Starting to look like a real house now. I have finally finished spraying the interior plywood. Love that I am starting to do final surfaces. I can see the end in sight.
If you know, you know: 🙌.
I have finished clear coating the plywood. I did not want to make a feature of the plywood. I just wanted a subtle, clean finish that was durable. I have used CPF Floor by Cabot’s in matte. It is a water based clear floor finish. I used this in the micro tiny house, and it has stood up impressively well to my abuse. The matte finish comes out closer to a low sheen which is perfect. It creates a gentle sheen across the ply that gives it a smooth, clean consistent look.
Next step is to line my shower. As you can see from the video it’s already waterproofed. I have a little bit more to do there then I will start lining it with the wall panels. So excited to see this house taking shape. It is only going to get more exciting from here.
Until next time, don't hate... educate, and go build cool stuff.

As someone who works on Private Yachts I can say your attention to detail, engineering design and forethought is up there with the best I’ve ever seen. Loved watching your channel from the micro and all the way through this build, your persistence without compromise is amazing!

Mate. I have to say that's one of the nicest compliments I have had. Thank you, that means a lot. Dad had a saying don't be a tradesman, be a craftsman. So grateful you have been along on the whole journey. Were on the home stretch for this one and it's been a crazy journey. I can't wait to look back over it. Thanks for coming along

The level of maxness you've delivered for every single component of this build is outstanding, the final finishes you persist with to ensure perfection demands appreciation.

Haha greatness doesn't come from cutting corners. I'm paying for the commitment to details but it brings me so much joy when it comes together

🙌 I won't complain about re-oiling my kitchen worktops! That's a lot of careful work but it's paid off - looks great from here.

Haha that can be a very unpleasant task though so I feel your pain. But I would trade that for sanding a ceiling haha 🙌

🙌 It's clear to see that you wood not like to sand and ap-ply more varnish to the ceilings. The walls are looking nice now. Keep up the awesome work. Still following and will try to ply or coat as many puns as I can into the comments. Sometimes I just hit a wall and need to be clear with myself that there are no more surfaces to cover.

Haha whoa you really a-ply-ed yourself to those puns. I am so glad you did that. Love that you are still on the journey my friend. 👐

Haha. Got stuff to do. Can't waste time talking. Ha no I just try to cram so much into these videos without making them too long, dragging them out and boring people to death. And, than you I appreciate you following along 👐

Like how the wood is still quite light, anything with some colour will really pop. Did a place with polyurethaned pine many years ago, it ended up much darker inside than I expected. 👐

Yeah, it has come up as a really nice base for the house. I didn't want it to be a feature, just a nice backdrop with a gentle grain. Also why I went with Birch, it has a much softer grain. Were you using an oil based poly? They will create a really heavy amber hue over your piece and will darken over time. With age it can leave pine looking very amber and dark. Water is really good for not doing this. And waters are getting really strong now. I remember back in the day they just didn't wear the same but now they really hold up. I would be hard pressed to use an oil based these days. 👐

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse Yes it was a oil based poly and as you say has really darkened up over time. This was in late 1980's, I can't be sure but don't recall that a decent water based poly was even an option then.
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse Год назад
Oh yeah back then there wouldn't really have been any water based. I remember using them late nineties but were not very durable them. I think it was late 2000s that they really started to get good.

You're a champion. There's no way I could spray that ceiling without suffering a week of mega pain, even at my long-gone peak. I'd have hit my card up for a Graco Magnum Airless system with a 90º flex nozzle after the first half hour. 😉

Haha honestly the spraying wasn't bad because it was quick... the sanding on the other hand. I actually borrowed this gun off a mate. Wasn't exactly right but it got it out and onto the ply, and saved me buying or hiring one. I am just glad it's over

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse, I have a confession. I had the mother-of-all seniors moments when I posted my comment. I knew the sanding was the tough part, but I had the spray equipment idea, it took over & I forgot all about the sanding. 🙄 I might lose the key to my brain at times, but it's all good, I'm the happiest bloke in the world. 👍❤👍 Cheers mate

OMG the brass trim is absolutely my favorite. It has cost me a small fortune in time and money but I love it. It is a key feature of this house and brings me so much joy. 🙌

is the varnish acrylic? I cannot find information about it but I would like to get something similar here in europe (cabot's not available :( )

Look for a water based polyurethane. In particular a floor finish. I am yet to see how it fairs over time. It seems like UV might be affecting it under my skylight. I can see slight cracking. But the UV is really harsh there and I am looking to use some tint on the window. Everywhere else is fine.
