In this video I change the engine oil in a Ford 6.0 Diesel engine. I also show how to replace a damaged engine oil filter tube (standpipe). The service is complete with a drain of the water fuel separator. I show how the newer replacement drain plug works. I included a product link to the item I purchased below. This is an affiliate link and I will receive a small commission if you purchase the item......It works great!

Duuuuuude. Found that pressure bypass plastic bolt and spring in the oil filter housing after removing the filter. Had no damn clue what it was or where it went. I looked all over trying to find videos or forums about it and nothing. Couldn't find the parts in any parts diagrams either. That thumbnail was gold to me. Thanks for the help.

DOOOOLPE!!! In my best Homer Simpson voice!!! “Well… we’re gonna smoke a little bit!!! LMFFAO! I do that every time with every fluid I ever try to pour into the engine!!!! LMFFAO!!! Don’t feel bad…there’s 195,678 of us that miss the damn funnel every time!!!!

Haha Homer does say it best! I usually keep all my follies in the videos to let everyone know we are all human! I tend to get excited with the big jugs and overflow it at the funnel to filler connection too! Thanks for watching and sharing! 👍😁

Great video. What was the black cap for near ( looks like oil filter cap)the moisture separator plug?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 8 месяцев назад
Thanks! The water separator unit has a large fuel filter on the end...Similar cap as the oil filter. Change both fuel filters, here and at the engine, every 15k or more. Thanks for watching!👍😁 Fuel Filter: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k9J7sBFMSuU.html

Thank you for this! I am about to replace the same part for the filter. If I have a new filter already in there I should be able to take it out and replace the spring/tube for the filter like you did and put back in with the same filter right?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder Год назад
Welcome! I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to reuse the filter if it was recently replaced. The only issue would be if you damaged the o-ring or contaminated the filter while it was out. Thanks for watching and good luck with the repair! 👍😁

Did it concern you that there may have been plastic that was on the other end holding it in might have got to the motor?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 3 года назад
Yes! I was freaking out when I first noticed it was broken. I only realized it during an oil change when something fell out of the old filter. After I calmed down and thought about it for a minute my worries went by the wayside. It was operating broken for sometime and could have been running like that for possibly the entire oil change period (~5k miles for me). The small plastic pieces were long gone by the time I even noticed and it would be impossible to locate them outside of major disassembly. At that point it was basically an, 'it is what it is,' type of scenario. I operated it six years like that before replacing the pipe. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

do you have to prefill filter?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 8 месяцев назад
Nope, you can't do it if everything is working correctly it will drain into the oil pan. It has a valve in the bottom that opens when you take off the cap. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Good video, cool pepsi vending machine. How old is it ?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 3 года назад
I believe it is 1970's vintage. It was in my Grandfather's garage as long as I can remember. I plan to do a video specifically on it someday; cleaning it up and hopefully testing it out. I will investigate the exact year of manufacturer for the video. Thanks for watching and happy New Year! 👍😁

Will the stand pipe tube in the oil filter housing cause the oil to drain back into the engine after you cut it off?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder Год назад
Unscrewing the oil filter cap allows the tube and filter to lift up. The vertical motion opens a valve and allows the filter housing to drain into the oil pan. It should be drained before you attempt to remove the stand pipe. Thanks for watching! 👍😁
@rodneygrainger4274

My question is what will cause my oil to go back in the engine causing me a long cranking and sometimes using ether?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder Год назад
@@rodneygrainger4274 I see..... The valve could be broken or you could have some mismatched components. The aftermarket industry has pushed for taller oil filter caps and filter elements. If you have a taller oil filter cap and a standard height oil filter element the valve will not close and the oil will drain back into the pan as the filter bounces around. This is my best guess for unwanted draining at the oil filter housing. Good luck 👍

It ran great for three months then long cranking. I replaced standpipes and dummy plugs, and wiring harness and icp ipr and egr.

@@rodneygrainger4274 FICM could be shorting out in cold weather. Their is a diagnostic procedure to check the output voltage on these units. I had one that would drop voltage on cold weather and never start but was fine in warmer weather. They need the high voltage output to fire the injectors; I think it's 36 volts.

Why is it when I drain the separator it continues to drain and never stops draining? Also water in fuel constantly comes on ....anyone out there know why?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 3 года назад
I never had the water light on issue.....I have had the separator continue to drain if the fuel tank was too full. It created a siphoning effect. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Great truck if left a truck to fo it's job. It's not a race truck. If so expect it to break.. I have 03' dually 280k and 06' CCLWB F350. 167k....both are syock with only atlas 40 tune....maintenance is key and leave alone....

Bone stock and still going strong. I too think they run great when properly maintenance and not modified. I'll never understand the logic behind dialing them up just to hear the turbo and pump out black smoke. Several expensive diesels running around my area with heavy performance modifications. I guess everyone has their own thing. Thanks for watching! 👍😁
