Devon Sawa's acting is so iconic in this. I literally will never forget the way he makes the little spiral motions around his head with his fingers when he's having his a-ha moment, or the way he chews the gristly canned food with that cold hard look in his eyes. I SWOON
There's a reason why that owl popped up in his window like that. It's believed amongst several Native American tribes that owls represent an embodied spirit of the dead or associated with a spirit in some way. In some cases, the appearance of an owl, especially during the day, may be a harbinger of death.
They never explained or touched on it but it's implied that Clear is a psychic, a clairsentient (a psychic feeler or an empath) to be exact; she can feel and sense things whereas Alex (a seer) can see and predict things, a clairvoyant or precognitive. That's why Clear believed him, she felt his fear and energy that he was telling the truth. She has the gift of sensing/feeling things no one can understand but her. She also has a psi connection with him, whatever he feels, she feels it too. She used her sensing ability to track him on the beach or outside Todd's house when he died, or after when Teri got hit by the bus Alex drinks alka-seltzer, Clear does the same thing, knowing that he's sick to his stomach and she called to make sure he's ok, knowing well he's not and at the near end of the movie Clear sensed/felt incoming danger towards Alex when he almost got hit by a bus. Her name Clear is a pun on Clair, French word for Clear, as in clairvoyance or in her case clairsentience.
Also you were right it did shape a whole generation. A generation of people who 1.) Don't Drive Behind Log Trucks 2.) When someone panics and states to get off the ride, plane, etc YOU DO IT! 😅
This is my favorite of the bunch still. It's just so moody and dour (and paranoid! as is the series' way). Devon Sawa sunk into that chair, teary-eyed and traumatized. He really ate up that role.
This was originally suppose to be an X Files Episode. But they liked it so much they decided to turn it into a film. Director James Wong also directed and wrote many X Files Episodes.
the first movie is really the best one like you said, two and three hold a special place in my heart. But the premise and execution holds up so well 23 years later!
The original version of this film had a much larger love storyline arc with clear and Alex but apparently test audiences hated it so the studio made them change the whole ending and take out almost every scene that referred to them being a couple after the accident. The original ending had Alex die in the electrocution and fast forwarded to a year later with clear having Alex’s baby.
Another great reaction Alanda! The final destination franchise is under appreciated in my opinion, some movies are better than others but the creative deaths always kept you on your toes, I can’t wait to see you react to the rest
The fourth one felt straight to video still fun but I cannot wait for the new one coming out next year a tattoo piercing death sequence has been teased by the creators I may not ever get a tattoo ever again lmao
If you ever want to watch another Devon Sawa horror film, then I recommend watching the film ‘Idle Hands’! It’s about a stoner teen who gets his hand possessed by a demon and hilarity ensues. It also stars Jessica Alba and Vivica Fox!
I absolutely love this franchise. Fun fact: the song that plays in the airport bathroom with Alex and Tod in the beginning and when the teacher dies, is called Rocky Mountain High sung by John Denver, who died by a plane crash. Perfect hidden thing in this movie.
your reactions are everything 😭 if you haven't reacted to it, i recommend The Descent! it's a horror film about these group of women getting trapped in a cave & it's overall a great watch
That's a great movie but I don't think it's gonna happen... She said in another reaction (I think it was Texas Chainsaw Massacre) that The Descent scarred her because she doesn't like depraved realism.
One of my favorite concepts of any franchise in the 2000s. The villain as Death itself. Everybody trying to defy it like they can. These different kills are so creative. Gruesome, yet creative. I've only seen the first 3 films. There are 2 different series of literature (novels & comics). I read the comic series, Final Destination:Spring Break from 2007. One true thing to take away from this, fate is unavoidable and you just gotta learn to accept it.
This franchise oh my god. Literally destroyed me as a youth. I was already such an anxious kid but seeing this and the sequels just unlocked so many new fears for me. 🥴 It's done so well and really villainizes death in such a unique and sinister way. 10/10 the second one is probably my favorite.
They are in the production stages finally on a sixth movie. One of the producers teased a tattoo parlor/piercing death scene. But yes one of my favorite things about these movies is how elaborate death is. Just when you figure oh I've seen it all Death breaks out some crazy Domino effect catching you way offguard. I think you have to continue the rewatch.
I love this movie! And I love your reviews! The first time I ever saw this movie was on a plane, flying to France, on a school trip... I'm not even joking! My older brother thought it would be hilarious to load it for me to watch on the plane. Have you ever seen the original version/ deleted scenes of this movie, they cut out a bunch of Alex and Clear's relationship and changed the entire ending like twice. That's why she calls him 'baby' and they seem super coupley towards the end.
Honestly one of my favorite franchise. That and Evil Dead. The deaths are just so over the top and creative that it kinda just becomes a comedy to me. It just seems like Death is just having the most fun theyve had in a millennia. I would love, love, love, for you to react to the rest. Personally i think the 2nd one, the one with the wood logs scene is the best, simply because it had the most impact on me and a GENERATION lol. Love this reaction as always and I love you 💙
This was so much fun. I love these movies. Devon Sawa was definitely the reason I watched the first one, but it was such a fun ride that I had to watch the next two. Still haven’t seen 4 or 5 because I’ve heard not so great things about 4. But if you go through them all I’ll definitely finally watch it just to watch your video. And let me just say the hold Devon Sawa had on me as a small child in the nineties was real. It all started with Casper, then I watched everything I could find that this man was in back then. Little Giants, Now & Then which paired him with Christina Ricci again. And there was some movie about hunting for gold or something to do with the wilderness. I don’t know. I think it had Jonathan Taylor Thomas in it too. I remember watching all of those on repeat as a kid.
Oh yes, thank you for coming through. It's definitely been a week that's kicked me in the shins, and it sounds like I'm not alone. May the the universe be more gentle for all who need it 💜
My job is laying off people for a few days. I was spared, but hours are reduced. I have enough money saved up though, so maybe I'll be alright for a while. I hate to see some of my coworkers leave though. These are trying times.
Yoooo pre 911 flying was the best! 15 minutes through security and you're on the plane! Miss those days, in many ways. Plus i was 18, to be back then again would be great!
When you said your idea of how death will arrive was shaped by these movies.. I FELT THAT. The first time I saw this as a kid, I was legit bawling by the end and when my grandma asked what was wrong, I told her it truly hit me that I’ll die someday it and there’s a chance it won’t be pleasant 😭😭 I was SHOOK
Alanda I love your videos and your energy. You are one of my favorite react channels on RU-vid. Thanks for always bringing us entertaining videos and always having a positive message in the intros.❤😊
Ah... the series that makes us mortals be afraid of EVERYTHING. Ironic part is that wild shit like this does happen in real life and that's kind of fucked up lol. With that being said, it does tends to ask some interesting questions. Its like no matter what choice you made, you're still kind of being screwed in the end. Not escaping death and being fearful of everything is a scary concept.
Alanda, you are a TREASURE! I love your reactions. They always bring me so much joy and so many giggles. Thank you for all you do for us! This franchise is iconic and I KNOW you'll have a good time.
The scene where the teacher stands up and it looks like the stained glass sword behind her is s-tabbing her is such beautiful foreshadowing. The first Final Destination movie is my favorite because of little scenes like that and the kills feel, for lack of a better term, more natural or maybe more believable like a "this legit crazy thing that you never thought could happen happened" story.
Watched all five with a friend a few weeks ago, what great timing! This was definitely one of those horror franchises that was very ingrained in my brain as a child because of pop culture and how impactful it was, but I never actually watched any of them in full until recently. Really fun, creative franchise overall. 4 is a mess, 5 is one of the best and I think you'd really gag, 3 is my favorite easily because of Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Thanks for another amazing video, can't wait to see what's coming next week! Some horrors that I've seen recently that I can't wait for you to get to eventually: Lights Out, It Follows, Hell Fest, and Drag Me To Hell.
haven't even started and I'm hype, this and Saw are some of my favorite franchises. Even when they get a little weaker towards the end there's still undeniably cool aspects to those stories. Cuz there's parts towards the end there that are just kindof iconic
You bring sooooo much joy to every video no matter how dark-sided things might be. I think we can all agree the 2nd movie shaped how everyone drives on the road though. But actually though, I totally do the thing with the luggage tag, always keep it on until the next flight.
Hey Alanda I know this isn’t necessarily about this reaction but I just want you to know that your intros always make me feel so safe and welcome ❤ it’s just so sweet and I really appreciate it every video
Hilarious! Please do all Final Destination movies! Personally it’s my second favourite to Scream. Apparently the writers of 5th and 6th Scream wrote the 6th FD which should come out soon.
Alanda- just so you know- you bring so much joy to my week with your uploads! Also, I had many a jr high crush influenced by the fact that they looked like Devon Sawa in Casper!
Interesting piece of trivia surrounding this film. Final Destination was originally written as an X-Files episode, but became a movie and spawned an amazing franchise of sequels. Just as The Shawshank Redemption was just a small Stephen King short story that became perhaps the greatest cult film of all time. The story of this film is of course just like something out of the X-Files.
Please do the series! I love two and three! Four absolutely gets the side eye, but they bring the franchise back around in five, which I’d love to see you react to for the first time! Loved this!
I’m so ready for her to get traumatized from every little thing in her house and the outside world when she just got a taste of what death will use to kill a person and the kills get better/creative from here.
So excited for you reacting this franchise! Original first is classic. But really like the FD3, didn’t mind FD5 and some of FD2. Can’t wait for FD6 coming in the future.
Yesssss let's do it Also fun fact... How I learned about rubber and lightning is from the movie "Daylight". One of my all time favorite movies... Cuz I love me a disaster movie... But there is a live wire threatening them, and she says "its lightning, what do you do? You hide under a tree? No stupid... You, get back in the car.... Because tires.... Are rubber." ugh best scene...
so happy for this reaction/franchise to finally hit the channel!! You look lovely per usual. I know you have tons of movies on your schedule but I definitely recommend The Shallows!! you’re becoming a full fledged horror girly right before our eyes
devon sawa plays 3 different roles in the chucky show😂 the main character’s dad, the main character’s uncle(which means they’re twins) & a priest in season 2.. they just can’t let go of devon LMAO
I'm glad she took a break with Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street but she got a lot more to go with the FD franchise as well so keep hope alive.😂
Ohhhh I'm super excited and happy u decided to do this franchise because whether it's a great one or blah each one of these movies in Franchise is extremely entertaining so thank u so much for this👏
THE SCREAM I JUST SCUMPT ❤ Now this is a franchise that I’m excited for you to revisit! This movie? The first and the second one made me burst into tears, multiple times as a child! Shook to the core 😭
Oh hell yeah!! These films give me sooooo much anxiety... So I do not watch them often. Fun Fact: Alex was supposed to die saving Clear. But they rewrote it when people were upset he died...
Highly recommend the 2018 movie "Climax" by Gaspar Noe. It's a dance-themed psychological horror and it's been one of my recent faves. 😅 It is a bit traumatizing, though. 😬
This was so GREAT! I don't know if I love watching things you''ve watched already or never seen before. The 90's and early 00's was such a great time for cheesy horror with crazy tropes and rock music that just creates a specific mood that is so nostalgic, I love it!
For the record, it's the metal on the exterior of the car that keeps you safe from electric shock outside a car. It essentially acts as a Faraday cage.
Thank you Jesus for the gift of life and prosperity. The success behind every rich person today is the decision they made for themselves, I'm so happy I'm able to acquire my second house in January even as single mom at 41 and I believe if things keep going well I would retire early, All thanks to Mrs Helena, I really appreciate.
I have also been trading with her, The profits are secured and over a 80% return on investment directly sent to your wallet. I made up to $70,560 in 2months trading with her.
Yeah. I heard of Mrs Helena Paul sometime ago but it was on a different platform, not here on RU-vid. How do I contact her too? I want to invest with her
I was hype when you saw hereditary cause that and the witch are my recent favs, but final destination 2 is my fave early 00's horror. Alanda, u will enjoy these so much! I'm with you things been really goofy this month.
You mentioned that they didn't get to kiss. In the alternate version with deleted scenes, they sleep together on the beach and she gets pregnant and has their son at the end. In the alternate version, it's him who dies and she and Carter both live.
