People forget about other superstars who had many air balls and couldn't shoot, the part where someone can't shoot can be fixed, also don't forget he didn't start in the NBA, he wasn't used to the same distances, European basketball is different. Give him time and he is going to prove them all wrong.

I guess to a certain extend I get the matchup issue. Good defences can stop you getting to the rim, they cannot stop you from shooting. I would still argue, that defending the paint pretty well comes with costs in particular in the 3-point-shooting era. Decent shooters should be able to benifit from that (and Giannis had substantially higher assist in the Miami series). I would further add, that the best teams today don't have particular good defences anyways. I am sure the Nets, Hawks and Suns would have loved to defend better against Giannis, but they couldn't or it was not worth it because changing your offensive weapons for good defenders would harm more than it would help. So in total I would argue that the value proposition is pretty good for Giannis.

IMO his mentality and work ethic just cannot match these players with lesser skills from overseas but who are much more disciplined and tend to focused on doing multiple tasks right to achieve team success instead of relying on talent for personal achievements. I don’t even know if it’s necessarily skill, I think it’s more how he was being used. This playoffs, he started to play off ball with being the roll man, being a facilitator at the top of the key and even getting down to the block and posting up every now and then
What people don’t seem to understand is that every NBA player has a weakness. For Giannis it’s his jump shooting. We don’t need to bring him down for that, nobody is perfect. Appreciate players like him, LeBron and KD for who they are while there here rather than flaming them for not being perfect

I don’t understand why can he not be the best player in the league? The man has 2 MVPs along with a finals MVP. Beat the team that beat LeBron while being 2-0 and injured and beat KD while being down 2-0. He averaged 30+ points along with 13 rebounds on damn near league best efficiency during the playoffs and then in the finals once again he was injured averaged 35+ points, had the most rebounds and blocks in that series. He was the best defender in this entire playoff run and he has jrue. And he done all this while arguably having the worst supporting cast in this playoffs only people who might have a worse team is KD which was only the case for the last 4 games which even then it’s still arguably as he still had harden who is better than jrue regardless of injury, trae young and Luka don. @@immortal8447 the only injuries that the Bucks benefited from were Kyrie's and Harden's, which essentially just evened the playing field between them and the Nets. That series wasn't guaranteed either way. Trae stepped on the ref but that was later equalized by Giannis's hyperextended knee. The Suns had no major injuries for the Finals.

To everyone downplaying Giannis’s championship because of injuries: do we really want to open up that can of worms? Do we really want to start talking about all the awards and championships that should be revoked/downplayed from players and teams around the world due to something that happens when either a player/team is negligent, a player/team makes the wrong decision regarding injury recovery, or that just happens naturally because not everyone is immortally immune to being injured?
He WAS and STILL is injured himself. He said he had his first full game since game 6 and his leg is STILL hurting. It never stopped. He played through it. He even hollered in pain during his press conference after he won the chip.
