Alicia had a diagnosis at the doctor's office that wasn't very good, she said. But she wouldn't "get into" what it was. It makes me so mad how she spills all the kids personal info and medical issues, and behavioral problems, but when it comes to anything personal about herself, or even Josh, she's completely quiet about it. That really pissed me off. 😡

I live in the states and we had many periods of food shortages. When the shutdown was first announced I went grocery shopping and everything was gone except gross stuff nobody wanted like canned sardines. I remember calling my mom to tell her it felt like the apocalypse. There was also many limits during the shutdown and afterwards on food like meats, breads, paper towels and toilet paper. I would bet my left nut a good portion of what she has is expired since she doesn't rotate her food or plan. She just hoards crap every week. Here's how you help kids who have food insecurity-- help them become part of the process of buying, storing, and cooking food. Have them help make a balanced meal plan (with a few treats added in), let them "shop" the pantry/freezers first, then make a grocery list together. Take them to the store and help them choose the best value for each item on the list, then they can help put everything away, rotating oldest to the front. Then let them help cook, while talking about appropriate portion sizes, and how to make leftovers into lunches or parts of other meals. That's how you calm food insecurity-- with education and reassurance. It'll take time and patience, nothing will change overnight, but it'll be worth it, and the kids will appreciate it later on.

@@cerysgriffiths8841 I think with eating disorders it's very different than food insecurity. I have anorexia and I feel like I actually have the opposite problem- there is plenty of food around me, and I never doubt that I'll have food, but I can't eat it! Whereas with food insecurity, kids aren't confident or able to trust in the fact that they will have food available at any given time, which can cause binge eating and hoarding. So for kids with food insecurity trauma, the most important thing is to get them involved in the whole process of buying and preparing food frequently so that they slowly realize and become secure in the fact that there will never not be food for them.

We did have a lot of limits imposed during COVID here in NY, a lot of the stores did have a "2 packages of meat" and things like that. Luckily, we didn't see too much of an issue with food shortages in my city (Philadelphia) to the same degree as NY. You guys know you can just go back in right? Send your husband half an hour later? It's not actually that dramatic. Where I live, whenever there's a sale on something there's usually a limit to prevent people from hoarding the sale items and when I was little my mom would just go in the morning and then go again late at night when there was a new shift, or send me or my dad back. It's not like they check your ID to see where you live.

Obviously. But if you had 12 to feed it'd be different. Like I said if not prepared. We have a cow freezer, pig freezer, chicken freezer, misc freezer. We didn't need the stuff but I saw the post stock and notes saying only this many for people. Paper towels and toilet paper were always nearly out except for at Target for awhile there as they limited supplies. Also sanitizers and cleaners were nearly always out. I find the average person very simple minded and easily manipulated after watching people lose their common sense during the "pandemic". The flu disappeared yall. I remember looking for empty shampoo bottles under the bathroom sink to rinse out with water to try and wash my hair with… I never run out of anything. I have back ups for my back up items. I still don’t hoard food though. I just keep track when I open something I will buy ONE to replace it. She’s in a whole different level. Our stores would only allow 1 loaf of bread, 1 dozen eggs, and so on. Also, trucks would come every day to deliver food, but would stock up different parts of the store. One day the bread was stocked and the eggs were empty, the next day eggs, but no bread. There were tons of shelves empty. She isn’t making that part up. This was the same way in Souther California. Limits on everything if it was available. No peanutbutter, meats, chicken, milk, flour, sugar, Oats. You name it. No pasta, even the local butcher was closing early everyday due to running out of meat. It was scary to think that we live in an earthquake prone area a here people should have extra food and obviously no one had it to fall back on. Hope things are getting better for you. Here we are still short on pet food.

My question is what is going to happen when these kids leave home and cannot afford to buy a giant abundance of food with their average pay checks? Instead of getting them therapy to help cope with their food insecurities, she feeds into it. Josh and Alicia are doing absolutely nothing to help these kids... it’s heartbreaking. Imagine the panic they will feel when they’re adults, and can’t hoard food themselves.

I live in the states. In the very very beginning of the pandemic, like when everyone started to realize it was happening. Yes, shelves were wiped out. It was happening daily for 2 weeks. Hence the limit on grocery items. I remember my boyfriend and I both going grocery shopping because we had to shop for our home and for my grandmother. It was hell. I do not miss that time period.

Family of 8. I was oldest child. I learned to cook from my grandma and spent so much time prepping and making sure the food was delicious and that everyone would love it. We were poor and never knew it because we made stuff from scratch and planted a garden. Potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers and.yellow squash. We ate really well to have very little money to. This is such a sad situation for this family here. The kids know that there is no effort here.also there were some food limits during the pandemic but it was very few and far between. Not that much limiting. Sad she uses this as an excuse.

I recall only 4 canned goods & 1 pack of meat per visit. But even with the limits most of the food was gone. Most people in my city went shopping when the stores opened in the morning with the hope they could find a bigger supply. Then the stores only allowed senior citizens to come during the first 2 hours of opening. I remember my son & I stocked up on beams & rice out of fear there would be nothing left. It was really bad
