Exposing Mega Carriers FREE Truck School. Theasianmaishow tells you the truth about swift, crst, knight, werner, Cr England and any other mega carriers that advertise free truck school. created by VideoShow:videoshowapp.com/free
I went to a community college and got my CDL through a hope grant. The hope grant is a scholarship that we have in Georgia for continued education for adults. So I only had to pay a fuel charge, books and processing fees, which amounted to $400.00 dollars. The grant paid the rest, which was a couple of thousand dollars. The training was great. It was 2 1/2 months of hands on training. With this amount of training it made me more prepared for driving otr or local. So, I agree. Do not go through these mega carriers to get your cdl, you will get ripped off.
I went to a mega carrier for school and stayed there for the 10 month contract. A year later I'm making double what i made there and paying 0 for student loans. Did they short change me? Sure. But it was also the most money I had ever made in my entire life. To each his own.
Alex you're making a blanket statements about all megacarriers. There's mega's that cover 100% of your cdl cost if you stay with them for 1 year. That's not that much of a sacrifice to get your foot in the door, 1 year of experience, and move to a higher paying company.
Every bit of what you say is true. I wish I would of went another route to obtain my CDL. But I was always worried that a company wouldn’t hire me without proof of experience.
I was thinking about going to CRST for the experience. I don't think it's a bad think if a person wants to do it. Shit if I stay at home I'm losing. Might as well be on the road getting experience in the field that I would like to do. Much respect.
Everybody have different experiences. Don’t let these videos throw u off from your plans/goals. Even if a school pay for your CDL, once you get the hard copy you can bail on them and find something paying more and just pay them back.
@@tinicoleofficial its crazy I wrote this 6 months ago. I got my cdl in November and just finished the training 3 weeks ago that Prime, aka CRIME INC, requires. I sat at home a month with no pay, due to no trucks available. After i find a lease purchase company to hire me and they had to send prime some forms to release, the very next day i get a call to come in to get a truck. My friend currently at prime says there are no trucks still. So in conclusion, I WALK WHAT I TALK. These mega carriers are good to get your license, THATS IT. WE waste a year from getting that bag, just go sayisfy a couple thousand dollars debt, when we can make that and more going elsewhere
@@slowitdownroc8946 youll just have to pay back the tuition which usually be around 4-5k. I’ll stay a year and fulfill my contract, but don’t feel obligated to stay with nobody in the trucking business. Its money everywhere out here
I'm gonna go with swift I leave in Oct but I'm looking for other companies with a 1 year contract I'm not trying to pay that bill plus get a loan and ill get a job off the gate
I went to school through swift. Honestly I thought it was just fine. Yea they take put $37 a week. But swift has honestly been very good to me. The school is 3 weeks. 200 hr drive time with a mentor. Then my own truck. I've been with swift 3 and a half years now. I did otr for 2 months then got a local account. I work 5 days a week average 11 hrs a week. I make $1100 a week gross average. But if I work an extra day which I almost always can then I can make $1300 to $1500. So in summary I actually disagree with this video. Have had a good experience so far.
Yesss I did know nothing in life is free but I still needed someone to tell me that again lol thanks for the advice. I almost decided to go and get the cdl for FREE 😂
There are companies who do that shady shit. I can't speak for all companies, but Prime seems like one of the few good ones. They offer free training and don't take money out of your check every month. The only catch is that you have to work for them for a year or else you have to pay $4K for your training if you quit before that one year is up. I don't think that's too bad. Essentially you go to their Springfield, Missouri or Salt Lake City facility, do the 4-day orientation, get assigned a trainer, drive with them for 2-3 weeks (you don't get paid during this time but can request a $200/week advance for food and stuff), come back and take your behind-the-wheel test for your CDL. After obtaining your CDL, you go back on the road with a trainer for another 3-4 weeks (either the same one or a new one, depending on your situation), get paid $700/week (before taxes) during those 3-4 weeks (or however long it takes you to drive 30K miles), and then you come back to their facility and pass some computer test and finally get assigned your own truck (if you decide to be a solo company driver). Then you should be making $1500-$2000 a week depending on what division you're in and how much you drive per week. Refrigerated makes $0.44/mile, Flatbed makes $0.46/mile, and Tanker make $0.51/mile. To me, it doesn't seem that bad for a company to start off with. I just applied to Prime a couple of days ago, so hopefully I'll be at Salt Lake City by next Monday. I'll let you know how it goes. I tried getting my CDL on my own by renting a truck and getting a couple of hours of training the day before, but I made a stupid mistake and forgot to mention the 55-75 psi parameters during the Low Air Warning device check part of my Air Brake tests and so I automatically failed because of it. There goes $800 down the drain. I can't afford to rent another truck and do a retest, so I decided to go with Prime. Plus, I'm hella paranoid to fail again and waste more money trying to pass again. I wish I knew someone with a semi truck. I would just need 2-3 days of practicing on my own on an empty parking lot and I would be more than ready to retake the test and confidently pass.
@@vincentviveros8506 I did not end up going to Prime. I ended up paying $1600 out of pocket for a two-week crash course at a local trucking school to get practice behind the wheel and better with my pre-trip. Got my CDL 4 years ago in 2018. Went to a Flatbed company for a couple months before finding a dedicated lane with an ltl company. Obtaining my CDL has allowed me to be financially prosperous, but I don’t plan on being a trucker forever as much as I love trucking and shifting gears in a manual truck.
While I agree with you 100% of what your Saying there's another slight problem and that is when you do have your CDL license fresh out from graduating a lot of companies won't touch you because you have 0 experience you have to get the experience somewhere. That seems to be the trend that I am noticing anyways, leaving you stuck like chuck Sitting on your couch doing nothing but wasting your time watching RU-vid videos when at least you could be doing something and just knock out that experience out of the way then kick rocks. So what are you left with A: go to school get experience get paid peanuts B: pay for school sit on your couch not making any money at all And not getting any road time. If there's an option C: that obviously I don't know about yet I'm always open for suggestions.
Depending on on the school u decide 2 go 2...alot of tha schools have companies they work with to get u hired after finishing school which would still most likely be one of the mega carriers but at least u wouldn't be under contract
Runnit Up. This is about the same. They will, they will contract you like a zero experience anyways, and you will need to pay the training from your pocket. A contract doesn't hold you. You can live anytime paying your training
Get some kind of state funding for your cdl, or find some other means to get it versus giving these mega carriers even more power. I couldn't agree more. Awesome video!
Just too get experience because you could get the lic by getting the permit and going somewhere with a truck but you won't have the exp to drive anywhere.
The Asian Mai Show Is misleading. Misleading. The parts of school that will kill you are : THE LACK OF FOOD , LACK OF LAUNDRY QUARTERS, SMOKING HOBOS EVERYWHERE,GETTING STRANDED AT THE WRONG TERMINAL STATION BECAUSE THE RECRUITER LIED ABOUT THE FREE TICKETS THEY GAVE YOU (BEFORE AND AFTER THE MOTEL AND YOU ARE FORCED TO PAY EXTRA OR WALK 15 MILES TO A TRAIN), SNORING ROOM- MATES, RACIST TRANSGENDERED BLASPHEMING EMPLOYEE-DRIVERS MOCKING STUDENTS, GETTING FORCED IMMEDIATELY ON THE FREEWAY AFTER YOU GET YOUR PERMIT WITHOUT ANY VR SIMULATOR TIME , BROKEN AIR CONDITIONER, ULTRA-EXPENSIVE RESTAURANTS, BAD CONE PLACEMENT, PARKING ON A SLOPED DUSTY LOT FULL OF POTHOLES, TATTOOED EX-CONVICTS WHO ARE BUSTED SELLING DRUGS TO THE INSTRUCTORS, INJURED INSTRUCTORS, WATCHING A CLASSMATE IN ANOTHER TRUCK LOSE CONTROL WHICH RESULTS IN THEM FLYING THROUGH A ELECTRIC FENCE AND TWO TRUCKS. 100%🔥🔥🔥 Just don’t do it! So easy to get grants and assistance from a local driving school that you do not have to pay back. And then you’re Basically a free agent from day 1, available to go where you want and not be tied down under contract. 😎👍
MakeCents Sorry to disagree with zero experience you will not be able to negotiate anything better than penny's. No matter how many enforcement you have what counts are experience = miles
I concur 200% I start truck school next week. No way, no way was I going to a mega carrier. Prime tried to talk me into not going and just go to theirs. I said there's no way I'm training with a lease driver; there's no way I'm training on an automatic to end up with a restricted license; there's no way I'M SIGNING A NON COMPETE CLAUSE!
I'm thinking about getting my cdl , I do my own research but do you have any information about the megs carrier Road Master? Thanks and I like your channel good motivation and lots of information about trucking from different aspects. Great videos keep them coming. 👍👏
To be fair they are very transparent about the process.. I went to swift trucking school they broke it all down in orientation although I personally used my gi bill and got paid for completing school and training
I understand. But what other industry actually invests in training their workforce? Tech industry invests 0 in you and expects you to have spent big $$$$ on a degree that puts you in debt.
Technical College is the way. There are grants you can get that will pay for the majority of the classes. Shop around in your city / state to find a community college that offers Commercial Truck Driving or Diesel Mechanics. Example: The state of Georgia offers a $1000 Zell Miller Scholarship that can be used for Truck Driving and Diesel Mechanics via the Community College system. For those in GA: www.gafutures.org/hope-state-aid-programs/hope-zell-miller-scholarships/zell-miller-scholarship/eligibility/ Tks Asian Mai for all you do with putting us up on good game!
I tell people just go work for Amazon (if their city has a fulfillment center or sort center) for one-year regular part time. Amazon will pay 95-percent of the tuition up front since a CDL is an exemption in their Career Choice Program. That's what I did to get my CDL. Get in their yard driver program first so you can at least know how to back the trailer before getting to CDL program.
C.R.England only paid me 14 cents per mile. and i left after 3-4 months and paid them $3,000 cash to pay for the school after working 2 months with another company. then the next year C.R.England sent me another letter for $2,500 i called immediatly and told them i already paid $3,000 cash. havent heard from them since.
Yes if you are broke deciding to go to truck driving school is actually a good route because you don’t have to pay anything. I’m personally OK with the work for 10 months to a year but I know after I’m done paying them back I will leave and get a better job once I have my experience and I’m done paying.
But are there truck companies that will hire In California without experience? Yes, you have your Class A and endorsements from a trucking school, but who will hire you?
I have a road masters located in Savannah Georgia that has the Werner trucking company and I was wondering is it a good idea for me to have them pay for the CDL schooling cause the cost is $6995 for out of pocket
If people go to local Craigslist, and hit the link transportation, you go to find company seeking drivers, with CLASS C They pay $950 Dollar per week, yes with CLASS C LICENSE ONLY. Company like, FedEx, UPS, Center line etc, While Swift, C, R England, Prime. You need to sign, for 1 year while you get your experience, sleeping in a tractor trailer, in truck stop, rest area, far away from family etc, for 1 year, and then, you can have $950 weekly in those company. Funny situation, Avoid at all cost, those megacarrier. This is the way to go.
How does using the GI Bill come into play with the mega carrier schools? Getting ready to use mine as soon as I decide where to go. California Truck Driving Academy is my CDL school choice. Good reviews and the bad reviews don't really resonate with my situation. A 20 min drive to school is in play as well. For those who have done it. How does the GI Bill affect how the mega carriers pay you during and after training. I mean you don't own them money for the training. So really it's a job security play and you would skip all those pay deductions while you get your first year of experience. Would you even be locked into a 1 year contract? If you liked the company you simply stay. If you don't heading for the exit after 6 months could be another good play since A LOT of jobs want 6 months of experience. Shut one door to open 10.
It’s really not that bad tho I went to the swift trucking school and you are Correct you pay for the loan while you work for them but they tell you that upfront and if you leave you’ll just be responsible for the loan on what ever you owe just like as if you would get the loan else where in some cases. There is no contract and you can leave at any time I have 8 months of experience and I was local for swift my entire 8 month span I left due to me wanting to be local after them so call claiming that they was going to cut out local driving not sure how true that was but I took it upon myself to take my talents else where. I think it really depends on what city you are in pertaining to the opportunities all companies offer because of course if you are in a bigger city it’ll be more vs a smaller city with hardly any freight coming outta there. Ion have no bad blood with swift they showed me a lot on my journey good and bad.
They told me upfront how much it would be paying them back and I get it experience and a guaranteed job to me it's not a bad deal I'll miss my kids but thts the same If i went to any trucking company they require a yr or experience so to me its worth what I'll have to pay for a little while to still be making way more than what i was and learn a new trade i can hopefully stick with
So I did the math if they pay .35 cents a mile u make 140 a day assuming u r driving all day which isn't bad I don't think I know u have stops an hooking up loads but that still not bad
So if ya could clear this up for me, let's say you,me or who ever is starting over in life and ya go and train with one of the mega carriers and the next guy went too an independent school, dont ya think the guy that trained with prime gets more loads then the independent guy that trained at a Mom and Pop school? Yes the prime guy gets payed less but gets more loads then the other guy. Tks
The way they do loads is by how much you work and dont go home! We are all numbers to these companies and the one that doesn't complain gets more work.
I see what you’re saying. However.. I have tried to contact non- mega carrier companies for jobs, but none will hire me due to no OTR experience. And I already even have a CDL. So what is a person supposed to do?
It's not a driver shortage, people get paid shit money so they quit and go with a different career path. We get treated like shit everywhere we go, eat shit food etc. See where I'm going with this and why people dont chose this profession.
Not my experience with CR England. Did my schooling there and got placed on a dedicated fleet. They never took money out of my paycheck. Training for 3 weeks paid 10 dollars an hour but after that my first weekly pay check was 1340. I just passed my 2 year anniversary and now make 1650 per week.
Hey there this is RB from Tx. I had my class A CDL back in 2000-2008 but I dropped it back to just a regular drivers license I changed careers then in 2012 I went through a divorce so to be more close to my two sons in 2013 I got my class B CDL and I drive a school bus for there school district so now I'm evaluating my financial status and future retirement and financially it doesn't look like much I am on the fence to get back into trucking I know all I need to upgrade to class A from a class B is to take the combination test and I can get my class A permit , also I would like to become a owner operator asap that's the plan and goal . So this being said can you give me tour experienced opinion thanks RB from Tx.
I think it’s a fair trade as a veteran I don’t even have to do a full year at CR England I think they told me 7-9 months? I no longer have a GI Bill :( and have no family and my credits not good enough for a loan at this point (even though it’s up over 100 points from last year)
You hit the nail on the head. KLLM gives a $500 gift card during training and then they get it back from you within your first couple of months of getting your truck. Good look brother!
even if you get CDL from school most companies won't pay decent because of NO experience. That happened to me when I got my CDL from school. so, no matter what new CDL drivers won't get paid the same as experienced drivers.
I'm sorry but prime is not that bad of a company. During train a you make 700-1000 a week and prime start pay is .44 cents a mile. It's not nothing crazy but to start out it's pretty good. They dont rush you to get your own truck. You can stay out with your trainer as long as you want if the trainer is ok with it. Prime do not take out money out your check each week for school. Now if you take out the 200$ they will loan you for a couple of weeks then yes but that's it. I would like for you to do a interview with a prime inc driver. Still love you channel but I think you should talk to a couple of truck drivers who work for prime inc. Prime is a good starter company.
@Truely Blessed I can't talk for Utah but yes I went to Missouri. It was good for me. Dont know your situation but you should of went to Missouri. I didn't really here much about Utah. Did you talk to someone about the Situation?
Thanks for your insight. Just letting people know that they should take control of their life and not take a so called easy route. Guaranteed if you come into a company ready to go. You will make more money than other wise! Cheers
@@MuthaTrucker thanks for the reply and man thanks to you I'm thinking about being a mover. Man you motivate me to want more and get more. Thank you though
@Truely Blessed I hear you. I had someone that came in with me and he had a real bad trainer and he was telling how bad it was. He almost didn't get his cdl. So I understand what you mean. Some people shouldn't be a trainer
Not everyone can get this gov assistance , for example I have work permit and have been living in us for couple of years and these Carrie’s are my only options
TheAsianMaishow, I drive rideshare Uber and Lyft taking at least 10 drivers a weekend around Springfield MO. Many of them are new but some are two or more years on with Prime. When I ask them what they like about it they always say they make excellent money. Several have been second career guys who have retirement income from other companies and the military.....smart people. They all have been happy with the pay. I’m not saying you can’t make more CPM once you’re trained at another carrier....but I haven’t met anyone who’s felt their training was to expensive or that they are poorly paid. Not one in 50plus drivers.
Thats good. Prime is one of the better companies. Just trying to empower people that they should have full control over their own lives. Thanks for watching!
The Asian Mai Show makes sense. I appreciate many things about your channel👊 You know way more about every aspect of trucking than I do so I don’t want to come off like your point is invalid. Obviously, your game plan has worked really well and I have gotten interested in learning more about trucking bc if your success and insights.
I disagree. It’s okay to start off with a mega carrier. In fact, even if you got your CDL on your own, the only companies that will hire you are mega carriers. Not to mention they’re not gonna pay you any higher as a new driver with all your endorsements... You’re still new, and they’re still paying you newbie wage. The difference is, MOST people can’t go out and get a loan or borrow from their family. Not all of us have rich Asian family members.
It aint his fault that his family has money! Quit trying to money shame him! The dude gives great info. I aint a cheerleader but you can get a FASFA loan and not have to pay it back. I did the same thing....Mega carriers are slave drivers and they know they have a high turn over rate so they lure you in with the free training then bend you over for the next year and pay you peanuts!.....I'd rather get my CDL another way, lie to JB Hunt and say I have 3 months experience and get a job that way
I paid for mine 2,500.00 no company owns me but on the other hand some people can't afford to pay upfront I get that. If you had paid interest on a loan it could cost you depending on credit worthy $4,000 to $6,500 once that loan matures plus you get a free room. One year and 5 days of drive send in a message I quit and I'm going to turn the truck into my home terminal. Yes losing that bread suck, but congratulations life it about change for the better and you'll make that money back that you loss and a lot more. Don't get this twisted it's f-ed up as a man or woman you need to do what you need to do......
Hopefully those guys won't send you lawsuit notice in the mailbox. Is it true there's some sort of motivation for a return gain for the guys who proposition you. So Asian Mai? Is it like A business proposition?.
Bro you just posted that prime couple making bank and loving it. I get your point but the other side of the expenditure is a year otr experience, part of which is spent with a (hopefully) experienced driver. So I'm brand new, pay for my own school, and then what, wing it?
CR England try to have me make a decision in 24 hours I found a local school that offers grants and loans it cost 10,000 and they have job placement glad I didn't go to CR England
I agree and disagree. I got my license with saia ltl. I had to get my permit and all endorsement before I started there training. I use there truck and trailer to get my license. I sign a year contract but they have me my raise like they said. I started as a forklift driver by my second year anniversary I was making top like the rest of the driver. I work for Pitt Ohio now. Saia was a local driver doing p&d
I found a trucking school for $3500. 3-4 week training period. Is this a good deal? Or should i join with a company like XPO or FedEx for dock to driver position , paid schooling.
CR England pays 14 cents a mile lmao I went there for 1 day and bailed less then $500 a week is crazy, Swift is the Best from the Worst if that makes sense lol I'm going there end of the year once im working I'll get a loan pay off the school early and go to JB hunt or someone local.
Facts Over Feelings If you're in California, they'll bus you over to their facility in Salt Lake City (or reimburse you up to a certain amount if you decide to buy an airplane ticket and fly over there). You just gotta have your CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit) before you go over to Salt Lake City. I just applied to Prime a couple of days ago, so hopefully I'll be in Salt Lake City by next Monday.
@@juanlemod Really I didn't know that thanks for the information, I would have already been at swift but I had a delay because they misspelled name on my birth certificate so I had to do a legal name change so this could be a blessing in disguise I have 10 more weeks until I receive my court order, I may just get my learner's permit with my new BC and attend Prime good looking out man 💯
Cute, sounds like the Army. Never would have joined if I had the financial means to make it to college. Free/Freedom isn't free. No one will invest in you if you don't don't invest in yourself. Don't like the contract, don't sign it. But at the end of the day stay true to ur word even if it's a bitch. Or pussy out
Not true for prime. Been here since April. Did training. Had my own truck through leasing straight out. 10th week, and I'm averaging $1800 if added and divide by 9 weeks. This week is going to be a $2k week. So I can't speak for other companie, but you should take prime off bro. That's false information
Not all carriers are the same. Some although they are still not great are better than others. And not everyone is gonna find the right fit also. All depends on your attitude, Do you homework before you go for it and chose the one that is best. Then go for it with positive power . And make it work . You obviously did that and it’s working great 👍. Forget what everyone else is saying. Do your thing.
You have one of if not the best trucking RU-vid channel. I really enjoy your channel but I disagree with you a little here. I started with Roehl in July. They paid me 500 a week while I’m CDL school for 3.5 weeks and 90 a day while with a trainer for another 3 weeks. I just came back from being out 2 weeks and my 2nd paycheck was 1000 after taxes. I’m at 45 cents a mile. I do have to drive for them for 120000 miles which is ok to get my experience if I decide to leave. Not bad.
Andrew : How u doing now? are u still w Roehl? Did u go thru their getYCDL program? how was it ? which Roehl location u train at? Were u van, reefer, fb? Did u do the 120,000 miles ok? I think Roehl sounds pretty safest good decent upfront of megacarriers right? thinkn of tryn it to get my cdl. hope to hear back Goodluck
