. That is _not_ something I like my films to spend time doing. Just tell a good story.
I think these are the kind of reviews I needed just bcz the hype of this movie was too much and u can't expect endgame level shit from every movie, and these review just tones down the hype just a bit so we go in theatres with reasonable expectations and enjoy the movie rather than being dissapointed.
I get why they are saying the movie didn’t deliver on all of their expectations but they have to understand that the movie is much shorter than the really big Marvel movies. The movie is only 2 hrs and 6 minutes so that definitely isn’t enough time to cover all the big bases
Yea we haven’t had a good villain since thanos hopefully she can deliver. These movies interest me depending on how good a villain is when the villain poses a threat
Your sentiment is also what I have for Moon Knight as a series. A lot of the things happening in Moon Knight feel sort of like just a stepping stone to something in the future, and some development that could happen within the span of 1-2 episodes were artificially and unnecessarily stretched. The series itself and Oscar's performance were good per se, but it could have been more fleshed out or some reveals could be made earlier instead of thinning a single plot into a long sheet to fit into a season.
I honestly love moon knight & man maybe you got more knowledge then me on the character but mmmman that shit had me on the edge of my seat & then cry like a bitch 😂
I haven't read any spoilers (and I won't), so I don't know what will happen. But let's say it aloud: Multiverse of Madness won't set up the MCU X-Men in any way. I'm pretty sure the biggest expectation for many fans is seeing mutants finally becoming a thing via Wanda's meddling in the multiverse. But it's not the time nor the place. This is a Doctor Strange movie after all. I'm really looking forward to see Raimi's style all over it, especially the horror aspects.
I gotta say it was pretty cool watching young champia do a video about the first reactions of this movie and you popped up on his channel as the first I thought that was pretty sweet
The reason I donʻt like cameo hype culture, people expect the world from unverified leaks and rumors, and then when they get the movie the studio promised theyʻre disappointed that all the crazy theories didnʻt come to pass
I'm hanging to see this movie! Especially since we're talking about Sam "Evil Dead 2" Raimi! Great reviews guys, and thanks for not spoiling anything.👍🤘
Honestly this first reaction has me more hyped. I just wanted a wacky campy Sam Raimi Doctor Strange movie first and foremost and it sounds like we're getting exactly that. The rumors of endless cameos and set up made me considerably less interested so I'm glad that's not as big of a factor.
I thought the movie was great and a refreshing piece to the MCU as a whole. I am a person who tries extremely hard to go in with little to no expectations for ALL movies I head out to the theater for. Just wanted to add that. Finally, unsure if the two of you have worked together prior to this. I'd be shocked if not as the back and forth between you had a good flow and seemed very professional. Good job fellas!
When y'all said "Sam Raimi puts his stamp throughout this film" got me HYPED. I ADORE his filmmaking. I mean, that's the main reason on why I wanna watch it is for Raimi's filmmaking. Also for Wanda. Just because.
@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos no but this is just a Wanda movie with the DS name. Thor 4 will be the same when they turn him into a girl 😭 marvel doing there best to upset comic fans
Thanks for the head's up! I'll probably enjoy it much more knowing not to expect some big demon like nightmare/mephisto/chthon or Wanda saying a version of 'no more mutants' or some other crazy shit like that. I do hope to see a big Wanda vs Strange battle though. Kevin FIege and Sam did say that this movie would give a definitive answer as to who was more powerful of the two...
“i think the hype was too much for this one” man, that’s depressing to hear lmao. but at least my expectations are lowered so that i can actually balance my own opinions
Lessoned learned from Wanda Vision when evan peters quicksilver came. So much hype and loads of theories. And it was underwhelming. I did not see ANY THEORIES OR RUMORS OR ANYTHING. I'm just gonna watch the movie with low expectation and so should everyone else.
A lot of big name nerd content creators seem dissapointed, "underwhelmed," and confused. A lot of first reactions by creators with smaller channels seem more appreciative and understanding of the choices made in the film and more excited of what they just saw and what's to come from the MCU. Interesting.
Because the big youtubers made a bunch of vids on the behind the scenes so they got spoiled If they went in blind they would have had a better experience
Vaughn That’s because a lot of the big content creators were overhyping this movie wayyyyyyyyy too much with the potential cameos, storylines beginning to develop and all sorts of things. People were acting like this was Secret Wars when it wasn’t. It was still a Dr. Strange and Scarlet Witch movie, as it should’ve been. The Illuminati is more than enough cameos to help push the plot forward
I knew people were going to disappoint themselves just like wandavison. it's also all the RU-vid channels that speculate and have a new hyp video everyday. because of wandavison, I knew it wasn't going to be this insane thing.
Damn it’s awesome seeing a crossover between you and Austin! Would be awesome to see you guys do another video together! Glad to hear you enjoyed it and interested to see whether it subverts my expectations in a good way!
great review. i think the problem wit us fans is that we expected the whole concept of the multiverse to rest on this one movie, that this film is supposed to be the culmination of phase 4 when it's only just beginning. we also forgot that this is a DOCTOR STRANGE movie that pushes the multiverse narrative forword, not a MULTIVERSE movie that just happens to have doctor strange in the middle of it. though i haven't watched it yet, this film, to me, seems to present itself as a genesis to the multiverse saga while the movie and series prior were a build-up
I've been trying not to go down the rumor rabbit hole only seeing 3 trailers. After nwh I basically had the whole movie spoiled and tainted the first viewing (still my favorite MCU movie). You guys did a great job, I just wanted a vague review and that's what I got. Now I'm gonna turn my phone off till the weekend ✌️
I'm just going to say this, I was highly entertained by this movie and also surprised with the cameos. Of course we're all entitled to our own opinions and that's great, but because it's an MCU movie some are going in thinking their getting that Phase 3 or 4 MCU movie... be opened minded and have fun, don't sit there with a clipboard and analyze everything that didn't seem like an MCU movie... it's Phase 5.👍
I think it was a really good movie. Great direction. Very different. Cumberbatch and Olsen are great in this. Liked the young actor who has got a Rouge vibe to her.
Thank you for giving your honest opinion on these Marvel movies. 95% of RU-vid reviewers kiss Marvel’s asshole and are afraid of the repercussions of saying anything negative about a Marvel movie, so I appreciate some good old fashioned honest feedback for once. 🤘🤘🤘
Before watching this movie, like what John Campea said, "don't make your speculations turn into expectations" because it's not good for your movie experience". so I'm gonna watch it only for wanda's and strange's development.
Truly what they’re going to do with this multiversal movie , this is going to be quite amazing , I’ll have a realistic expression and I’ll definitely love it a lot more 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
After watchin NWH everyone was actually expecting things like that movies, which is why it's so hyped ig, that's why a good amount of fans gonna be disappointed maybe. So blame is on high expectations (created by various teasers and tv spot though). Marvel has kept their big shot plan for their upcoming projects.
