Ps forgive the next story... this first season was finding its feet and so the did a range of stories to suit a wide tastes to ensure good view figures and so some are aimed at younger audiences... like the next story...!

The great thing about this show is you never know what you get... sometimes REALLY sad (many youtubers cry) sometimes REALLY scary (you've not reached one of those yet), sometimes fun, sometimes loads of Action or war, sometimes mystery.... all very good!

12:00 A Happy Medium, is a reference to a compromise where both parties are happy, but in the scene he said it in a punny way, people who claim to be able to talk to the dead are referred to as mediums.

After only three episodes and your analyse about the Doctor is spot on. That deserves a classic Doctor Who joke: - Knock knock. - Who's there? - Doctor. - Doctor Who? - You got that right! Anyway, the first 2 episode's are the indeed better, I find this first series has 5 very decent episodes. Others are mediocre but still very much watchable, as is the second series. The third series has many more excellent episodes and the fourth is just a feast for every Whovian. And I do love series 5 and 6 and ... oh, I could continue but you'll just see for yourself. And at this rate, you will get there soon enough.

The trick with Drwho is that you need to listen for clues for future archs'. Best you pause the episode instead of constantly talking over it. You might miss out on something . Just FYI

A medium is a psychic who talks to the dead. Happy medium is also an expression. I never cared for the format used in the first few seasons/series of New Who: ep 1 contemporary, ep 2 future; ep 3 past. The Tardis's travel is supposed to be unpredictable: the Tardis has a huge say in the Doctor's destination! It never made sense to me it would suddenly become so predictable... BBC apparently thought that having a format was desirable. I wonder if I was the only Whovian who was glad when they gave that up?

See I really love this episode. I love when history is involved. My favorite episodes in this season are mixed with history. I think that's why Doctor who is so great it has something for everyone.

Thank you for this video. It just made my day 100 times better. I guess i just needed some Doctor... This episode.... Not one of my favorites. But it's kind of significant, because the actress that plays the maid also played one of the leading roles in DrWho spinoff "Torchwood".

Oh historicals, how I love them when done right. Actually back then during the early seasons of the show in the 60s, like seasons 1-4, Historicals were.. just that, there wasn't really any sci-fi elements other then The Doctor and The TARDIS, again this show was made originally to teach history and Science, and funny enough the pure historicals never felt boring, atleast to me. Granted a pure historical probably wouldn't work with how the revival show is formatted, plus the fact we live in a society now that either hates education, or loves to educate people hatefully.

Alright, so an episode like this one is called a historical, makes sense 🙂 I thought it was going to be a Christmas episode based on the beginning of the episode. I'm so clueless, was it Christmas or did they land on a different day then they thought?

@@reactingafool oh we aren't at Christmas yet, yeah the revival introduced Christmas Specials that happen after the end of each Series, so uh, don't skip them (although for some reason for series 11-13 they decided to switch to New Year's specials)

@@reactingafool Basically, at one point early on in the classic series, they made a historical story with the plot twist that it actually had a science fiction element... and then they never *stopped* doing that for the reminder of the show.

Actually they dropped pure historicals after 1966 because the viewing figured weren't good from them and iirc the first pseudo historical was 1974.

@@arkthegreenwolfx3627 Technically (and fans are like that :-) - the first christmas special was 1965 - but it was a one off for classic who - unfortunately it wasn't recorded - so its one we're unlikely ever to see..

Yes who likes to visit real historical figures and can have a little fun with it ... The consensus tends to be that eps 1 & 3 are good and 3 is some people's favourite with 2, 4,5 being a bit meh - but 6 is a big one! Btw the medium joke you missed is that a 'medium' is the term for someone that chairs the seance and the middle course - hence the pun.

Not really a request to change anything - just a "letting you know" in case you didn't already. This is generally referred to as "Series 1", "Series 2", etc. (British thing). That tiny difference doesn't matter for most shows of course but in the case of Doctor Who "Season" is used among fans to refer to the classic episodes (The 8 Doctors before this one). Not really going to cause confusion for anyone already watching the video, but might help your video with visibility in search results for people looking for "Doctor Who Series 1 Reaction" or something.

Defintley one of the weaker episodes of Series 1, great idea I just think execution could have been done better. The atmosphere of this episode was great and the supporting characters - particularly Gwyneth and Charles Dickens were great

It's better then i gave it credit for in the reaction, and i did like it, I think i mainly was just saying opinion wise i liked the first two episodes more. But yes gwyneth and charles dickens did a fantastic job!
