Summer has come early! Wait, or is it Christmas? First, our doctor changed. Then our companion is gone. Now Katrina introduces Paula to the Runaway Bride. Please enjoy the 3rd season's Christmas Special, titled, "The Runaway Bride".
This was the first episode where we saw the primary function of the Doctor's Companions: To keep him from becoming the bad guy. Donna was the only one who did so by slapping him very hard; but hey; it's her being her.
Donna was right.... he does need someone to stop him. Remember Nine with the Dalek? Rose stopped him...she helped the post time war doctor heal. But without someone like that...his dark side can come out
2:45 Fun Fact: When they filmed this in 2006, it was summer and in the middle of a heatwave. There were reports of the extras in the street sweating like mad under their big winter coats, trying to look like British winter haha. So Catherine was probably lucky to wear only a wedding dress. 😄
It always warm my heart, so so much, that Katrina gets emotional just as much, if not more, than Paula. There are a plethora of fantastic shows in our modern world but nothing like Doctor Who.
Beautiful reaction. I like this episode because first Donna is loud and annoying, but then later there are deeper and sadder moments. 13:25 That is sweet. First reaction channel ever where I have seen someone comforting sad reactors. :)
Absolutely love this episode! I loved everything about it except for what Lance did. The 1st time I saw Lance talk like that to Donna, I absolutely lost it. I know how she feels. Guys have done that to me too, and it's not fun.
Paula: "Women always running away from their families to go after the Doctor." Like you wouldn't?? And wouldn't Katrina do the same thing?? Remember, it is a TIME machine.
Who in their right mind (apart from Series 1 Mickey) would pass up an opportunity to see the universe? Also I would totally ask to see the meteor impact that killed the Dinosaurs. From the safety behind the TARDIS shields of cause.
Before he was the Doctor, David Tennant and Sarah Parish (Aracnoss) starred in a British show called Blackpool. Really good. Also am sure the place where Donna comes out of the TARDIS is the same place Rose runs into the TARDIS for the first time. The Segway corridor is used a lot in Who!
This episode was almost certainly filmed during the summer. Even we don't get a cold winter (e.g. 0 Celsius), it's never ever warm enough to hare around in a sleeveless dress!
I did actually mean the episode of Who, not your reactions. :) That said, it's already mid-spring now, so either you've been sitting on these for a year or you recorded them pretty recently!
You guys are great. I am honestly impressed with what a good host you are being for your friend, because you don't spoil too much or give her answers, but just allow her to watch, and provide occasional pertinent or helpful facts about the characters. I think Doctor Who can be a tough show to introduce to someone, and you both have such genuine affection for each other and the experience. Thank you for sharing some reactions here!
Good Reactions girls to what I thought was a good story. Donna was such a fun character you can't help but like her...and feel sorry for her. Katrina, did the Hospital say how long it would be before your head gets better? Sorry, couldn't resist it. Ha! Ha!
Was that the debut of a Gallifrey GUY?! Bless him for being as emotionally wrecked as the rest of us watching. Kat rocking the Scarlet Spider hoodie too! Peak 90s! I remember a lot of people thought Catherine Tate would just be comic relief when she was cast as Donna, but she carries a lot of emotional weight, even in this first appearance!
Hey Preda, it’s that “Gallifrey GUY”, welcome to the channel! 😁 I want you to say that this comment made my day and hope you have a good time exploring through all of our Doctor Who content. The Gallifrey Gals have quite a journey ahead of them! It’s great to meet you. ☺️
It’s true with the doctor and it’s why I adore the scene with him surrounded by fire and causing an entire species demise it shows that he isn’t perfect and has flaws like everyone else ... god I love this show so much.
I liked Donna! It seems a little soon to take a new companion less than a day after he said goodbye to Rose (even if he had time to prepare for it), but I was on board for her to be his next sidekick. The dynamic would have been way different than with Martha and Rose, who are similar. I took notice that the 10th Doctor says a lot that stuff is impossible. He seems less surprised or intrigued and more taken aback by some events. Again in this episode, about Huon particles. It might be why I heard somebody say that David Tennant is the most human of the Doctors.
7:20 Whoniverse lore: The universe used to be full of monsters. One of the good things the Time Lords did wqqhhen the universe was young was banish and/or slaughter all reality-warping _magic._ Racnoss, Great Vampires, Carrionites... Of course they then replaced all the monsters with humanoids, forcing the humanoid template on most other life with some sorcery of their own. Hypocrites.
I HATED this story the first time I watched it...it just felt too goofy. The second time,it was so refreshing to see a companion (albeit a temporary one) who not only didn't want to get all smoochy with the 10th Doctor, but who actually gave him a piece of her mind (repeatedly) that I found it entertaining - in a guilty sort of way. Btw, Katrina: how do you know all this trivia?? (Especially the banknotes!) Every time I watch these reactions,I learn something new from you :)
I can't help it! I'm chalk full of them! I've watched so much Classic Who over and over and have also done the same with New who! With that comes noticing little things and stock piling them in my brain. Years ago I was also gifted a Doctor Who kind of encyclopedia? I'm guilty of reading it quite a few times over 😅 (some of the smaller, silly facts I got were from reading IMDB facts years ago as well)!
After Rose, Donna's my favourite companion ❤ then it's Amy and Rory, then Martha and then the rest 😅 (i kind of stopped watching after Matt Smith 😅😅) i just didn't like Peter Capaldi and i tried to get back in to it with Jodi but it just didn't stick for me 😕 who knows maybe I'll stick with it all the way through this time with you guys 😀 ❤❤ XxXxX
What's 3x00. That's a non episode. It's actually 3x01. I.E the first episode of the series. Sorry, but I've seen other Americans doing this and thought it odd. Cheers. UK. 15/8/2022
@@FANTHEORYTV Lol. Yes I forgot you guys did it that weird way. 0 floor is technically the first floor, because it's the first floor. Lol. Oh, by the way, I meant no malice in my comment. It was merely an observation. Thanks for the quick reply. This is a first for me. Getting a reply/answere directly and right away from someone I have commented on. If that makes sense. ? I'll be honest, I didn't know that America had such fans as you girls. I'm glad. It's the oldest sci fi series ever on TV. Sorry, your direct and quick reply made me feel like I better say more than I should. Lol. Cheers. UK. 15/8/2022
@@FANTHEORYTV Ah, this reply came thru after, or as the second comment, even though it now shows it was your first reply. No matter. It was just a bit of banter All the best. It's good to know that there are fans over in the U.S. and who appreciate the writing along with the performances. The Doctor In the Tardis, come on, the possibilities are endless. Each writer gets to play with it, all while based on that basic Doctor who mould, oh and also they need to consider the previous lore. Glad you enjoy it. Cheers.
Having brutally lost Rose we get a whole episode with the pretty awful Donna. I do feel sorry for her at the end, but was frankly delighted when she turned the Doctor down. Oh well.
Cranky Grandma that was something I did like about her. I am unsure if it was Donna or Catherine Tate’s performance I disliked. Whichever, she just seemed to be angry and shouty as if she had no other emotional range. By the time we got a quieter more reflective Donna it was too late.
