I beat the game again after almost a year and a half break from it. I grabbed everything I could except weapons and armor of course but most of it. I was hooked and then found videos about the dlc leak. I'm hyped asf and can't wait.

I mean the cyberpunk dlc came out 3 gears after the game. And it's one of the best dlcs of all time

@@geraltofrivia7448 SotE has a different aura about it. The type of aura that Miyazaki wants to create a DLC that would cement his legacy after leaving the souls genre after dropping SotE. Phantom Liberty mainly took long because of the basegame’s terrible launch

Well considering CDPROJEKTRED'S original DLC plans were canceled due to the horrible state the base game came out in, they had to spend an entire year fixing the game before they could even start working on DLC full time which is why we got that expansion when we did. Elden Ring came out in a near flawless state (aside from initial online & PC issues) & they been cooking this DLC for almost two years straight now which is something From Software has never done before. & the tech/game engine they're using is not nearly as advanced as the one used in Cyberpunk. Regardless, as impatient as I am, I know them taking their time is for the best. This expansion is gonna be MASSIVE & might end up being another magnum opus for them. @@geraltofrivia7448

@@Terminator-ht3sx That's not true, at least the part about them not originally planning on DLC. Lance McDonald said Elden Ring DLC was always planned. It was originally planned to be released in two separate DLC packages (with a season pass released with Elden Ring in 2022 to contain both). But they decided to release it as one, big expansion instead. We also don't know for sure when the development cycle began. The April date is only speculated since that's the date the design manager had listed on his resume, but who knows for sure. That's just a personal resume, definitely not conclusive.

​@@sechan436it's very rare, yes. Especially for a game this popular and well made. Cyberpunk had a 3 year DLC but that's largely because they had a broken game at launch they needed to fix.

That won’t. From/Bandai’s approach prevents unnecessary promises that will always change due to development. Expectations are realistic and no endless marketing until the project is finished and in fully playable state. It builds hype that will boil over till official release or gameplay showcase. You need patience and not making this your lifestyle.

It's kept us talking. If they didn't day anything all this tike we would have ruled it out entirely and moved on.

Id rather be squirming and frustrated. Every time I follow a game that drops too many updates, I almost get fatigued and know too much about the state of the game to go into it fresh and ready to be surprised. I much prefer, the frustration and just image the release that we will all get once it comes out. The anticipation is the fun part, I want to blow my dopamine load all at once.

I would just assume its another year out and spare myself the heartbreak.

They shadowdropped DLC for Elden ring 2 years ago. Albeit, a smaller scale dlc, but a dlc nonetheless. I could definitely imagine a shadowdrop for SotE. I feel like the whole “word-of-mouth hype” is Elden Rings biggest differentiator to prior souls games. They just release info at random times, and people will talk

All I can say is that the game developers having more control over the IP sounds like a complete win to me.

If it gives us masterpieces like Bloodborne, which was another instance Miyazaki had more control over game development, then it's probably a pretty exciting move.

perhaps Bandai was against a shadow drop, and in order to do it FS bought the ip so they can advertise how they want? idk, may be one of many problems that lead to that decision

It’s kind of their own problem… they can delay their game. Shadow of the Erdtree was a publicly known DLC coming out in the beginning of 2024 for longer than this DD release

There people still playing fatal bullet in 2024 so perhaps all 17 fans are more dedicated than one might think. Although, agreed, most of their anime games are dogshit as of late with the only exception being Shinobi Striker which was an accidental success.

@@DONSMOKEPAPI I think so as well. I believe they learned from Dark Souls 3. Many people criticized the first DLC unfairly in my opinion. But if you play both back to back it is way more enjoyable.

100% its 2 years and still zero Info/trailer. This is almost as long as the time between ds3 and sekiro which was a complete new game started frorm zero.

On top of that, they had a big AC6 release last year, which on its own contributed to the delay

I completely agree, if you’re a developer of some sort and see your work getting this much attention and seeing how much people are looking forward to something at least give us a little insight as to what development is going on

There’s no reason to give a deal from a release that doesn’t exist. That causes to many problems for there bottom line and hurts them marketly. That unneeded drama that only will bring negatively around the ER ip for no reason but please inpatient players. They don’t need to make a twitter post screen shot to explain that the development is taking long they already stated that last year. The only one causing this anguish is yourself and From is not personally responsible for your well being.

Yeah at this point it’s past the generating hype phase. Even if just a story trailer would’ve dropped @ TGA slated for a release around the 2 yr mark there would be a much lighter atmosphere surrounding the thing. It’s them being intentionally cryptic and dropping what could hardly even be considered breadcrumbs all along the way. I get wanting to keep tight wraps on development and wanting everyone to be 100% surprised when it finally drops but I don’t think this was the best way to go about it honestly when fans have been waiting this long. They’d have been better off to just never drop that .png on twitter a year ago if they didn’t have something to follow up by now. It’s kind of absurd and bordering on cruel haha. They know how diehard their fans are, they know we’ve been checking in everyday to see just a sliver of good news. And yet… Also calling it now bet there’s gonna be an npc in the dlc with a side quest related to all this. Like in some vague way it’ll be a meta commentary on the fans waiting forever for the games return and hollowing in the process.
