I've binge watch every one of your episodes over the last week and can't wait for more. I hope to see your technique for using briar dust in a buildup. I must confess that I don't really appreciate the brass powder esthetic, although it's incredibly creative.

Chris Schultz Thanks for checking so many of my videos. The brass thing is not everyone’s thing. Which is why I rarely, if ever, use it on pipes that are intended to be sold, but for my own personal ones I like showing the history of the pipe’s use in some way and acknowledging that it has been repaired.

Interesting video. When reaming a bowl, do you remove all of the cake but leave the char?

Yayy! A new project - I love these. Question: is it my imagination or do you have a video on what to do for a bitten through stem?
@BarePipe
@BarePipe 5 лет назад
David-Dorian Ross I don’t. Simply because I have not had one come across my desk since I started the channel. But I do show the technique for building up a stem with a mix of vulcanite dust and superglue. Fixing a bite through is basically the same technique.

Great video! Can you please name exactly the dust you used?
@BarePipe
@BarePipe 5 лет назад
AngelSmell Thanks for asking. I should have mentioned it again. I listed the name in my original kintsugi video but forgot to do it in this one. It is cold casting brass powder (325 mesh) made by Smooth On.

Great video. I missed what you dipped the pipe in - I believe it's briar dust? Did you purchase the container or collect it? It looks like quite a lot to have been collected, although I've heard of some people buying the briar and scouring off the dust themselves. If you purchased it, where did you get it? Thanks for another great presentation!
@BarePipe

Insight Video I dipped it in 325 mesh brass powder, which is made by Smooth-on for cold casting. If you want briar dust, you need to make your own, by sanding a piece of briar with about a 300 grit sandpaper. I save all my briar dust for future use in a small container.

Bare Pipe... Thanks. I watched the video again and caught that you said brass. I had no idea that was an option. Thanks again.

Did you seriously just put superglue inside a bowl you mean for someone to smoke out of?? Right up against where the tobacco and fire will be??
@BarePipe
@BarePipe 5 лет назад
M K that someone would be me, 😎 No, I do not use superglue inside the smoking chamber, but on the exterior of the bowl and, for those pipes that I keep, also on the rim. I never put fire directly on the rim of my pipes.

You destroyed a perfect vintage pipe. Why would you want a vintage pipe looking like new ??? It is so dumb You destroyed a rare piece of Stanwell history. Just live them alone and smoke them!!

To each their own I guess.. I also prefer a little natural wear on old estate pipes.. I don't think he is ruining them.. Especially if it allows him to appreciate his own personal collection more lol
