I've always seen Edward VIII's abdication as a blessing. He would have been a disaster if he'd been king during WWII. Wallis did Britain a favor by removing him from the throne.

Markle said she wanted to be the next Princess Diana, but instead she became the next Wallis Simpson. Markle will never be like Princess Diana. With all her faults, Diana cared about other people. Markle only cares about herself.

There’s a rumour Wallis was always in love with her ex husband too. She never really loved Edward but felt obliged to stay with him because of the gravity of the situation.

You are spot on Dr. Grande. There is no better way to compare MM but to no other than Wallis. Thank you for digging farther into historical archives and shedding light on the infamous lives of Wallis and Edward. You made such an intelligible comparison on Wallis and MM as opposed to the mainstream media comparing a striking parallel between MM and Princess Diana which is utterly appalling.

The major difference between The Windsors and The Sussex's is that Edward essentially trapped Wallis into marrying him. She begged him not to abdicate, and when he did she only married him out of guilt.

Edward was an awful person, so also was Wallis. Wallis, though, for all her faults, never behaved as badly and disrespectfully, as that dreadful Duchess of Sussex woman is behaving now.

This was really interesting. I agree he never wanted the responsibility/role as King. Edward would reveal himself to be a awful person with abhorrent views. I can’t imagine how having him as The King would have been a benefit to the UK.

Samantha did not sue meghan because of the claim of being an only child, but for defaming Samantha’s character. Meghan also has a half brother, Thomas Jr.

Wallis Simpson tried to get out of marrying Edward but things had gone too far and she felt she had no choice. MM enticed Harry by invoking similarities with his mother and acting like she was keen to be part of the RF.both married weaker men.

While I was staying up late into the morning again last night, I decided to read about the Duke and a Duchess of Windsor again, thinking of how Meghan and Prince Harry reminded me of them. Interesting little known fact about her that I learned from Lady C. Wallis’ first husband was abusive. When she informed her rich uncle that she wanted to divorce him, he told her that if she divorced him, he would disinherit her. She divorced her husband and 6 months later, her uncle died leaving her nothing.

Oooo this was a good video (as always). Meghan isn’t even up to par with Wallis…Meghan is so out of touch with modern womanhood. I am a wife, I work full time, have 2 kids and take college courses, so to hear her making so much money off of the drivel she calls a podcast is off putting. She’s not ambitious, she’s just a fairly attractive woman who social climbed with much success.

The one thing these couples have in common is absolutely no one feels sorry for them.

Meagan is basically a modern Wallace and yet still somehow less likeable than Wallace 😂 As doc Grande says, Wallace was actually very intelligent and never played the victim rather she was insightful and kept a low profile (read, wasn't seeking fame like Meagan).

Just one point. The royal family didn,t force out Edward and Wallis, the church and government did. Being king was the last thing the queens` dad wanted. The royal family didn,t force out Harry and Meghan, they did it themselves.

Wallace's uncle was the President of the Seaboard Airline railroad company and made his winter home in Palm Beach available to Wallace and her husband. The railroad planned to build a number of swank hotels along its route to attract day travelers (much like the Harvey Houses along the old Santa Fe railroad) who could deboard the train in the evening and resume their travels the next day. One of these still exists in Indiantown, Florida and is operated as the Seminole Inn. The ex-King and Wallace, accompanied by Wallace's uncle, frequently visited at that hotel when in Florida, and went on hunting trips in the rural area. It's alleged that they were always tailed by the FBI as Hoover was of the belief that the ex-King was a German spy.

The other difference is Harry is not the future king.

If I were an obnoxious freak of relative renown, I would be really worried to have Dr Grande tell me his ideas about me. He is so good at what he does! 👀😳

Interesting thoughts. One of the main stumbling blocks to her marriage to Edward VIII and becoming Queen for Wallis was the fact that she was divorced. The King was Head of the Church of England and at the time it was unthinkable that the Queen would be a divorcee. Meghan was very fortunate to be married at Windsor. Princess Anne (as a divorcee) was married in Scotland where the rules were different. I think you are right…Meghan has no idea how privileged she was and how rules were relaxed for them

Don’t forget Meghan’s half-brother: Thomas Markle Jr. I heard an interview of him where he said he was preparing a documentary of his own, with all sorts of videos of Meghan, to prove she DID grow up with a dad and siblings in her life.

I'd be interested in you analysing the men - Edward and Harry. I believe they both wanted to be free of the Royal Family's constraints, whilst not being completely able to give up its privileges - and, frankly, being weak, institutionalised individuals, lacking in the intelligence or fortitude to go their own way. I think they have both consciencly or sub-consciencly chosen partners who would dominate them and do the break away job for them. However, marrying someone for the spurious reasons does not a happy life make - as is being played out now with the Sussexes, and was played out in the past with the Windsors. I think the main characteristic of them both is lack of intelligence, personal weakness and lack of control over their destinies, leading them to go down the metaphorical Molotov cocktail route in their marriages rather than work things out from within. Harry knows what the British press is like, he would have known they would be on the look out for any reason to splash him and his bride all over the front pages for negative reasons. I'm not surprised the Windsors courted Hitler. He would have dismantled the Royal Family and all its courtiers (much like the civil service in Parliament, these anonymous, grey men are probably the real power in the monarchy) installed the Windsors as monarchs, and the latter would have believed they could then have complete control over a re-vamped institution. They'd have been wrong of course, they would just have been pawns in the games of a different set of grey men.

I feel sorry 😞 for Wallus. Imagine living the last six years of your life without a single visitor. So sad. Harry and Edward both seem extremely immature.

They were all four of them dreadful people. I give credit to Mrs Simpson for sparing us what would have been the debacle of King Edward VIII. In contrast, Harry functioned well as a second son. I can forgive them anything except slandering Prince Charles while simultaeously complaining that he was not throwing money at them. And when he has a $40m inheritance. And when they live in a palace in California. Complaining that they do not want to be royal anymore is all very well but you have to stop living like a royal if it is not in your price range!

Several things you left out, probably because constraints of time. Edward gave Wallis jewelry which the Royal family considered to be owned by the Crown. On a visit to as country house in England, Wallis ' jewelry was stolen. Many thought the royals were getting their property back. Ernest Simpson was married at the time he took up with Wallis. He was complicit in the divorce from Wallis. He stayed in a seaside hotel with a woman who called herself "Buttercup Kennedy.". The staff of the hotel testified on Wallis' behalf that they were seen in bed together. "Buttercup," is thought to be Mary Kirk Raffray ( Of the Kirk silver company) who was a classmate of Wallis' at Oldfield school. She became Ernest's third wife. There is actually much, much more of interest.

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor went to France and had dinner with the Windsors a few times, Richard said Wallis was one of most vulgar women he had ever met. I saw this on a documentary about the Windsors.

My understanding from what I have read or watched documentary of Wallis was, she was willing to be the mistress, with all the privileges and trimmings for being a royal mistress. It was Edward that couldn't bear the thought of not making her his Queen.

It’s always amazed me that Harry never seems to have learned anything from his own family history, and I don’t mean Diana. No, his great grand uncle (I think I got that right) David, the former Edward VIII. David was exiled from Great Britain once he abdicated, which he was quite surprised about as he thought he would be welcomed as a senior advisor to his brother the King. Now Harry has effectively exiled himself with his criticism of his family. I wonder how Harry will view his life 10-20 years from now when he is as isolated and rootless as his great uncle. Another sad footnote to history.

Putting aside the personality and characters of Edward and Wallis, Dr Grande didn't make clear: 1) Edward was very likely sexually, and definitely was physically, abused as a very young child. 2) Edward did not want to maintain Wallis as a mistress. He was, in his way, completely devoted to her, and, even in prior relationships, was "settled down" - he wanted a marriage. 3) yes, it's true that Edward basically manipulated Wallis to a point where she would have utterly humiliated him in the eyes of the whole world if she didn't end up marrying him. She did NOT want to be Queen. She would have been happy as mistress & she didn't believe, or push, that she should marry "the King"- her letters to her aunt and to Ernest Simpson pre-divorce, prove this. 4) they WANTED to live in England postwar. They wanted royal work - appearances & so on. It was the old royal family that kept their resentment of the abdication at high boil, and would not allow this. Yes, living in France was both rent & tax free. They were both somewhat pennypinching, so the fact that the French govt offered this, wasn't turned down- and who wouldn't live rent & tax free if it's *offered*. 5) finally - everyone forgets in the rush to escervate Wallis, but she did Great Britain a *massive* favor by being "the woman he loved" and abdicated for. They were most certainly flawed people, but if you look into their lives (I mean really read, and more than a Wikipedia page) you will find that their childhoods scarred them both deeply. Edward, from abuse and horrible parenting; Wallis, from a lack of money and security from the instant her father died. (And her first marriage was also abusive.)

As an ancient Brit, I can tell you that Wallis was despised mainly because she was American, partly because she was divorced, and partly because of her personality and vain ambition. She was also the FIRST. Trust me, the best thing Edward ever did for Britain was abdicate because Elizabeth ascended to the throne and she has maintained old values such as service to the country. This was apparent during the Blitz in WWII. Elizabeth stayed in London. Can you imagine this dysfunctional and self-serving couple doing anything like that? 🤔

Thank you for this comparison. Although Wallis Simpson lived in a different era, she, in my opinion, was of higher character than Meghan Markle. Wallis Simpson did not disparage the Royal Family who did not accept her until the Duke passed away. Meghan Markle used people for her publicity. When she was finished with them, she moved on to someone else. Her conquest of Prince Harry and becoming a working Royal was her highest point. She could not adapt, disrespected the Queen and much more. She went to Canada and then to California. Her antics and words, vitriol towards the Monarchy, aggressive behavior, grifting money caused her not to be liked or employed. She has been called a Psychopathic Narcissist.

Ah, Dr. Grande. I’m pleased to say I’ve developed the habit of watching your latest video while I have my breakfast and, during these warmer months I like to eat outside when possible. But, I’m afraid, this has become a disruptive practice in the eyes of my neighbors because it is inevitable that I will burst out laughing at some point during your presentation which can probably be heard several houses away-especially during these Meghan Markle ‘speculations’. Thank you Dr. Grande for covering Wallis and MEghan. They seem to have a little common denominator as to how they got their status. Her secret letters shared how miserable she was even if she’s married to PH uncle. History seems to be repeating itself as we speak. Both women are amazing yet their personal ambitions clouded their choices and made wrong judgments. Meghan seem to follow suit as we can follow the trail of shenanigans according to Tom Bower’s book and other lies that are getting longer as we speak, allegedly. She’s older than Harry and more experienced in the field. Her lavish wardrobe, jewelry and jet set travels can be seen since they started dating. It’s uncanny. She’s so lucky to have the resources and platform to make a positive impact around the world yet she’s sabotaging everything by talking crap against the RF, her in-laws and her husband’s family. Look at how she treated her own family? Anyway, both couples may have a good façade yet behind the scenes might be a different story. I haven’t seen Harry happy or be his goofy self since they got married. Wishing them all the best and wish their children a healthy, happy life (not sure since they have parents who are busy with more drama and dysfunction) instead of resolving their family conflict without the mainstream media talking about it.

Not quite right. Wallis suffered mostly due to her own decisions. Okay, Edward threatened to delete himself when she tried to break it off, but this was at the point when abdication was on the horizon, and no likelihood of her becoming queen. Wallis continued to write to Simpson, her 2nd ex, for 2 years after her marriage to Edward. The letters were found a few years back. In them, she mildly mocks Edward, and plans to abscond to Paris to buy a hat. Her excuse to Edward, so that she can get away permanently from him, but it was too late as he had put a security detail (or some such) on her, and moved her out of London. She mostly laments though how perfect her union with Simpson was, but the opportunity to be queen outweighed her decisions at the time of choosing between the two men. Edward also died alone save medical staff. Apparently, she refused to visit him when he became bedridden. I would suggest that she only tolerated him in his neediness, never loved.
