7 here! Been through the whole not avoiding pain thing. I talked to a therapist and have started meditating to bring out emotion!!! Look into that - it's very helpful! Besides that, I force myself to spend time in my own head. Some days I have spend ten hours just thinking and that has really helped me to get to the bottom of who I am and why I am having the negative feelings I am experiencing. It was hard at first, but now I kind of enjoy spending time in my own head. I'm an extrovert, but I have nutured my introverted side to gain access to emotions. Hope that helped a little:)

Yes! especially when when "trapped" at a beach in india. Having a pineapple juice in one hand while the other is hitting the drum can get boring after a while. But then there is walks along the beach playing ukulele.. so far i'm doing alright.

I’m a 70 year old 7 and an ENFP. Thanks to my faith and efforts to slow down and listen I no longer am “hyper” about all the things. However, I still struggle with grief (blocking it out), and pain avoidance. You definitely nailed an unhealthy 7 (and even a semi-healthy one).

when you said they use optimism to cover up pain, it hit me hard. We love using humor and optimism as a coping mechanism ahahha!! anyway so i legit thought i was a type 5w6 for a couple years and I was an INFP for 3 years and I just retook the tests (multiple times yesterday) and I am actually now a type 7w6 and ENFP! what??? anyway this quarantine has me going nuts. I LOVE sevens and seem to gravitate right to them. I had a 7 roommate in my 20's and we had allll the fun getting into fun misadventures hwich we still laugh about now. I am a 9, so I just followed her lead, and was happy listening to her crazy stories. If I could be any other number, I would be a 7.

I have a 9 friend too and we get along very very well!! She's a core 9 and would just go with everything i said, i always felt a bit horrible for her because im the one who talk all the time. one time i tried to push her to express herself but she seemed to struggle with it. fyi, she's a 9w1. i guess it's just that she wasnt used to be the one domeenering but she definitely has improved now and more comfortable in expressing herself. you 9s are surely fun to hangout with!!

I'm a 7 but this is completely one-dimensional. Sure, I'm sure I can be like that when I'm happy and want to share with anyone who will listen, but generally life has deflated much of that in my mid 40s and I'm a lot more neutral & even cautious in the way I come across. This makes 7's seem extremely flighty and surface-y. Not at all the case with most 7's who add depth, intellect and intuition to making the world of possibilities come to life. That said, I still love your content, energy, "stage presence" and have recently subscribed. I'm in a relationship with a 2 and those videos have really helped me understand him so thx:)

Kristin Hanson Can’t agree more with this. It makes all 7’s seem surface and flighty. However, people live in varying degrees of these habits. Some are high and others are lower. Most 7’s I know have incredible depth, intellect and intuition and definitely love the change of activity and adventure, yet are deep and insightful.

My dad is a 7w8, when he was younger he was super reckless got into fights and liked the adrenaline, he’d do impulsive things all the time and is very much my sister kind of 7 (though thinking she may be an 8- defo an ESTP) but now he’s matured a lot and slowed down, he has his hobbies he’s settled on after trying mostly everything, it was mostly becoming a dad I think, he’s so much more cautious now but what makes him a 7 is his positivity, his desire to be chill and happy and to help everyone else get through hard times. I’m also a 7 and get that from him- we are also both ENFP’s

I'm the same noticed alot of cues people sent me mostly losing friends growing up due to headstrong and blabbering nature. I Still have enthusiasm but with plenty introspection I've learned when to avoid expressing myself in most situations. Also my interests aren't mainstream by any means so that alone Anoys plenty of individuals.

Uncommon fact: Us 7's aren't by nature afraid of negative feelings. We often deal with them head-on (We're in the aggressive stance meaning face situations/problems directly) Our weakness is gluttony, so we just believe a lie if I had more good things that will fix negative emotions. We're not running away from them because we're scared of them. We're trying to fix them the wrong way! Sidenote: What we're really afraid of (like she said) is boredom. We live for experiences (that's the gluttony). If you see a 7 suddenly become moody, they probably are just bored or feel stagnant in life. We'll blow up negative emotions when we're bord just so we can feel some kind of experience. Which shows my first point. We're not actually afraid of negative emotions.

OMG, I'm a 7 and I TOTALLY do #6 when my boyfriend is driving!! People always picture Sevens as the funny and enthusiastic ones, but they often forget to mention how we can be super annoying at times!! At least it's good to know it's not just me... ;P So thank you!! :)

I'm a 7. During hard lockdown (In South Africa) one night at around 3am my anxiety got so bad I was contemplating getting up, driving cross country and getting locked up (it was illegal to cross the provincial borders). I had this whole thing figured out - how fun jail would have been and how good the change of scenery would have been for me. Thank goodness for good friends and family.

You can't really determine the whole personality of someone at that age. Kids are normally adventurous and playful so basically they'll be stereotyped as a 7. When I was a kid I was very playful and very move-y like I get bored most of the time, same with my best friend. Our community talks about the Enneagram sometimes and began labeling the children that live in our community. Me and my best friend were labeled as 7s through our whole childhood. Now I'm 24 yrs old I'm a type 5 and my best friend is a type 4. I think it's better to wait and see what their personality actually is and not rushing it at this time.

As a 7 I feel like an extroverted introvert, so quarantine hasn't been horrible. I've always known I hate being bored, but being home all the time I can do all those things I enjoy doing, so in the end I'm not bored. When traveling I definitely jam pack my schedule as to not miss anything, I want to see all that I can. I'd rather take control driving with other people so I'll volunteer to drive. At home watching tv I'm usually up and down trough the show.

#2 is spot on. I hurt my foot in the last 24 hours of our trip to Italy and told my husband I’d hobble around Rome if he could find me crutches. He found one crutch and I used it to spend our last day seeing the Colloseum, Roman Forum, Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. When we got to the airport, they wouldn’t let me get on the plane and instead sent me to an Italian hospital where i found out my foot was broken and later in the US they found part of my ankle bone was chipped off. But the thought of missing Rome (and my 7 husband missing it too) would have been more painful.

Type 7: getting very excited about ideas or plans (they will never actually put in reality). Me type 9: Listening deeply, getting super invested, going with their flow and idea, even thinking about it in my bed. Next time I meat up with the 7: the whole plan already changed, even turns out it never was a real plan and they just loved fantasizing about it. Me as type 9: Oh my god I wasted so much of my precious energy on this🤨😂

haha I can totally relate to many of these (I'm a 7w8) However, one of the things I "seven-style" geek out on is emotional intelligence and have been able to used that to help me open up to deep diving into understanding emotions and feelings, however now I can chalk up every emotion to the science to why it's happening.

As a 7 sometimes parodies make us too 'up', but this was rather spot on. I get excited over the tiniest things. I resent it when friends don't want to drive across the mountains and have a fun day in Seattle, because 'I need to see the water today and go to better restaurants,' but they are worried about the snow storm. Then I'm stuck at home and have to find a different way to occupy myself that involves responsibility. The gluttony issue is right on, I hate to feel like I'm missing out. Self-talk, 'I'm going on a diet tomorrow so this is my last day to get a croissant.' But then tomorrow comes and it's my last day to get an Egg McMuffin with extra cheese, and the next day, it's a brownie, and the next day it's a chocolate chip cookie. At one point I wondered if I had ADHD because I couldn't focus on one thing for long before I was onto the next thing I was excited about. It was freeing to discover this is because I'm a 7 and don't have adult ADHD!

@@AbbeyHowe I showed your 4 video to my 4 husband, we had to keep pausing to laugh or evaluate on both of them. You were spot on at so many levels. As a 7 when he was in overly-melancholy I'd always try to cheer him up. Since I've discovered the enneagram, I see he's wired to be that way, so I feel freedom to leave him alone and let all the feels out. However it's very dangerous for a 4 to stay in their heads for too long because the woe is me led him to fall off the wagon of many years of sobriety. Pairing his constant yearning for the grass is greener, and my 7's adventurousness, has led us to some disastrous moves as well. On envy, within first 6 months of marriage his friend recorded an album and it was brilliant. But, oh the whining, 'I'll never be as good' and 'I wish I could do that,' it went on for months! Since learning the enneagram, he spots those things now and clips them before they get out of control.

They have great fried icecream, hazelnut capaletta and french onion soup. :) Fave restaurant in the world however is in Seattle. Gorgeous George's Meditteranean Kitchen. Once you've had his hummous, and nazareth salad you can never go back.

I'm a 7 and a grammar nazi and i have been under stress for prolonged periods of time so i definitely notice many behaviors of a 1. It's really strange to be a happy, enthusiastic person who wants to be satisfied by enjoying myself, yet at times i become a sensible, objective person who wants to be good by rejecting my self interest and self indulgence. But in the process, i feel really miserable and i wonder if the cure is worse than the disease.

Oh my goodness, yes. I am a 7, and I NEVER miss an opportunity to go out and socialize. And I'm always trying new things and forgetting about other things I've started. When I'm bored I just open a useless app on my phone and waste time. Yeah, healthy 7's adopt traits from 1's and unhealthy 7's adopt traits from 4's.

2, 3, and 5 are 100% me. If I'm awake, I'm ready to go to a party. The boredom one, especially with the book, was spot on. There is another thing I have trouble with as well. If I stay at home and don't go out, I will spend literally the entire time playing video games or watching a movie or tv show. I can not just stay home without something to look at. I will also choose finishing game/movie/season over sleeping for the same reason as going to a party over sleeping.

I never believed I was a 7 until I watched this...I am 29 switched majors 4 times. One point I wanted to "make it" as an basketball player. Took up guitar and piano, gave that up. Now I am pursuing a career in photography. super spiritual, every time I find something new I MUST share it. I terrible fomo, rather loose self that miss out on events. MY LIFE SUCKS, I HATE THIS VIDEO, I also love this video

I'm a Social 7... sooo, I resonate with most, but not all that you portrayed. I don't know if it's because I have a strong 8 wing, but I'm definitely a finisher. (Unless it's a book. I have, like, 3 books going at any one particular time! 🤣 Sometimes I actually finish one.) And my Self-Preservation Type 9 husband calls me a "bossy boots" sometimes... (but secretly loves that I take charge and get things done!). I do love new experiences and strongly dislike doing the same things over and over again. Like, when we go for walks, we HAVE to go a different way each time! And, yes...I HATE to be bored!!! Which is VERY rare since I have soooo many hobbies and likes to keep me occupied. Sometimes, though, my nose gets bored smelling nothing. Haha... thankfully we have essential oils! Thanks for your videos! They're very entertaining!

We are loving these videos. My 14 year old 8w7 is waiting for your 8 video after laughing her butt off at me while we watched your video about Type 1s (I’m a 1 with a VERY strong 2 wing and so the 2 video was pretty on point, too!) my husband and I have nine kids and we typed the six oldest... I’m the only 1, but we’ve got two 8s, two 2s, and one who is a 5 like my husband. And then there’s my 21 year old 9..... who drives us all batty as we try to light a fire under his easy-going butt!

I always wondered if ADHD is really just being a 7 / ESTP, but society isn't structured around us so it seems like we are "deficient", when really we are stuck in a society set up for type A ppl.
