It's FINALLY starting to look like a house!! Time lapse at the end.
There has been so much work over the last couple months with such little visible progress. Now in the space of a week it has dramatically changed and starting to look like a house.
I have framed up the side trailer out of 70x35 clear pine. I decided against using H2 timber because I just wasn't sure about the long term health affects in such a small space. I'll incorporate other methods of managing termites. But it does mean I need to get this thing wrapped up quick - as the rains, they are a coming.
Everything is braced up using steel strap bracing as it's the lightest option, and it locks my walls together. I attached the walls by bolting through the base plate and the steel combing of the trailer. I have and supplemented this with with 14g metal screws between the bolts. The corners of my frames are screwed together with batten screws and strapped for extra security.
I have built a shower out over my drawbar and a frameless corner window into the master bedroom. Who knows if this is a good idea. But if I can pull it off it's going to look 👌.
Next steps are getting this trailer wrapped, and I am really hoping the weather holds out long enough for me to get the main trailer framed up too. Lots of work ahead.
Don't hate... educate, and go build cool stuff.

Not just handy, damn vital. I built it to help me build this house. I control it with my phone. See Build Update 5 if you missed it 😃 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ecNv60eqss8.html

The trailer is looking absolutely fantastic. I love how you take the time to explain in detail why certain things are the way the are, we can all learn a lot from your advice. Thank you. PS LOVE the crane.

She's coming together nicely! To be honest when you made the first video in the series saying your going to join two tinys, I thought it was a pie in the sky idea but you've just about cracked it. Cannot WAIT to see her in final beauty.

😂😂 you and me both. Haha honestly I had the concept of how I could make it work but really wasn't sure. But now I'm starting to see little glimpses of light that are showing me it might actually be possible. The devil is in the detail though... Will it seal up, can I set it up again. Will it travel ok. Time will tell

Unless you plan of licking the H2-3 Pine everyday its fine. Its only bad if you constantly work with it full time without respirator.

Yeah, I logically know that, and they claim it's safe. Really it was just me being emotional haha. Although if you read some of the warnings they supply it with it's a little unsettling. CCA was once considered safe also. Really, I would possibly get over and just use it next time. I probably over thought this one.

Should your bolts on the wall base plate go through the other way round? That way you can check the nuts from under the trailer and tighten if they loosen? Otherwise you might not spot it if they're stuck inside the wall.
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 4 года назад
A good point but I don't see it as a big deal. I've used spring washers to prevent the nuts coming undone. I can easily check if it's still tight by checking the bolt heads. The only issue is if the nut comes off. It's stationary most of the time so very unlikely to ever see I be an issue. If one does come off while in transport it's unlikely to affect it. I'd need more than one to come loose to have real problems. And overall I don't love the look of bolts hanging out the bottom. But certainly a valid thought, thank you

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse After all this work I'd hate to see it fall off the back as you were driving along! You have thought of everything though! Really inspired and love seeing the regular updates!
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 4 года назад
@@cosmoshaw6084 😂 if one bolt or two bolts were going to be my undoing I probably shouldn't be building it 😆. Also I've supplemented with metal screws it needs to pull a lot out of steel to fall of. I joke but it's valid. I know of some builds that only got home from the builder (I use that loosely) on their maiden voyage strapped down with binders as almost took flight. That's deadly serious shit, and the kind of stuff we just don't want to happen. Thank you man! Keep these thoughts coming I really appreciate them. There will be stuff I've missed. And if nothing else others get to see our thinking. I never mentioned spring washers in the vid. Thanks so much for following along 👊. Another one coming soon!

Two Hands and an awesome crane can build anything to exacting standards! Are you already thinking about the next tiny home from what you have learned on this one?
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 4 года назад
Honestly you wouldn't be seeing these vids without that crane. So good. 😂😂 I'm still trying to think up what I'm going to do with this one. I but I'm certainly coming up with a lot of ideas I can take into future builds. Gets me excited, but then I remember how much I still have to do on this one yet 😆

Good Day, Such a fun and neat project))) With many years of studying tiny house architecture, I plan to have built a futuristic or sci-fi themed style Tiny Home. For example, just the shape of the windows can give the impression of a futuristic tiny home) I am exploring many ideas especially how to save space and how to make a really cool roof design) I noticed that the geodesic dome homes have very cool futuristic features which has given me many ideas how to combine a typical tiny house structural design incorporating a Futuristic/Sci-fi theme. Whats most challenging is how to make the small width of a tiny house to feel spacious. For example, 2.2 meters is the maximum width for a tiny house permitted here in the country of Colombia.

Hi there Joshua! Thank you so much for your words. Your idea sounds incredible one thing I've noticed is the strength of hexagons in construction. Something geometric would be so cool. Working with angles is a bit of a pain though. Please share your journey if you build it.
